With the holiday season in full swing I find myself reaching for my red lipsticks more frequently than usual. To me, red lipstick is a staple in my collection but I don’t find myself wearing them every day. With my fair skin, I find that reds look dramatic on me. I do like the way they look but just not for the average day.
- L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick: Ravishing Red (312)
- L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick: Bold Bordeaux (741)
- ModelCo: Stiletto
- Colourpop Lippie Stix: LBB
- MAC: Studded Kiss
- Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick: Catfight
- Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick: 69
- NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil: Cruella
- MAC: Ruby Woo
While swatching, the only shade that gave me difficulty was MAC’s Ruby Woo. This doesn’t really surprise me, I find the Retro Matte formula a bit difficult to apply. If you wear this shade, a lip primer is a must. Once you have it on, it does wear very well.
With reds I tend to like matte formulas because they are long-wearing and require the least touch-ups. I find that when red starts to wear off, it can go from great looking to bad very quickly. MAC’s Studded Kiss (Matte) wears like a dream. Colourpop’s LBB is similar as well as it is also a matte shade and is more of a deep red. NARS Cruella is a matte true red, and again, has great wear time. Matte lipsticks are a definite go-to for holiday events so that I don’t have to worry about touch ups.
Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipsticks are great as well as they are so creamy and pigmented to apply. I find they have great lasting power as well, but just don’t hold up as well as a matte formula.
The L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge line was at one point my go-to lipstick range. I exclusively wore them for years before I started to get into high end makeup. They are great because they are long-wearing. L’Oreal claims that they last up to 10 hours. I think that is a bit of a stretch, but they do have lasting power. They also look a bit creamier than a matte and are very comfortable to wear.
I hope you enjoyed this ’round-up’ style post. If you would like more, please let me know in the comments down below.
