Review: TRESemme Beauty-Full Volume

Hi guys! TRESemme was kind enough to send me a few of their products from their new Beauty-Full Volume line to try out. I don’t often switch up my hair products so I thought this would be a good opportunity to try something different.

This hair system is based on the trend I’ve been seeing all over the internet of conditioning your hair first and then shampooing second. This is supposed to reduce the conditioner build-up and create more volume. I’ve always looked at that trend with skepticism because my curly hair loooves conditioner. The idea of washing it out after applying it seems strange to me.

My hair felt very soft and light after using this. It felt dry at first but later on I noticed how soft it was. I don’t think my hair has ever felt that soft. It definitely had more volume than usual. My hair was a bit on the frizzy side after, that’s not unusual for my hair. That’s why I swear by products designed for smoothening your hair.

The shampoo smelt absolutely amazing. It kind of reminded me of bananas. I wish my hair smelled like that all day. The conditioner (step 1) and the styling product (step 3) both had a floral scent. I’m not really a fan of floral scents so I’m not enjoying how my hair smells after using all three products.

My hair after *only* using the TRESemme products

The styling product requires that you blow dry your hair which is something that I never do (unless I’m planning on straightening or using a curling iron and I’m in a rush). Once I followed all the steps I definitely had bouncy, voluminous hair but it looked very unfinished. I think I would have to take it one step further and use hot tools to style it. However, for the purposes of this review I wanted to show you what my hair looked like after simply following the steps and using all of the products on their own.

Something else to note is that this is not a sulfate-free shampoo. I use a sulfate-free shampoo because I colour my hair and I find it makes a difference. Between dying my hair regularly and having curly hair I find my hair tends to be more on the dry side.

My general preference for my hair is to use a curl cream and let my hair air dry. This way I have manageable, soft wavy curls but am not damaging my hair with heat. It’s also very low maintenance which I love as well.

My husband saw these products sitting in the shower and tried them out. He came up to me and made me feel how soft his hair was. I know he was just messing with me, but it did feel softer! However, he is back to his regular shampoo because he is a “one-step man”. Haha!

So overall, I would say this product did work and provided volume. Would you get the same results if you used your normal products but in a reverse order? Quite possibly.  TRESemme products are generally very inexpensive so what is there to lose?

What are your favourite styling products to use for volume? Let me know in the comments down below!

Robyn

  1. I’ve been seeing this all over. I’m still not convinced I should condition my hair before I wash it… wouldn’t the shampoo just wash away the conditioning? 😛 I might try it tomorrow to see if it does anything. I don’t actually condition my hair every day since I find it weighs it down. Currently I’m alternating between Kiehl’s Amino Acid shampoo and something from Joico or some other salon-type brand, I don’t remember. I love the Kiehls – it smells like coconut + baby powder!

  2. I received this as well and I really like it. I have fine hair though so it works really well for me. I think they need to market it more towards fine hair – those looking for volume without it probably wouldn’t be crazy about it.
So jelly that you can just let your hair air dry – I look like a troll if I don’t blow dry and style it everyday!

    • Yeah I think it should definitely be marketed to fine hair too! Glad you liked it 🙂 if I blow dry my hair (without the intention of using a hot tool after) I look like a frizzball and have super poofy hair! But I do need to put something in my hair before it air dries to avoid poofy hair as well.
