My Skincare Routine

P1010596

Hi guys! I am by no means a skincare expert, but today I thought I would share with you the routine that seems to work for my face. I have fairly oily skin so I tend to go for daytime products that are made for my skin type. Since I’m oily, I don’t want to use products that may contribute to my oiliness under my makeup. I’m less fussy at night since I know I’m going to just sleep and then wash off the products in the morning. I’m going to break down my skincare products into three categories, face washes, makeup removers and moisturizers.

Face Washes

On most days I use the Spectro Cleanser in the Blemish-Prone Skin formula for both morning and night. I don’t get a lot of blemishes these days but since I do have oily skin I use this formula and love it. Once or twice a week, I use the Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub either in the morning or at night in place of the Spectro Cleanser to give my skin a gentle exfoliation. It really helps keep the few dry patches that I get at bay and keeps my pores nice and clean.

Makeup Removers

When I take off my makeup at night I first use the Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover. This product practically melts all of my eye makeup, including stubborn mascara, in seconds! A little goes a long way so this bottle has lasted me quite awhile. For the rest of my face I use Neutrogena All-in-One Makeup Removing Cleansing Lotion. It also quickly removes my makeup. I could use it for my eyes too, but I found it wasn’t as effective for eye makeup.

Moisturizers

Morning: After I wash my face I use the Olay All Day Moisturizer for Combination/Oily skin. This moisturizer has always been a favourite of mine. It absorbs quickly so it doesn’t leave my face feeling oily and it has a little bit of SPF (15). I then use the Garnier Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream under my eyes to help with the fine lines I have under my eyes and to slow down future lines.

Night: After I wash my face and remove my makeup, I apply the Garnier Ultra-Life Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Cream to my face and neck. I feel like I’ve seen an improvement with adding this to my routine. I’m fairly young so the anti-aging products are more proactive than reactive. I follow this up with another application of the Garnier Ultra-Life Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream (that’s a mouthful to say!).

The bonus for all of these products is that they are all drugstore so they are all budget friendly! The one thing I do want to add to my routine is a toner… Does anyone have any recommendations?

What is your skin care routine? Let me know in the comments down below! Be sure to add what type of skin you have (oily, dry, combo, etc).

xoxo,

Robyn

  1. Great products! As far as toners go- I currently am using the ProActive toner (this is the only thing I use in the system) and I like it! You really don’t need to pay an arm and a leg for it- from the drugstore I have used just plain ol’ Witch Hazel (it does contain alcohol though) but I really loved it when my skin was more oily. If you are looking for something containing no alcohol I would recommend the toner by Simple Skincare it gets the job done and isn’t drying!

  2. Oh, I didn’t realize you’re Canadian too! I only realized after I saw Spectro because that’s not available in the US! I used to use that in the mornings, it’s a great gentle wash for sure.
I used to use the Olay day moisturizer years ago, but I went away from it because it was so heavily fragranced. But yes, it’s a great drugstore brand.
    I did a skincare routine a little while ago…

    • I didn’t realize they didn’t have Spectro in the states! Yes I agree the Olay moisturizer is soo fragranced, that’s the one thing I don’t like about it. I’m definitely going to check out your routine! I love reading about what other people are using 🙂 Thank you for reading and commenting!
