Hi guys! Last week I attended the grand opening of the Sleeping Giant Brewing Company’s Tap Room! This was kind of a last minute decision, but I am so glad we went. For those who don’t know, the Sleeping Giant Brewing Company is a brewery local to Thunder Bay, Ontario. It originally opened in 2012 and has recently expanded into a larger location which now features a tap room, as well as a diverse store front. Both the water and the malt are locally sourced which is amazing! I would say locally they are best known for their Northern Logger and their Skull Rock Stout. Their beer is also available through the LCBO so they can be found all over Ontario. I’m pretty new to beer drinking (it never really appealed to me before) but I am quite fond of their Northern Logger.

I forgot to take many photos of the event but one of my favourite parts of the Tap Room was the wall of all of the beer bottles the owners have collected which you can see below. You can find this up on the mezzanine.

Daytona’s Kitchen + Creative Catering was also on site so you could purchase some delicious food from them as well. As always, their food did not disappoint.

Free tours were offered during the event so you could truly appreciate the time consuming process of brewing all of their products. The new location means they can automate a bit more of their process to help them keep up with the high demand of their products.

What is your favourite Craft Beer? I’d love to hear your suggestions! My other favourite, which is also a Northern Ontario gem is the Lake of the Woods Forgotten Lake Blueberry Ale. So delicious! If you are local to Thunder Bay, or in the area, I’d highly recommend checking out Sleeping Giant Brewing Company at 712 MacDonnell Street!
