A Week of Peanut Butter & Jelly

Too-Faced-Peanut-Butter-And-Jelly

Hi guys! Inspired by Makeup Your Mind‘s Challenge Weeks, I thought I would wear nothing but my recently acquired Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette for a work week (five days) to challenge myself to come up with different looks using it. This post will also include my review of the palette, as well as swatches! I’m a bit late to the Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette but it’s been hard to get a hold of, especially considering I live in Canada.

For this post I’m not going to go into detail on the rest of my makeup aside from what’s on the eyes for these looks, but if you have any questions, ask away in the comments!

Review & Swatches

First, let’s chat about the palette as a whole. It contains mostly neutral shades that lean on the warm side, as well as some pops of purple. This palette also contains both matte and shimmer shades.A smaller palette like this one is quite limited in terms of what shades are included so naturally it can’t contain everything like a larger palette has the potential to. I do think it has enough variety that you can do quite a few looks with it. This is part of the reason I’ve challenged myself to wear it five different ways. You’ll start noticing a theme with my looks, but I’ll let you discover that as you browse through the looks I created. Oh, and did I mention it smells like peanut butter?!

L to R: Spread the Love, Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter Cup, Bananas, Peanut Brittle, Jammin’, Extra Creamy, Jelly & Nuts About You

There really wasn’t any shades in the palette that I found overly disappointing. The mattes didn’t swatch well (which I find is usually the case) but they blended beautifully into the lid. The shimmers glided onto the lid with minimal effort and I had no issues blending them together. Some stand out shades would be Peanut Brittle (swoon!), Peanut Butter and Bananas. I didn’t mention either of the two purples, isn’t that shocking? While they are pretty shades, they didn’t perform as nicely as the other shades.

Overall, I really enjoyed this palette and look forward to wearing it more! It was fun to challenge myself to wear it all week but to wear it differently each time. I have a habit of wearing the same look with a palette time and time again (unless I have something specific in mind to post here, as I try not to post repeats) so this got me out of that rut.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Five Ways

Look #1: Give Me Glamour!

Crease: Peanut Butter
Outer-V: Peanut Butter
Lid: Bananas
Under Eye: Peanut Butter
Brow Bone: Extra Creamy
Mascara: Essence Get BIG Lashes
Eyeliner: Too Faced Perfect Eyes Water Proof Eyeliner in Perfect Black (water line) and Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black

Okay so for my first look, I used Peanut Butter a lot, but it is the shade that inspired this whole palette so it’s a good place to start. I wanted to do something fairly neutral with a bit of shimmer, a well as add glamour with a wing!

Look #2: All About that Jelly!

Crease: Peanut Butter
Outer-V: Jammin’
Lid: Jelly
Under Eye: Jammin’
Brow Bone: Spread the Love
Mascara: Essence Get BIG Lashes

This look was completely inspired by my love of purple eye shadow. I didn’t really like Spread the Love on my brow bone (I’m too pale) but it did look better in person than it did on camera.

Look #3: Warm & Toasty!

Crease: Peanut Butter & Nuts About You
Outer Lid & Under Eye: Nuts About You
Inner Lid & Under Eye: Nuts About You
Centre of Lid & Under Eye: Peanut Brittle
Under Eye: Peanut Butter
Brow Bone: Extra Creamy
Mascara: Essence Get BIG Lashes

It wouldn’t be a week in my life if I didn’t add in a warm look and the shades Nuts About You and Peanut Brittle deliver! The more I write about this palette and look at the shade names, the hungrier I get.

Crease: Peanut Butter
Lid: Peanut Butter Cup
Under Eye: Peanut Butter
Brow Bone: Extra Creamy
Mascara: Essence Get BIG Lashes
Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Demolition

For this look I wanted to feature the shade Peanut Butter Cup. I normally would add a bit of a darker shade to the outer-v but there really isn’t one in this palette that would work. A shade like Too Faced’s Triple Fudge from the Chocolate Bar Palette would have been perfect for that purpose. But, to continue my challenge I didn’t want to add in another palette, as much as I wanted to!

Look #5: Keeping it Simple

Crease: Peanut Butter (big surprise, right?)
Lid: Spread the Love
Outer-V: Peanut Butter Cup
Under Eye: Peanut Butter
Brow Bone: Extra Creamy (another huge surprise!)
Mascara: Essence Get BIG Lashes
Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Demolition

For my last look I wanted to do something really simple and light on the eyes. Yes, I used Peanut Butter for my crease yet again, but it really is the perfect crease/transition shade. I wish I had a bigger pan of it because I could see myself using this a lot!

So that is my week (and by that I mean a work week of five days) of using nothing but the Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette on the eyes! Near the end it got a bit tough to think of other ideas of looks to do but I made it!

A special thank you to my parents who picked up this Ulta exclusive for me the last time they went to the United States. Unfortunately as this palette is an Ulta exclusive, it’s unavailable in Canada 😦 Thankfully my parents checked the Ulta’s in Duluth and Minneapolis, Minnesota each time they have gone the past few months and finally found one that had them in stock.

Have you tried the Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette yet? Let me know in the comments down below!

Robyn

  1. Aw you lucky dawg on getting this from Ulta. I’m still puzzled why Ulta doesn’t ship to Canada! And they have so many exclusives too.
I love how yo managed to get such a variety of looks from this – my fav is Look #2: All About that Jelly!
This palette looks amazing and I love PB&J stuff! Once I bought Jelly Belly in grape, and then in peanut butter and mixed them. It kinda worked, but not really…

    • I agree, it’s silly that they don’t ship to Canada! It’s too bad we live in opposite ends of the province because I’m going to the states next weekend and I’ll be able to go to Ulta! and thanks, I think look #2 is one of my favourites too! It’s definitely the most different of all the ones I did for this post anyways! 🙂

    • Me too! I can’t believe it took three trips to the States and a few different Ultra stores for my mom to track it down for me! Crazy. It’s really too bad it’s an Ulta exclusive, booo! But yes, super versatile for such a tiny palette!

  2. Thanks for the shoutout! I love that you did this too – it’s so nice to see other people come up with a variety of looks using the same palette. And I mean… the PB&J palette basically owns my heart so I’m sooo happy to see continued posts on this beauty! Love your looks!

    • Anytime!! Yes, it’s definitely a stunning palette and basically won my heart over upon first glance. Such a bummer that it’s an Ulta exclusive. It was definitely fun creating a variety of different looks with it and I was impressed by how much I was able to do with it! That little palette packs a big punch!
