Hi guys! I just received a VoxBox from Influenster yesterday that was full of Maybelline goodies to test and review. While I am going to be posting full reviews on the items I received, I thought it would be fun to slap them all on my face and give you my first impressions. My full reviews will be more detailed and comment on wear time, and how they worked for my skin type. I did also add in a few Maybelline items that I already owned to keep this look as Maybelline oriented as I could. The photo above is all the items that I received for review.
Products Used:
Foundation: Maybelline BetterSkin Foundation in Ivory*
Concealer: Maybelline BetterSkin Concealer in Ivory*
Powder: Maybelline Matte + Poreless Translucent Powder
Blush: NARS Deep Throat
Highlight: Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Gleam – Crushed Pearl
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion (original). Maybelline Blushed Nudes* (no colour names, see photo below for colours used). Maybelline Lasting Drama by Eye Studio Blackest Black Gel Eyeliner* (winged liner). Maybelline Lash Sensational (mascara).
Brows: L’Oreal Brow Artist Shaper in Blonde and L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper in Light to Medium
Lips: Maybelline ColorBlur Lip Pencil in Fast & Fushia*
So, my first impressions… The foundation is way too dark/warm for my skin, but I applied a very light layer so that I can test it out. I balanced it out by highlighting my face with the concealer which is closer to my skin tone. They both applied and blended nicely so I’m interested to see how they wear. Aside from the shade, my skin looks like healthy skin and the coverage is probably medium but natural looking.
The gel eyeliner is the first gel liner I’ve ever used but I’ve had my eye on it for awhile because I’ve seen rave reviews. The brush it came with was a bit hard to work with, but once I swapped in a small brow brush that I have, it worked a lot better. It was very smooth and pigmented to work with.
The eyeshadow I was a bit skeptical on because I think I had seen some negative reviews online about it. I’ll have full swatches when I do my full reviews, but I will say that the darker shades work a lot better than the lighter ones. The ones I used did apply nicely and blend out though which made them easy to work with.
The lipstick was meant for applying just in the centre and then to blend out to give an ombre look, but today I just wanted to apply it all over because I didn’t have time to play with it. It was very creamy and pigmented to apply and dried down matte. I’ll be keeping an eye on the wear-time for my full review.
What are you wearing on your face today? Let me know in the comments down below!
xoxo,
Robyn

Your skin is absolutely flawless.
I’m currently using that concealer-I love the coverage. I have terrible skin, and it does the trick. I’ve always used ‘ivory’ in all maybelline products, but I had to switch to ‘light’ for the same reason you mentioned above. It seemed way too dark for my skin.
Oh yeah, did I mention that your skin is flawless?? Fab job on the eyeliner – beautiful work!

Aw thank you!! I find a lot of Maybelline products that I have are surprisingly dark! But at least the coverage is good and it wears really well!
