Hi guys! I don’t know about you but when the weather warms up, I don’t wear a lot of makeup on the weekends. Between going for hikes and spending time at the cottage, I tend to go very minimal. With that said, I do still put a little bit of makeup on most of the time. So, let’s take a closer look at what makes the cut for this minimal makeup routine!
It Cosmetics | CC Cream
What I like about the It Cosmetics CC Cream is that it has SPF and lightly evens out my skin tone. It’s great for quickly applying to the face when you feel like you want just a hint of coverage. I don’t want to get too much into this product as I plan on doing a review shortly, but aside from this type of usage, I don’t like it as an every day foundation. If I’m wearing any other makeup with this (blush, etc) it ends up looking very patchy throughout the day if it gets warm out (this could be due to my oily skin type). Giant areas will completely disappear so if you’re wearing anything else it’s super noticeable. If you’re wearing this on it’s own with a powder to set it, it wouldn’t be as noticeable so that is why I like it only for my minimal routine.
Maybelline | Fit Me Matte + Poreless Translucent Powder
Any mattifying powder is essential to my routine as I need to set my foundation to help combat oil but this happens to be the one I’ve been mostly using at the moment.
Revlon | Mega Multiplier Mascara*
This is definitely an interchangeable product in my minimal routine but this is the mascara I am using at the moment (I have also recently reviewed it!). A hint of mascara on my lashes (just one coat) is a step that I never skip. I feel like it helps polish my overall appearance even if I am going minimal.
Annabelle | Skinny Brow Liner in Universal Medium
Filling in my brows, even just quickly, also is a step that I never skip. I’ve been using a medium brown shade lately to closer match my current darker hair colour. Aside from coordinating with my hair, this is another quick step that I find helps keep me looking a little more polished. I picked up the Annabelle Skinny Brow Liner as they are pretty inexpensive and I wanted to see if this would match. So far I’ve been impressed!
Buxom | Full-On Lip Cream in Berry Blast
The final step is either a tinted lip balm or a lip gloss to finish off. This helps rehydrate my lips from all the matte lipsticks I wear throughout the week and is a nice finishing touch. I recently picked up Buxom’s Full-On Lip Cream in the shade Berry Blast so I’ve been mostly wearing this one lately.
You’ll notice that I didn’t mention concealer at all in this minimal makeup routine… on most minimal days I don’t bother with it. That being said, I do occasionally add in that step but it’s usually unlikely during the summer months.
