Today’s palette spotlight focuses on an oldie but a goodie. Unlike last week’s rainbow palette, today I’ve got a more neutral staple of a palette for you – the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eyeshadow Palette. Filled with neutral mattes this palette is perfect on it’s own or used in addition to a palette that is perhaps lacking some neutral matte shades for transition, adding definition, etc.
I purchased mine before the switch to plastic was made so mine is housed in a classic cardboard palette. Though it gets quite a bit of use I’m surprised to see that the shades look hardly used. However, that being said they are quite pigmented so I don’t need to use much to get the desired look that I want.
The Kat Von D Shade + Light Eyeshadow Palette is broken up into three sections – neutrals, cool tones and warm tones. This is exactly why it is such a staple palette for me. It can pretty much be paired with any other palette. The first section – the neutrals – definitely see the most use. The lighter shades are great for blending out the edges of my eyeshadow if they look too harsh.
Trying to get the light shades to show up for swatching is more of a testament to my paleness than the pigmentation. It’s there, I swear! I love that although these are definitely pigmented mattes they also blend really well.
What is your favourite “staple” eyeshadow palette? let me know in the comments down below! Come back next Tuesday to find out which palette gets put in the spotlight next! It’s so daunting trying to pick one each week – there’s so many great palettes to choose from! My goal for this series is to eventually make my way through all of my palettes. That’s a big task!

Robyn
