The first quarter of the year flew by, didn’t it? It honestly feels like I was in Paris celebrating the start of 2018 yesterday, and here we are one quarter of the way through the year already. I know I say this all the time but I really don’t know where the time goes. So with that said, I’ve got my empties from the first quarter of the year for you! I find it more manageable to do quarterly empties posts versus monthly because I really don’t empty THAT many products each month.
Q1 Empties: January to March 2018
Makeup
Tarte | Shape Tape Contour Concealer
I’m blown away that the Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer lasted me pretty much a full year and I used it nearly every day. Though I love the formula and the coverage, I think I love the SIZE of the product nearly as much! It has double the product of most of the concealers that I already had in my collection at the time (ie. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer). When I first purchased it I used to find it looked a bit dry but I haven’t had that issue in a long time. Would I repurchase? Absolutely! It’s so unfortunate that it’s an Ulta exclusive but thankfully my parents picked me up another in the States before this one ran out.
Makeup Revolution | Oil Control Fixing Spray
The Makeup Revolution Oil Control Fixing Spray became a staple in my routine after I hauled it from Ulta last summer. I like how it sets my makeup without adding any shine and I do think it helps control some of my oil, particularly when I’m trying to get a longer day or event out of my makeup. Would I repurchase it? Yes! This was another item my parents picked up from Ulta for me recently!
Kat Von D | Tattoo Liner in Trooper
I’ve had the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper hanging around for quite some time but it’s now either empty or it dried out. This style of liquid eyeliner is definitely my preference and I find it super easy to use. It’s super pigmented and black so it’s quite easy to get a nice, dark, crisp wing using it. Would I repurchase it? Yes, but I have another liquid eyeliner on the go now and I don’t use liquid eyeliner enough to have more than one hanging around.
Make Up For Ever | Excessive Lash Mascara
The Make Up For Ever Excessive Lash Mascara claims to provide volume and bold definition. While I don’t see tons of volume with it, it definitely does separate my usually clumpy looking lashes giving them some definition. Would I repurchase? Probably not, there are so many better drugstore alternatives.
Urban Decay | Troublemaker Mascara
I really, really wanted to love the Urban Decay Trouble Maker Mascara. It fans out my lashes and gives them length, but I don’t see any of the volume that it promises. I ended my review of it on the fence and somewhat optimistic, but months later, I just don’t really like it. I tended to use it more on “natural makeup” days but otherwise barely reached for it. Would I repurchase it? Nope. It’s nice for what it DOES do, but it isn’t worth the money.
Revlon | Super Length Mascara (Waterproof)
The Revlon Super Length Mascara probably hung out in my makeup drawer a little longer than it should have as I stopped using it quite some time ago. I bought it because I wanted a waterproof mascara for a trip that was going to involve waterparks but otherwise didn’t use it much. Would I repurchase it? Nope. It was okay, but I prefer other Revlon Mascaras over this one.
Benefit | Roller Lash Mascara
I’m not usually a huge fan of non-drugstore mascaras as I don’t usually see them as worth the price but… The Benefit Roller Lash has become a staple. It really lifts, curls and defines my eye lashes. I can’t say enough good things about it! Would I repurchase it? Yes! I actually now have a full size on the go as I got it in the Sephora Favourites Lashstash that I purchased in the fall.
Miscellaneous
Garnier | Whole Blends Colour Care Conditioner
I’m usually a Joico girl when it comes to my shampoo and conditioner, but I thought I’d give the Garnier Whole Blends a try. Though at first I wasn’t fond of the conditioner, I’m now finding that my hair is left very soft after using the shampoo and conditioner regularly. Would I repurchase it? Yes! I actually have already replaced the conditioner. I don’t shampoo my hair every shower so I’ve already replaced the conditioner and still have the original shampoo that I purchased on the go.
CND | Solar Oil
The CND Solar Oil is one of my favourite cuticle oils because it smells so delicious! I just love the sweet almond scent to it. It leaves my cuticles looking great as well which keeps me coming back to it. Would I repurchase it? Yes!
The Repeats
I’m not going to go into detail on these products as I’ve emptied them many times over the course of writing these posts. They are all staples in my routine and yes, I would repurchase them all!
- Spectro Cleanser for Blemish-Prone Skin
- Batiste Dry Shampoo (Original Scent)
- Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water (Waterproof & Regular Formula)
- St. Ive’s Green Tea Scrub
- L’Oreal Pro-Matte Foundation (not pictured)
