Hi guys! I’m back from my brief hiatus and I’m ready to share my thoughts on the newly launched Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick as part of my Love for Lipstick series. As you probably know by now, I am in love with Urban Decay and in love with liquid lipstick so when they announced this combination, my heart nearly stopped. The Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick line claims to be waterproof and long-lasting. It also claims to be pigmented and transfer proof. It comes in two formulas – comfort matte and metallized.
After much deliberation I chose the comfort matte shade Backtalk which is a mauve-nude shade. The shade is quite beautiful and I really love the way it looks on my lips. The packaging is your typical liquid lipstick tube with a doe-foot applicator. I really love the embossed handle, I find it very eye-catching.
The formula is quite nice to apply, I found that the Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick applied very smoothly. The instructions advise to apply one coat, and to let it dry completely without your lips touching. Although it is quite pigmented, you can add a second coat. I’ve always applied two coats when wearing it. Again, you need to wait for it to fully dry before pressing your lips together.

Now, it absolutely breaks my heart to say this, but I do not enjoy this liquid lipstick at all. While it is great when first applied, and even at noon it still looked good (I ate breakfast and drank tea and water between pictures 1 and 2), in the afternoon things took a turn. Although my lips didn’t feel dry at all, the formula balled up and crumbled off my lips. Even when it balled up, it still didn’t feel dry, it felt quite soft. Very, very strange.
So, I would have to say this is a miss for me. There are much better liquid lipsticks on the market. While it saddens me that I don’t love the Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick as much as I wanted to, I will stick with their regular lipstick formula which is fantastic.

I was really hoping I’d love them too!!! I think this shade is available in the regular lipstick line so I’m going to check that out because I do love the colour!

Thank you! I’m so glad it isn’t just me that had the same issue with this product. I tried one of the metallized ones, and it did the same thing after a couple of hours.
I do love their Vice lipsticks, though. Those are great.

Yeah I’ve seen pretty negative reviews for the whole line up ☹️ still had to try it for myself though but I’m so sad that it didn’t work out!

How disappointing! I thought this would be another hit from UD – since you love UD so much!
I can’t stand matte lips to begin with and looking at the progression of this one through the day just made me apply a whack of lip balm on my lips! I canNOT handle not having something emollient on my lips. Ugh.
The last disappointing product for me was the THREE Cleansing oil which I just wrote about – so much hype and it didn’t work for me.

Yeah I went into this… with my bar set lower than it initially was when I saw the announcement (I had seen iffy reviews) and even with that, I’m still disappointed that this didn’t work out. I really thought Urban Decay + liquid lipstick would be a dream come true for me! 😢 I love the shade though, so I’ll probably still wear it for times I don’t really need anything super long-wearing.

Such a pretty shade but really disappointing that it didn’t perform! I think I’ve heard others echo your comments about their liquid lipsticks – kind of mind blowing considering they do lipsticks so well!

I know, right?! Ugh, I’m soooo saddened by how much this didn’t work out. I love the shade though so I’ll keep this to use when I don’t need something long-wearing.. and I’ll probably pick up the regular lipstick version of it at some point. But, ugh! So disappointing!!!
