Hi guys! Today I wanted to share with you a deep and smoky makeup look that I did a couple of weeks ago using the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Shadow Palette. I don’t often do something with strictly dark, matte shades so I thought it would be fun to test this out. I’ve kept the entire look matte so I’m not even wearing any highlighter *gasp*! The lipstick is creamy though so it adds a bit of shine to the look to break things up.
Products Used:
Primer: Nivea Post Shave Balm (Sensitive)
Foundation: L’Oreal Pro Matte in Classic Ivory
Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape in Fair
Powder: Becca Blotting Perfector
Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed
Contour: Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Kit – Sombre & Lucid (mixed)
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion (original). Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Shadow Palette – Lazarus (transition), Saleous (crease, lid and under eye). L’Oreal Voluminous Smouldering Eyeliner in Black (waterline). Essence Lash Princess False Effect Mascara (lashes).
Brows:Annabelle Skinny Brow Liner in Universal Taupe and L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper (clear)
Lips: Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Crisis
I really liked the way that my eye makeup turned out. I tend to stray away from dark eye makeup but I think this is simple enough that it doesn’t really need any particular occasion. I’m not really sure how I feel about the lipstick though. I really enjoy Urban Decay Vice in the shade Crisis colour-wise but I don’t know if I like the formula. I find it really difficult to apply it without making a mess. Maybe it’s just me though? I’ll have to check to see if my other lipstick in the cream formula is the same.
What do you have on your face today? Let me know in the comments down below!

I really liked how this look turned out! Sometimes dark eyes can get a little muddy, but you did a great job!
That’s weird that Crisis is hard to apply. I would’ve thought UD’s cream lipsticks would be the smoothest out of all of its formulas. On the plus side, the colour looks great on you!
PS, I nominated you for the Liebster Award: https://polishedandinspired.wordpress.com/2017/05/05/liebster-award/

Thanks for the nomination!!
I don’t know what it is about the cream lipsticks from the Vice range, I can’t even describe the way it is difficult to apply. I just feel like it never looks great when initially applied? I have to really work at it. Maybe a liner would help.. I’ll have to try that…

I like the matte smokey eye on you! And you offset it nicely with a juicy looking lip colour. I finally wore the Vice lipstick in Rapture which is a cream formula and I found it wasn’t too difficult to apply. I just dab it rather than the typical side to side motion.

Thank you!! I’ll need to try dabbing it next time… or I think maybe even wearing a lip liner might help as well… or both!
