Well, that was an unexpected break from blogging… My husband and I have been working on some home renovations and they were a lot more time consuming than I had expected (aren’t they all?). However, I’m back and hopefully will be returning to posting consistently. I was cruising Facebook a week or so ago and saw a new YouTube video by Chelle of Makeup Your Mind and I was super intrigued. I’ve embedded her video at the end of this post and I definitely suggest checking it out! The video was The Limited Edition Makeup Tag which allows creators to give some love to Limited Edition items that we may not talk about regularly due to the ability to get them anymore. I’m all for any opportunity to give some love to my favourite Limited Edition Makeup products so I was all about participating in this tag.
QUESTIONS:
1. What is the LE product you are most happy you got your hands on?
The Kat Von D Metal Matte Palette is hands down one of my favourite palettes in general, limited edition or not. It has a little bit of everything in it – both colourful and neutral so I keep coming back to it for creating different looks.
2. What is your least favorite LE products you picked up, the thing you could have been without?
The KVD Serpentina Palette – I do like it, but it is an awkward colour selection so I don’t end up using it super often. I reeeeally love the shade Scarab so I often pull out the palette specifically for that shade. Overall though, if I would have missed out on this palette I would have been okay with it.
3. What brand do you think does LE best?
It absolutely has to be Kat Von D. Her launches are usually quite but you can tell that she puts a lot of thought into them, right down to the packaging. Though some of her packaging can be awkardly shaped and bulky, her artistry always shine through.
4. And to flip things over, what brand do you think does LE the worst?
This one is hard… I want to say Too Faced because the quality can definitely vary but I honestly don’t have a ton of their limited edition palettes. There’s been a lot of Urban Decay limited edition launches over the past year or so that I’ve been really uninterested in.
5. Name one thing (or more) you wish wasn’t LE.
I’m going to mention it again… The Kat Von D Metal Matte Palette. It’s a great staple palette for creating a variety of looks. The fun colours can be a bit intimidating if you’re not into incorporating that much colour into your make up but they would also be great for adding a pop of colour to the lower lash line!
6. What is the thing that got away, the thing you missed and will forever regret not getting?
The Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Palette… I had this in my cart during the VIB sale the year it came out and it sold out while I was checking out. I was just getting into makeup more seriously around this time so I was less aware of launches and how limited these limited edition products were. However, the Metal Matte Palette and other subsequent colourful palettes that I’ve picked up since then have filled the void.
7. What thing that was LE but was made permanent later on made the most sense vs the least sense to you?
Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in the shade Pearl! I still have it in only the highlight palette where it debuted – the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Glow Palette – but this is such a great highlight for fair skinned people such as myself. They did us all a great service by making this permanent!
I can’t really think of anything that didn’t make sense to make permanent to be honest…
8. What thing that is permanent do you think would have been better off LE?
This is a really tough one… I can’t think of anything in my collection that is permanent and could have easily been limited edition…
9. What is the best collab LE thing release so far according to you?
The Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette (which subsequently became permanent). You can really tell that Jaclyn put her heart and soul into this palette. Each shadow has excellent formulation and the palette is very, very versatile. I’m just going to share a few of my swatches of it again because that’s really all the proof you need.
10. What LE (or collab LE) item would you like to see released?
I’m going to go the geeky route like Chelle did, but rather than the video game route (which I agree would be AMAZING), I’m going to say I’d love to see a brand do something Marvel themed! There are so many bright colours and powerful female characters in the Marvel universe so I think it could be pretty interested to see translated into makeup.
I’m not going to tag anyone in particular but if you do this tag please comment your links below as I’d love to read them!

Robyn
Thanks so much for the links back! I loved reading your answers – we both definitely have a lot of love for KVD products! She just always knocks it out of the park, doesn’t she?
I’d love to see more Marvel themed stuff as well!

Absolutely, Kat Von D definitely always knocks it out of the park! I think what you had said in your video is so true, she takes her time and puts out a couple really good products rather than flooding us with many different LE products each season. I just put on the 10th anniversary palette on my eyes today and I think I’m already in love 😍

The only LE thing I regret not getting my hands on was any of the MAC Rocky Horror collection that came out 3 or 4 years ago. I’m a big fan of the movie and I admit I wanted it all for the packaging. But it sold out so fast.

I’ve heard that about MAC LE launches that they sell out so fast!

Wow the KVD Palettes are so beautiful, I don’t know why she doesn’t have a colourful palette within her permanent collection xx
