5 of My Matte “Must-Haves”

Matte Must-Haves.jpg

Hi guys the Canadian Beauty Blogger’s theme for the month of April is Matte Must-Haves and given that I looove mattes I thought I would share a few of my matte favourites! One of the reasons I love mattes is because they are so versatile. I mainly wear mattes on my lips, but given that I have oily skin, I also tend to keep my face matte as well! I always, always have a matte eyeshadow in my crease, but I also enjoy an all-matte all eye look from time-to-time. There is just something so crisp about it!

Before I say everything I want to say in my intro… let’s dive into my picks!

Bite Beauty | Matte Crème Lip Crayon

Bite Beauty Framboise

I have many, many matte lipsticks but I think this is one of my favourite formulas. It feels creamy yet dries down matte and lasts all day. You can see my full review of this product here! I only have one so far but I know I need many, many more!

Laura Mercier | Translucent Setting Powder

This powder saves my oily face. I need to “bake” it onto my usual oily areas (cheeks, nose, forehead mainly) but does it ever keep me matte. I thought baking was kind of gimmicky when I saw it popping up all over YouTube but if you’re oily, it is a life-saver.

I do this almost every day and it doesn’t add any time to my makeup routine. Instead of setting my makeup normally with a powder, I use my damp Quo Makeup Blending Sponge and apply it heavily in the areas I need it, and leave it there as I put the rest of my makeup on. Once I’m ready to apply blush and a highlighter, I gently sweep away the excess. The results? An oil-free face for an entire workday which I thought was impossible before this.

L’Oreal | Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Classic Ivory

This is another product that keeps me matte and controls my oil. I love matte foundations and this one is my all-time favourite. It’s a demi-matte so it still looks natural when applied, but keeps you shine-free. If you’re in the market for an affordable, natural-looking matte foundation, look no further! It really, really works for me.

Kat Von D | Shade + Light Eye Palette

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Palette

This palette is a definite matte staple. I love that it has three sections: neutral toned, cool toned and warm toned. I love wearing it on it’s own for a crisp matte look. However, I also love using it to supplement other eyeshadows. Within the 3 sections, you will find something to go with any look! The shadows are pigmented (using a light-hand is essential), creamy and super blendable.

Maybelline | FitMe Matte + Poreless Powder in Translucent

Maybelline FitMe Matte + Poreless

If I don’t feel like “baking” my makeup then this is the powder I will use. It doesn’t keep me as shine-free throughout the day but it’s nice for touching up since it is a translucent powder. One quick touch-up and your oil vanishes!

  1. Oh I didn’t know the Fit Me come in a matte formula – that must be new-ish? I’ll have to look into that. Great all round list – I used to be ONLY about mattes for eye shadows and blushes and while I think they’re a good staple, I’ve branched out into shimmers. 🙂 Funny though, I just can’t do matte lips!
