Hi guys! I’ve been getting emails from Sephora inviting me to visit their website to explore summer trends and it got me really inspired. As soon as I saw them I really wanted to find a way to incorporate them onto the blog.
Today I’ll be tackling the “Graphic Eye” trend! A Graphic Eye seems to be an over-the-top almost animated looking eye makeup look. All of the examples I have seen have incorporated bold, unique eyeliner, whether it be a bold colour or drawn boldly. This isn’t showing on their #TrendingatSephora page anymore, but I still thought it would be interesting to talk about nonetheless.
For my take on this summer trend, I decided to simply add a twist to a look I would normally wear by adding bright purple winged liner. Many could say that winged liner isn’t anything unusual, but I very rarely wear it myself. I find it’s very much 50/50 whether or not it turns out so I often don’t do it because I don’t want to risk having to re-do my makeup. However, the NYX Vivid Brights Liquid Eyeliner I used made it a breeze! I was skeptical because I usually prefer a pen-style tip like the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner but, I ended up very impressed!
Primer: Nivea Post Shave Balm in Sensitive
Foundation: L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in Classic Ivory
Concealer: Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Fair Neutral & Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Concealer in Ivory (both shades mixed)
Powder: Maybelline Matte + Poreless Translucent Powder
Blush: NARS Orgasm
Contour: Anastasia Beverly Hills Fawn
Highlight: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter (Pressed) in Pearl
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion (original). Kat Von D Innerstellar Palette – Gravitron (transition), Dios (crease & inner corner), Astrological (all over lid & inner part of under eye) and Darkstar (outer part of under eye). NYX Vivid Brights Liquid Eyeliner in Vivid Violet (winged liner). Essence Get BIG Lashes Mascara (lashes).
Brows: L’Oreal Brow Artist Shaper in Blonde and L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper in Light to Medium
Lips: Essence Lip Pencil in In the Nude & Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Native
I was very happy with how this look came out as a whole. This is definitely a summer trend that I would revisit and play around with. I also tried to give this look an ethereal vibe. This is something the Kat Von D Innerstellar Palette seems to bring out of me. Can I also just say that my favourite lip combination for the moment is Essence In the Nude Lip Liner and Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Native? I don’t gravitate to nude lips but, this pink nude is my go-to lately. It goes with everything.

You look so good in purple! Loving the graphic liner look – are those NYX Liquid liners a brush tip?
Aw thank you!! Yes, the NYX Liquid Liners are a brush tip. I didn’t think I would like it, as I prefer a pen-tip for liquid liner, but this was the most accessible/in-expensive bright coloured liquid liner that I could easily grab in town so my choices were slim. However, I was pleasantly surprised! Given that I am super-challenged at liquid liner, this worked really well!
The graphic liner looks great. I like how you kept the skin luminous looking – keeps it all from looking too much. 🙂
Thank you!! I really feared going overboard so I tried to keep it as simple & glowy as I could! If you look up graphic eyes in Instagram there are some pretty “out there” looks, which I enjoy looking at, but are so not me at all!
