Hi guys! June was another month where I only managed to finish one book, however, I have to say, it was a pretty fantastic one! Despite that I can say that we are midway through July and attempting to catch up on my reading goal seems a bit more attainable. The nicer weather means weekends at the cottage which means reading on the deck with minimal distraction. A book worm’s paradise!
Let’s dive into the only book I finished in June…
The Circle by Dave Eggers
I have to say, choosing this book was largely motivated by seeing the trailers for the movie earlier this year. I’m one of those people who if I know it’s a book, I’ll try to read it before seeing the movie. Anyways, I’m glad I picked up this book because I absolutely LOVED it. The Circle is about Mae Holland who is a new hire at a very powerful internet company (think Facebook plus Google and then some). Thrilled by the modern ways of the company and their active community, Mae feels very fortunate to be working for such an innovative and highly influential company. What I loved about the book is that although it is a work of fiction, it brings up some interesting questions about privacy.
Word count: 156,240
Total Read in June: 156,240 words
Goal Progress:
I thought it would be easier to track this in a chart format. The pink represents the goal for each month(s) and the purple is what I actually read. The final column shows my progress compared to where I should be with my yearly goal (reading 240,000 words per month).
Have you read anything lately? Let me know in the comments down below! You can find all my previous Love of Reading posts right here if you’re looking for some summer reading suggestions!

I saw the trailer for The Circle and thought it seemed really interesting! I like reading books before I see movies too so I’ll have to add this one to my list.
