Hi guys! I’m back today with my first empties post of 2017! Can you believe we are nearly through with Q1 already? Time is just flying this year and I have a feeling it is going to continue on this way. So, today I have a fairly decent sized empties post for you. I find the quarterly format really works best for the pace in which I finish things. So here we go…
The Cleansers
Mario Badescu | Cucumer Cleansing Lotion
This was a nice and fresh toner to use after cleansing the face and is ideal for normal to oily skin. It had a light cucumber scent to it and I found the skin feeling great. Would I repurchase it? Yes, I’d take a look for it the next time I’m in an Ulta store. It looks like it retails for about $15 to $26 USD depending on the size.
St. Ives | Green Tea Scrub
I went through two of these actually this past quarter as my husband is using this as well now. I’ve spoken about this scrub so many times so I’ll just cut to the chase. Would I repurchase it? Yes! It’s definitely a favourite! You can find my full review here!
Nivea | Purifying Toner
I’ve spoken about this toner in past favourites (twice actually!) so I think my feelings about this toner are pretty clear! I feel like it is helping with my skin that has been a nightmare lately. Would I repurchase it? Yes! Already have!
Garnier | SkinActive Micellar Water (Waterproof)
I’ve emptied quite a few of these beauties over the past year and have done a full review on it as well. This past quarter I have emptied two! Would I repurchase it? Yes! Although, I’m currently trying out the one made for mattifying.
The Moisturizers
Garnier | Lift Anti-Wrinkling Firming Day Cream
Since I normally like Garnier skincare products, I decided to switch things up and try out a daytime moisturizer for every day under my makeup. It has a pleasant and light floralish scent to it. Would I repurchase it? No! There is probably a quarter of this left in the container but I just can’t finish it. My face is way too oily too quickly when I use this. I do have oily skin though so if you have dry skin you might like this.
Nivea | Vital Soja Anti-Age Night Care
I was using this as my nightly moisturizer before bed to finish off my bed time skin care routine. It has kind of a powdery scent (does that make sense?) and absorbed nicely into the skin. I did find that initially my skin stung a bit after using it though. Would I repurchase it? At first I would have said no, but now I’m kind of considering it. After the initial sting of it stopped, I did find the fine lines on the high points of my cheeks looked a lot better…
L’Oreal | Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Dual Overnight Moisturizer
I received this in an Influenster Vox Box complimentary for review and have been using it periodically ever since my initial review. Would I repurchase it? Maybe. I did like it, but I usually go for anti-aging night creams rather than brightening ones. I did like how this made my skin look though.
The Haircare
Batiste | Dry Shampoo (Original and Tropical)
I probably went through more than two of these during the last quarter but these were the two bottles that seemed to survive. They have come up in multiple empties posts in the past. I’ve talked about this dry shampoo time and time again and it’s a clear favourite. Would I repurchase it? Yes! I always have at least one of these on hand. Dry shampoo is key to keeping my red hair vibrant by slowing down fading due to over-washing.
Herbal Essences | Set Me Up Beautiful Bold Hold Hairspray
I think I have had this thing for years and it has finally emptied. I really don’t use hairspray all that often. Mostly for a light misting to keep fly-aways at bay or to lock in a hairstyle. Would I repurchase it? Maybe. I’m not too loyal to hairspray and for how little I use, I’ll buy whatever is on sale and doesn’t have a super strong scent.
Miscellaneous
Fresh | Sugar Lip Treatment (Rosé)
I received a sample of this with a set I got as a Sephora Point Perk at some point. I mostly used this on light makeup days or even at night to moisturize my lips before bed. Would I repurchase it? No. While it did make my lips feel great, I just can’t justify spending $29 CAD on a lip balm.
Too Faced | Hangover Replenishing Face Primer
I received this travel sized primer in a giveaway hosted by Nicole over at Pretty Ruff Life and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it this winter! It adds some extra moisture to the face while priming your skin for your foundation and so on. Would I repurchase it? Yes, but I haven’t yet. I was going to purchase it during the Sephora Spring VIB Sale, however, I think this is a product I wouldn’t use as much during the summer. I’m going to hold off until next fall.
Sally Hansen | Extra Strength Nail Polish Remover
When it comes to removing nail polish, I want something strong and fast so that I’m not rubbing away at my nails. I usually go for either pure acetone, or something like this. Would I repurchase it? Yes! I’ve already got another bottle on the go!
Caprina | Fresh Goat’s Milk Foaming Milk Bath (Lavender)
I usually have a bottle of bubble bath on the go and I decided to try this one out as it looked like it would be quite hydrating for the winter months. Would I repurchase it? No. It’s not that the formula wasn’t nice, but I discovered I absolutely do not like the smell of lavender. I finished the bottle but, it was a struggle.
Essence| Lash Princess False Effect Mascara (not pictured)
I did a full review of this mascara in February so you can read all of my thoughts on this mascara there. Would I repurchase it? Yes! I’ll probably try a different mascara next, but I enjoyed it enough to pick up another one at some point.
If you made it to the end of this post, you deserve a cookie! Anyways, those are my empties from the Q1! I’m excited to finally throw out all these bottles and start all over again and see where we land for Q2 empties!
What was your favourite product that your emptied over the last quarter? Let me know in the comments down below!
xoxo,
Robyn
I’ve been meaning to try that St Ives Green Tea scrub – had it a long time ago but gave it away without trying it for some reason. 😛 My friend needed a scrub so I gave her that.
How are you finding the mattifying version of the Garnier Micellar Water?
Too bad about the Garnier Lift Anti-Wrinkling Firming Day Cream – any time I see something for serious anti-aging, I’m concerned if it will be a grease pit. I don’t mind for night but not for day time.
I have a sample of that Too Face primer – need to bust it open.
And I just recently picked up that Essence Lash Princess mascara based on your review! Will best trying it soon.
Great job on the empties!

Hope you enjoy the Essence Lash Princess! At least if it doesn’t work out, their mascaras are so inexpensive!
As for the Garnier mattifying micellar water, I like it, I do think it is helping keep my skin matte. However, it isn’t as good for removing makeup as the water proof version is. I’ll probably pick up another waterproof one for night time and use this more for in the morning to remove excess oil before I do my makeup.

My local blogger buddy raved about the Essence Lash Princess too. With so many mascara options, and especially for us beauty bloggers, it seems like we can just keep trying out new ones huh? Hahaha! I have like three unopened mascaras to test out and two currently in use to review! 😛 😛 😛

Haha, yeah, I always feel like I need to try a new mascara each time I finish one, even if I loved the last one I used. It’s like I’m on a never-ending quest to try them all!
