Hi guys! Given that Halloween is ONE week away, I thought it would be fun to get into the spirit and share a simple Halloween manicure! I love split manicures like this because they look great but are so quick and easy to achieve. So, to achieve this simple Halloween manicure, I did a split manicure with the classic festive combination of orange and black.
Products Used:
OPI Chip Skip
OPI Nail Envy Maintenance
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Orange Zest (1 coat)
OPI Metallic 4 Life (1 coat)
Glisten & Glow HK Girl Fast Drying Top Coat
I’ve got to say, I am not a fan of the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri formula. I find it quite thick and goopy so though I only needed one coat because of how thick it applies it really doesn’t dry that quick. Anyways, that aside, the whole process was fairly successful.
Steps for a split manicure:
- Apply base coat and paint all nails with the first polish.
- Apply fast drying top coat.
- Once your nails are completely dry, patience is key, take scotch tape and apply it to each nail to cover up the bottom half. I always take the tape and stick it to my hands a few times to remove some of the sticky.
- One by one, paint each finger with the second polish. I remove the tape immediately after painting each finger.
- Apply top coat.
What do you have on your nails today? Do you have something festive on your nails too? Let me know in the comments down below!

How fun! I still have yet to try Scotch tape for a mani – looks easy enough!
I completely forgot to do anything “Halloweeny” for my mani this week – eeks! Maybe I’ll switch it up later this week in time for Monday. (I’ve got a pale pink on my nails, from Essence, one of their LE polishes, I forget the name. 😛 )

I love scotch tape manicures! So easy… the only bummer is trying to be patient between the first colour drying and applying the tape. If you try to stick the tape too soon you pull up the base colour.

Love these festive nails, especially the extra pizzazz with the sparkly black! I can never get split manicures to work for me – there’s always a gap somewhere that allows one of the colours to get onto the other side. Maybe I’m just not patient enough applying the tape!

Thanks! I usually take some of the sticky off the tape by applying it to my hand a few times but then when I do put it on I press it pretty hard onto the nail, and I take off the tape right away. Might depend on the polish though. I tend to use a glitter as my second colour and those tend to be thicker
