Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara

It’s been awhile since I last reviewed a mascara for you guys so I thought I’d share my thoughts on the one I’ve been using a lot lately. Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara claims to be “an ultra-volumizing mascara that delivers instant dimension for epic lashes.” I believe I used Sephora points to pick up this mascara if I remember correctly. I quite enjoy mini mascaras as it is an excellent way to try out new formulas without spending big bucks.

The wand for the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara is a large fibre wand that holds quite a big of product. I usually gently wipe it as I remove it from the tube to wipe off some of the excess product. It is otherwise quite easy to use. I enjoy large hourglass shaped wands like this one. They are a bit challenging on the bottom lashes due to the size but it’s nothing a little patience and caution can’t fix.

My lashes are a little sparse at the moment due to the inevitable spring shed but the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara definitely does add length and a curl to my lashes. This is the type of formula that I prefer on my lashes.

I’ve been using the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara for about a month or two now and I haven’t had any issues with clumping or smudging. However, I don’t really ever have issues with smudging, I don’t rub my eyes much and they don’t water that much.

Overall, while I do enjoy the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara, the price tag ($33 CAD) is a huge turn-off for me. In a world full of great drugstore options that are very much comparable, I just can’t justify paying a high price on such a short-term use product. I would say that L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise is quite similar (seen in most of these makeup looks).
