Violet Voss x Laura Lee Eye Shadow Palette

Hi guys! Oh my goodness you need this palette! I’m just going to cut straight to the chase, it’s amazing. Okay, now that I have that out of the way… I started seeing YouTuber Laura Lee’s collaboration with Violet Voss pop up all over the Snapchat of basically every beauty YouTuber that I follow. I had heard of her, but I hadn’t really watched any of her videos. I couldn’t believe how amazing this palette looked! The swatches looked super pigmented, and buttery smooth so I was instantly intrigued. I started watching her channel and was hooked! After watching her video where she talks about the palette in more detail, I knew I had to mark the pre-sale date on my calendar because I knew these babies would fly off the shelf. Boy, am I glad I did because I am in love!

The palette itself is mostly warm toned, but she did add a few cool toned shades as well to balance it out. There is a nice mix of mattes, shimmers and metallic shades so you have everything you need for a complete look. The palette is nice and compact so between that and the ability to do several different complete eye shadow looks with it, it would be great for travel. If you haven’t already seen it, you need to see her video on this where she talks about each shadow and why she picked each name. You can find that video here! A lot of the names are inspired by Alabama which is where she is from. I’m not sure if this was just for the pre-sale but the palette also came with a photo signed by Laura Lee herself which was a nice touch!

Can we please take a moment of silence to appreciate how beautiful these shadows are? The metallic/duo-chrome shades are by far my favourites and as soon as I swatched them I fell in love. I think my favourite shades will be Smashlee, Bitty, 1988 and Rammer Jammer. They are just as buttery smooth as I thought they would be and are very pigmented. A little goes a long way so I feel like this palette is a good investment. I did wear a few of them yesterday and they applied just as beautifully as I suspected they would. The matte shades I wore blended beautifully into the crease and the shimmers practically applied themselves.

I’ll be doing a look with this palette shortly because you know I can’t wait to post one so stay tuned for that! The pre-sale of the palette sold out, however it will be available again on June 29, 2016 at 10 am PST on the Violet Voss website. The only bummer was that since this is ordered from an American website, I had to contend with high shipping charges ($18) and the exchange rate. However, I still think it was worth it, at least for me personally!

Have you tried any Violet Voss products before? Let me know in the comments down below. I’m SUPER impressed with this palette (as if you couldn’t already tell) so I think I would consider ordering more!

xoxo,

Robyn

  1. Pretty! So many wearable shades and then a few POPS of colour! But yikes on the $18 shipping. I’ve been wanting to shop online lately but then I stop myself with the exchange rate. UGH.

    • Yeah the shipping wasn’t fun nor was the exchange however, if this palette was sold at sephora it would probably have cost close to what I ended up paying for it. It’s a pretty big palette (maybe a bit smaller than UD Vice). I could have shipped it to the border to save on shipping which I do occasionally depending on what I’m ordering but that’s a 30 minute drive each way so you have to factor in gas and how much time you’re wasting in the car. Either way, I’m in love with this palette and it was well worth the cost!!
