Hi guys! I always appreciate a good beauty tip. Whether it be something really original, or an oldie that I’ve long forgotten. I wanted to share with you five of my favourite beauty tips. I am in no way claiming and of these to be original. I’m pretty sure a lot of these have been around forever so I wouldn’t even know where to start to give credit. Wherever these came from, I really enjoy them and I thought I would share them here!
Conditioner as Shaving Cream
This is probably my favourite beauty tip. I haven’t purchased actual shaving cream for YEARS. I purchase an inexpensive conditioner, usually one by TRESemme with a pump and it seriously lasts forever. You don’t need to use much, it lubricates your skin for your razor to easily glide across and it moisturizes. It takes up more room in my shower but that seems like a small price to pay.
Blending Out Your Under Eye with a Skin Coloured Shadow
Sometimes it is easy to go heavy handed when you apply eye shadow under your eye, or maybe you just want a more diffused look. I find that blending an eye shadow that matches your skin into the under eye shadow works wonders! You could also take a lighter shade of whatever colour you had applied as well to diffuse the shadow.
Scotch Tape
Oh scotch tape… I know everyone talks about this but I only started using it regularly recently. I had done it once or twice before but never remembered to do it. Now I love it and do it all the time. I love how easy it is to carve out your outer-v or apply liquid liner. I take the tape off before I do the liquid liner and use the sharp edge from the eye shadow to start my wing. I am such a novice at wings so using it as a tracer is essential.
Lip Balm before Lipstick
I have to do this every time I apply lipstick to keep my lips from drying out. I do it all year round but it is essential during the winter. I apply my foundation and concealer first and then the lip balm before I continue with the rest of my makeup. I find if I do the lip balm first then my foundation doesn’t apply nicely around my lips. Before I put my lipstick on, I blot any leftover lip balm off.
Dry Shampoo Before Bed
This is another tip that I love. There is nothing I hate more than if I accidentally miss brushing out some dry shampoo and don’t notice until I’m at work. After I read a suggestion to use it before bed and not to brush it out, my life was changed. It absorbs the excess over night and is all gone by morning. No more white cast! This is also great because I work in a scent-free environment so any scent from the dry shampoo (which can be lingering) is gone by morning.
I hope you found this tips useful, whether they are new to you, or a reminder of a tip long-forgotten. I would love to hear some of your beauty tips in the comments down below!
xoxo,
Robyn

I’ve never heard about using conditioner as shaving cream!
I actually use my face powder to blend my eye shadow sometimes – this is especially handy when I’m travelling. No need to pack a separate product. 🙂

Oo that’s a good idea! Usually I grab for a shadow that’s in the palette I’m already using, face powder is a good idea too! Never thought of that.
I’ve saved so much money since I switched to using conditioner to shave! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy so I get a cheap one just for shaving!

Great tips! I use the conditioner in place of shaving cream one. Like you, I haven’t used actual shaving cream in forever! I’m going to have to try the scotch tape for winged out liner. I fail miserably at that every. single. time. maybe tape will be the answer!? I feel like I just don’t have the eye shape for it lol

It really helps a lot! I should have mentioned in my post but I take it and stick it to my hand first to remove some of the stickyness and i angle it towards the end of my eye brow 🙂

Yes it has saved mine too! When I do scotch tape, I put it on my hands a few times to decrease the stickyness and then when I apply it I only press down gently where I know I’ll be blending against it. Not sure if you have tried that but I find it is easier to remove!

Mine too! More often than not I end up having to re-do my whole eye but it should get easier with time… I hope!!
