Oily Skin Essentials

Oily Skin Essentials

Getting through a reasonable amount of time without looking like a shiny mess is one of the struggles of having oily skin. Therefore, I’m always on the prowl for products that claim to mattify. Today I thought I’d share with you a few of the products I am currently using which I’ve found help keep my oil at bay and keep my face looking matte.

L’Oreal | Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

Oily Skin Essentials - L'Oreal Pro-Matte Foundation

A long time favourite of mine, this foundation not only matches my colouration well, but also just seems to wear the best on me. I do have a few high end foundations that I use but this is my tried and true staple. What I love about it is that while it is matte, it isn’t so matte that it doesn’t look like natural skin. It is more of a demi-matte.

Too Faced | Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer

Oily Skin Essentials - Too Faced Primed & Peachy Matte Primer

I picked this up on a whim during the Sephora VIB Rouge Sale and I’ve been very pleased with the results. I’ve found it has not only provided a nice base to apply my  makeup on top of, it also keeps my oily skin at bay. It’s also very soft and creamy so it absorbs nicely into my skin and doesn’t bunch up like some primers do. It feels very lightweight on the skin.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna | Invisimatte Blotting Powder

Oily Skin Essentials - Fenty Blotting Powder

My sister recently gave me this for my birthday and I am loving it so far! When I use this to set my makeup I haven’t had a need, so far, to re-apply. It also diffuses the look of pores as well which is nice because I have some pretty large pores in a few areas on my face. It has been a saviour so far for my oily skin!

Makeup Revolution | Oil Control Fixing Spray

The final step in my makeup routine is this lovely setting spray. Though I’m not sure how much it helps with oil-control, as I’ve seen a VAST improvement since switching my primer and setting powder, what I can say is that it really extends the life of my makeup. Even when I was getting a bit oily by noon, my makeup was otherwise un-disturbed. I’ll have to grab more of this next time in the States so I don’t risk running out!
