Hi guys! Today I’ve finally got a new addition to my Love for Lipstick series – Make Up For Ever Artist Acrylip in the shade 500 (Lilac). I had seen quite a few great reviews on this product so I had to pick one up last month during a trip to Sephora. Even so, I was a bit skeptical as they look very similar to the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks which I’m not really fond of. Nonetheless, I thought I’d give them a try anyways.
The Make Up For Ever Artist Acrylip are inspired by the pigmentation of acrylic paints. The tube style and cushion applicator allow for control over how much of the product you want to apply. The applicator is quite easy to use though and it wasn’t hard to get a clean application. The formula of these feel quite comfortable on the lips. My lips never really felt dry at all throughout the day.
Make Up For Ever Artist Acrylip Wear Test
- 8:00 AM – Freshly applied
- 12:00 PM – Pre-lunch check-in
- 12:45 PM – Post-lunch check-in
- 5:00 PM – Final check-in
Okay so the wear-time isn’t that great. It dried down quickly to a demi-matte but it really didn’t stand up to much. However, a wash of lilac did remain on my lips and as long as you weren’t as close to me as in the photos above, it really didn’t look that patchy. They really, really reminded me of how I feel about the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. I just… can’t make myself like them. They are really pretty, and I will wear them because I have a few, but I am not compelled to buy more. I much prefer something with a longer wear time if possible. Now, if I was wearing this and not doing a wear test, I’d definitely reapply at lunch. Not a huge deal, but I don’t think I liked this enough to buy more.
Overall, my feelings are kind of “meh” on this one. I love the colour, and the formula does feel comfortable but I’d much prefer a something with a longer wear time. However, if the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks are amongst your favourite I do think you’ll really enjoy these.
What was the last lipstick you tried? Let me know in the comments down below!
xoxo,
Robyn
