Kat Von D Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick Prayer

Kat Von D recently reformulated and rereleased her Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick which to be honest, I wasn’t really a fan of before. I only own one in the previous formula and it is so matte that it is almost painful to apply to the lips (though they may not all be like that). This time around however, it is more of a cream formula instead of super-super matte. I knew I needed to try one out so I picked up the shade Prayer which is described as a deep merlot. I love vampy shades like this so my eye was instantly drawn to it.

The Kat Von D Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick tube is very similar to the original launch which features a studded looking tube to match it’s name. I find that the studs add texture to the tube making it easier to get a good grip on it which made applying a deep shade like this one (which are typically harder to apply) that much easier.

The formula of the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick glides onto the lips SO much nicer than the shade I have from the original line up. The formula reminds me of the Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks in their cream finish. It definitely packs on the pigmentation so you really only need one swipe to get the precise shade from the tube onto your lips. To top it off, the lipsticks are both vegan and cruelty free! The collection also includes a completely white shade which I find really interesting which is meant for mixing. I haven’t purchased it yet, but I am certainly intrigued!

So, this is definitely more of a short-term wear lipstick. It is very creamy and remains creamy so it would be very easy to touch up. I didn’t touch it up for this test so that you can see how it naturally fades/disappears throughout the day. On a normal day I would either reapply after lunch or throw a clear lip balm on to rehydrate my lips. If you left it as I did, it would definitely start to feel a bit dry and look patchy.

Overall, this lipstick feels quite nice on the lips and is very easy to apply. It’s better for short-term wear for sure unless you have the tube with you to reapply. I would probably wear this for half a day and then reapply or wear it for an evening out where I won’t be consuming lots of food. As far as cream lipsticks go, I quite like this one and since I find it much better than the original formulation, I am more inclined to pick up more if there are shades that catch my attention. There were a few shimmer ones that caught my eye today when I was innocently browsing through the Sephora website so those are on my mental shopping list for sure.

  1. I don’t mind not having long wearing lipstick if it means that it feels more comfortable on the lips! Plus, I don’t wear dark colours so it’s not as obvious when the lipstick wears off.
