Kat Von D’s makeup line recently turned ten years old. In celebration she launched a beautiful limited edition collection because how else would you celebrate such an achievement? While the collection in it’s entirety looked stunning, I only picked up the Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette. She always knocks it out of the park with her eyeshadow palettes and this one with all of it’s rainbowy goodness just had to be mine. After a few weeks of testing I am ready to share my thoughts about this palette with you today. Keep on reading for swatches of this beautiful palette as well as a few makeup looks using it!
As usual even the box that the palette came in was beautiful and very reminiscent of the Kat Von D branding. Gold is a prominent theme throughout the collection and the box captures this quite perfectly.
Can we also take a second to admire how beautiful the palette itself is? It features artwork drawn by Kat Von D herself which really makes this palette feel special. The one thing that I don’t like about this palette, but that is unfortunately not surprising with Kat Von D’s palettes is that the eyeshadow names are on the backside. But that is more of a blogging-related gripe.
What initially drew me to the Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette was the shade selection. I love a good, colourful eyeshadow palette. In a world full of neutral palettes I love me some colour. I love experimenting with different colours and expressing myself through my eyeshadow. It also contains a good mix of matte shades and shimmery shades. While it is a colourful palette, it does also contain some neutrals as well for balance. For me and what I look for in an eyeshadow palette it is really quite balanced.
Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette: The Swatches
Overall, the palette performs quite well. The only shade that has given me any trouble is the purple shade, Catherine. It is really hard to get a purple eyeshadow right though. While it is a beautiful shade, it just ends up a bit more sheer than the others when placed on the eyelid. The mattes are all very consistent and highly blend-able.
If you’re familiar with Kat Von D’s matte eyeshadow formula then there are no surprises here, she really does rock them. The shimmers are quite beautiful to work with as well. I’ve used both my fingers and a brush to apply the shimmery-metallic shades. My favourite shade in the palette by far is Kelly, it is such a beautiful and unique duo-chrome shade with a brown/plum base with a blue shift.

I’ve been all about the warm eyeshadow looks lately (again) so it’s no surprise here that I’m showing two warm eyeshadow looks. I’ll have to make sure I remember to take photos the next time I use the greens and the blues so I can share some makeup looks using those as well.
The bottom line is that I love this eye shadow palette and I am so glad that I decided to purchase it. If you like using colour in your eyeshadow routine then I think you’ll like this palette too!
