Drugstore Haul!

Shoppers-Drugmart-Haul.jpg

Hi guys! Wednesday evening I was experiencing quite a bit of pain and irritation in one of my eyes which just seemed to get worse as the night progressed. I decided to try to go to sleep to see if I would wake up and feel better (I feel like this is my body’s equivalent of trying to restart a device when you’re troubleshooting). The pain was so unbearable I barely slept so on Thursday when I woke up to a totally bloodshot eye, I decided to take a trip to the Emergency Room. After a very quick visit (so thankful it was quiet in the morning!) I learned I had an abrasion on my cornea. While waiting for my prescribed eye drops at Shopper’s Drugmart I decided to browse and treat myself to a few things! Thankfully the freezing drops were still working from the ER so I could handle daylight… Once they wore off… it was shut curtains and sunglasses indoors for me because when you have an abrasion on you cornea the sun feels like laser beams.

Let’s take a look at what I purchased to lift my spirits!

I’ve had my eye on the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams for awhile. I’ve seen mixed reviews on them, but I want to try them myself. They have a bit of a mousse-y texture so I’m looking forward to trying this on my lips! I picked out the shade San Paulo. I also picked up the Essence Get BIG! Lashes Mascara as I’ve really enjoyed the other items from Essence that I have tried so far! I like a variety of different types of mascaras on-hand so I decided to go for a volume-boosting formula. Can’t wait to try it!

Also from Essence I decided to try out their The Gel Nail Polishes. These require no lamp and claim to last 60% better (Better than what? Normal polish I guess?). I chose the shade Play With My Mint as I’ve been loving minty-greens lately. I’ve already applied it to my nails (which I’ll be posting on Mani Monday) so we’ll see how the wear-time is by then! Since I didn’t have anything from this line I picked up the Base Coat and Top Coat. I’ve also been out of my Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water for quite some time and it was on sale so I grabbed another one!

So, that is what I picked up! A huge thank you to my lovely sister for taking me to the ER this morning as I wasn’t able to drive myself due to my eye. My eye already feels a bit better from the eye drops that were prescribed. I need to keep using them for 7 days and I can’t wear my contacts at all until after that. Depending on how my eye looks I probably won’t be posting any makeup looks for awhile.

So, have you picked up anything great from the drugstore lately? Let me know in the comments down below!

xoxo,

Robyn

  1. Oh yikes, I’m sorry to hear about your eye, that sounds super painful. Get better soon!

I recently picked up that Garnier Micellar Water, although its the non-waterproof version, and its still early but so far I’m loving it. Thinking it might be a dupe for my much loved Sephora Cleansing Water.

I have a couple of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams and I’m kind of on the fence – they are really intense, beautiful colours but they didn’t work well with my chronically dry lips. I still wear them occasionally because I just love the colours.

    • Thank you! It’s the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. I tried to go to work today but I had to give up after an hour to go back home and resume my dark vampire-like existence.

I’ve never tried the Sephora Cleansing Water but I definitely love the Garnier one. It cuts my nighttime routine in half because it removes all my makeup so well!
My lips handle liquid lipsticks pretty well so I’m hoping the NYC Soft Matte Lip Creams work but we will see! The colour selection is definitely beautiful!

  2. I’m almost out of my Bioderma, so maybe I’ll look into that cleanser next! I love the NYX Soft Mattes, that color looks gorgeous. So sorry about your eye, but hopefully you’re on your way to being fully healed. I’m terrified of eyes, so I had to scan delicately over your post to the makeup. I did get the gist! I’m a weirdo. Haha!

    • Yeah I really recommend the Garnier Micellar Water. I haven’t tried the Bioderma one but I’d be curious to hear how it compares! I was terrified of eyes until I started wearing contacts so I get it! I should be all healed in a week, hopefully!

  3. Ouch!! I hope you feel better VERY fast! That sounds terrible. I had a little pebble in my eye last week and I was whining like a baby. I can’t imagine the pain you must feel!
Great haul! I have one Soft Matte Lip Creme and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. I like it, but I don’t know if I love it. I’m looking forward to your thoughts about that mascara! I’ve heard good things.

    • Thank you! This is one of the worst pains I’ve ever experienced. The worst part is how sensitive my eye is to sunlight so I can barely leave the house if it’s sunny out and we are finally getting some nice weather!!
I wore the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream last night and I liked it but I wasn’t really paying attention to wear time so I’ll have to test it again. I look forward to trying the mascara when my eye is back to normal! 🙂

    • I want to say it happened when I was taking my contacts out because that’s when the irritation started but the location of the scratch doesn’t really make sense (on top of my eye) but other that that nothing else touched my eye? It’s so weird and such a pain! I have to live like a vampire and it’s finally nice outside! The drugstore haul did definitely help though, my eye was still frozen from the ER so I wasn’t in pain so I could actually enjoy it! Haha

      • I know a girl who scratched her cornea and she had to wear an eye patch for a while… like a pirate, arrrrh! 😛 Yes, it’s really nice out but rest up, you have all summer to enjoy the weather!

      • Thankfully I didn’t need an eye patch, but today it feels soooo much better! I can actually be outside as long as I have sunglasses on. Also, my eye looks slightly more normal! 😀 Kind of bummed that I didn’t end up needing a cool pirate nickname though, haha!

  4. Hope you start feeling better soon! At least a mini drugstore haul helped make you feel better for now. That micellar water is a HG product for me. Also love the color of that lipstick. I haven’t tried any Essence mascaras but I’m curious about them so I hope you post a review!
