Makeup Haul: Sephora, Ulta & Morphe!

Sephora-Ulta-Morphe-Haul

Hi guys! I mentioned yesterday that I went to Minnesota to see Gwen Stefani and I talked about the makeup look that I wore as well as the event itself. Now it is time to get into the important stuff, the makeup haul! I went to Sephora, Ulta and placed a Morphe Brushes order before I left so I’ve got a lot to share with you!

For a beauty blogger who loves Sephora, you would probably be surprised to find out that I only get to go to an actual store a few times a year. This was my second (and third) trip to a Sephora store in 2016! This was also my first trip to an Ulta store this year as well. I don’t think I had been to one since July 2015 which was my last trip to Minnesota. I always try to plan in advance as much as I can so that I stick to my mental “shopping list” to avoid going overboard.

What I Bought at Ulta

My first stop was at Ulta since we stopped in Duluth, MN for lunch and there is an Ulta in the same mall where we ate. I knew that I wanted to focus on brands that I can’t get in Canada so I immediately scoped out the Lorac and Laura Gellar displays. This purchase was 100% inspired by What Should I Buy? At Ulta over on the blog Classic Maggie! I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to focus on at Ulta and that post put me on the right track.

Lorac | Pro Eye Shadow Palette 2

I didn’t own any Lorac Palettes so I knew I had to check them out. As soon as I saw the blue shade, Navy and the purplely-metallic shade Chrome, I knew this was the one. I haven’t used it yet but I’m really excited to start playing with the many, many colour combinations this palette contains! The metallic/shimmery shades swatch like a dream. I always struggle swatching mattes but they felt promising.

Laura Gellar | Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Charming Pink

The infamous Laura Gellar Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators were another item high on my priority list of things to look at. I decided to pass on the beloved Guilded Honey because I don’t tend to wear a lot of gold highlights and I feel like Prosecco Pop from the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette is enough… for now. So, I went for Charming Pink since I’ve been loving pink highlights lately and this one looks gorgeous.

Urban Decay | All Nighter Foundation in 0.5

I knew trying a new foundation was a must for this trip. I rarely try new foundations because drugstore ones that I can easily get tend to air on the orangey side (for me anyways) except for my beloved L’Oreal Pro-Matte, and I’m skeptical ordering online since shades vary so much brand to brand. I decided to take advantage of being near a Sephora for a few days and I sampled foundations to pick one out. I ended up going with the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation. It dries matte (but not super matte, it looks fairly natural) and has decent coverage (I don’t need a lot of coverage, I prefer something in the middle). It wore nicely all day without making me look shiny so it was a win!

I did also sample the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation and enjoyed it as well. Neither were bad, I just liked this one slightly more!

Too Faced | Born This Way Concealer in Very Fair

A new concealer was another item on my “must-buy” list. I’ve been loving the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer for a long time, but I felt like I needed something a bit more hydrating for the summer so I chose the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer. My under eye area hasn’t been as smooth as usual so I thought a change-up would help. I do prefer the shade of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer as it’s much lighter so I may mix them. So far I’ve been enjoying the formula of the Born This Way Concealer from Too Faced, just wish the shade was a tad lighter. When everything is blended out on my face this concealer works well with the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation in 0.5 despite them looking quite different swatched.

Urban Decay | Vice Lipstick in 1993

This lipstick shade has been on my wish list since it originally launched with the Revolution Matte Lipsticks and was always sold out. I think this shade would be absolutely fantastic for fall. It’s a beautiful nude-brown shade and reminds me of the 90’s. This is in the Comfort Matte formula which is probably the most appealing of their new formulas to me.

Urban Decay | Vice Lipstick in Trance

I decided I was going to narrow it down to just two of the Vice Lipsticks and I wanted to try another formula so I chose a shade in the Metallized range. I don’t really own any metallic lipsticks so I thought this would be fun. It’s a nude-mauve shade so it has some shimmer to it without being bold. They do make some bold shades in this formula which I’m actually quite curious about. I’m not really one to wear a green lipstick but the shade Junkie sure looks interesting! Anyways, I’m looking forward to trying this out to see how it wears.

What I Ordered from Morphe Brushes

Morphe-Brushes-Haul-Jaclyn-Hill

Since I knew I was going to the States I took the opportunity to place an order with Morphe and have it shipped to an address just past the border so that I could save a bit on shipping. I timed it out so that it would be there when I arrived in Minnesota.

M523 | Tapered Powder

This brush looks like it would be great for doing a light contour. I mostly use the G3 for contouring but I thought it was time to switch it up and try this out. I’ve seen it raved about on YouTube, actually all of these brushes are YouTube staples!

 M426 | Tapered Duo Powder

If you’ve watched any of my videos on YouTube you’ll know that I use a Sonia Kashuk brush for my powder to set my face and I dislike it because it sheds so much. I’m hoping this brush will replace that one, fingers crossed!

M310 | Large Soft Fan

I love using a fan brush to sweep excess powder from my face or to apply my highlight. I don’t think this one would work for highlighting based on how round it is, but I’ll give it a try. I’ll mostly use this for blending/sweeping off powder.

M527 | Deluxe Pointed Powder

I don’t really have a brush that I like using for bronzer so I thought this one would fit the bill. It’s supposedly a dupe for the MAC 135 and it’s less than half the price. Looking forward to trying this brush for sure!

M432 | Flat Liner Definer

I see Jaclyn Hill use this brush all the time for her under eye and it’s always intrigued me. I typically use a pencil brush for that!

M321 | Bullet Crease

This is a tiny little brush meant for adding definition to the crease. I always enjoy expanding my eye makeup brush arsenal to further improve my eye makeup skills (it’s all about the brushes!) so this one had to make it’s way into my digital cart!

Whew, so there are my three hauls from my trip to Minnesota! Now that I’ve taken pictures of everything all nice, clean and new I can’t wait to start playing with it all. I’ll post full reviews in the coming month or so as I test out each product and get a feel for how much I enjoy them.

Have you hauled anything recently? Let me know in the comments down below!

xoxo,

Robyn

  1. Haha I go to Sephora at least once a month, even just to see what’s the newest trends! 😛 It’s difficult when I live / work so close to them!
Oooh your Ulta purchases! I would buy ALL the Lorac stuff if I was there! That palette looks like what I wished the Smashbox Double Exposure was…
That UD Trance lipstick looks really pretty – just HOW were you able to narrow down to 2 colours with all the options?!

    • Haha, yeah if I was that close to Sephora it would be bad news for my bank account! haha…

I’m SUPER impressed with the Lorac 2 palette so far, I’m going to have to take a closer look at the Lorac Pro 1 and 3 next time I’m in the states… Beautiful shadows!

Haha, I actually talk about picking the two lipsticks on the podcast tomorrow with Cat! It was so difficult to pick though… Nearly impossible with 100 choices. I knew I wanted 1993 for sure, and then picking the second one was a challenge! Had to limit myself to two though since the outlet mall was a success earlier that day!
