For the first time ever I don’t feel like a month just flew by. I actually felt like May took a reasonable amount of time. The kitchen reno mayhem at the beginning of the month feels like it was already so long ago. May was a fantastic month… we finished painting the kitchen (flooring still to be put down), we had a lovely Cinqo de Mayo party with our friends, the beautiful warm weather arrived and I went on many hikes with my husband. It’s amazing what the warm weather and nature will do to the soul. Being outside hiking and seeing the beautiful scenery is so inspiring and really makes me appreciate living in North Western Ontario. All of these beautiful sights are right here ready to be taken in. No long commutes required! But I digress.. let’s chat about my favourites from the month of May because that is why we are all here! My April Favourites are a little bit later than usual this time around but I have a few products that I can’t get enough of. As usual, I also have a few interesting miscellaneous favourites as well! Is anyone else feeling completely reinvigorated by the sunshine and spring beauty out there? After what always feels like a winter that is way too long the sunshine is making me feel so inspired. I have so many colourful makeup looks on my mind that I want to start working on. Continue reading
Woah, where did March go? Is it just me or did March seem like a very busy and fast month? But, that’s okay! This just brings up closer to summer! We don’t really get a real spring in Thunder Bay so I’m mentally just skipping past that and am dreaming of a warm July by the lake. I have quite a few makeup favourites to share with you this month so let’s jump into it!
Colourpop x Kathleen Lights | Dream St Eyeshadow Palette
I purchased this palette in February and it has remained on top of my vanity pretty much since that point. I’ve been able to create so many different eye shadow looks with it, it definitely became an every day staple. I wrote a review on the Colourpop x Kathleen Lights Dream St Palette in the earlier part of March! Continue reading
It’s once again time for my monthly favourites and I actually have a lot of miscellaneous favourites for you today along with my usual makeup and skincare favourites! February is the month of love so let’s see what I was loving this month!
Laura Mercier | Foundation Primer – Radiance
I am not usually one for any sort of primer that has the word “radiant” in it. Generally, these make my already shiny/oily skin look even more like an oil-slick. However, I have been finding lately that the cold winter we have been experiencing in Thunder Bay is making my skin look dry and lifeless. I still have to use a mattifying foundation and powder but I have been finding that adding this primer underneath (instead of a matte one) has been adding a little extra oomph to my skin. I don’t think I’d use it all year round but I could see this becoming a staple for the winter months. Continue reading
January was a pretty great month. I started off the month (and the year) in Paris, France with my husband so the rest of this year is going to have a hard time stacking up to January. I started getting into experimenting with makeup a bit more again, trying out a few different looks which I’ve posted here. It’s going to be a great year, I can just feel it! But, on that note, let’s take a look at which products were getting the most love in January!
Zoeva | Cocoa Blend
I picked up this palette from Sephora in Paris since I haven’t really seen it in Canada but I’ve seen it all over YouTube over the past few years. It is definitely more of a neutral palette, but what drew my eye to it was the purple shade, Delicate Acidity. I posted a look using the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette last week mixing it’s warm and cool tones. I’ve been using it a lot this month and have been really enjoying it. I’ll be sure to dedicate a post to it and swatch it soon! Continue reading
I always find end of year favourites to be such a challenge. With so many products to choose from it’s hard to come up with a concise list that doesn’t miss anything. In keeping with how I did my best of 2016 post, I’m going to stick to what I considered to be game changers. These are products that I tried for the first time this year and loved enough to consider them “game changing”. Continue reading
November… where did it go? I blogged my way right through it and here we are already nearly a week into December. With some upcoming travel on the horizon, I have to say, I’m pretty excited that time has been moving fast. So what was I loving in the month of November? It ended up being another minimal month as I was sick a lot of the month and wearing makeup when you’re constantly blowing your nose is kind of counter-productive. Alas, I did end up discovering a few products that became instant-favourites!
Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer, Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Powder & Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Spiced Plum
Too Faced | Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Skin Perfecting Primer
I purchased the Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Skin Perfecting Primer during the Sephora VIB Rouge Sale on a whim and boy am I glad I did! It smells delightful and does an excellent job at keeping my skin matte throughout the day. Though the weather has been cold and dry, my skin gets shiny throughout the day all year round. This has instantly become a staple in my makeup routine and was recently featured in my Oily Skin Essentials post. Continue reading
With October quickly coming to a close I’m excited to share with you a few items that I could not put down this past month. As always, these posts are typically a little more makeup-heavy as that is usually what excites me most in this vast world of beauty. Of course some of these are tried and true favourites, and may even be repeats, but lets dive into what I enjoyed using the most this month.
Too Faced | Flushed Blush in How Deep is Your Love?
This is definitely nothing new but I have been wearing Too Faced’s How Deep is Your Love? a lot lately. It just gives me the perfect cheek colour and compliments my skin tone quite well. I don’t see it listed anymore on the Sephora website so I really hope it isn’t discontinued! I do see it on the Too Faced website though. Continue reading
Hi guys! The air has DEFINITELY gotten a lot cooler around here lately with temperatures even dipping into the negatives overnight. Before the fall season leaves us for the dreaded winter, I thought I’d share five random fall favourites of mine (in no particular order). These are five things that without a doubt remind me of fall.
Kat Von D | Monarch Palette
I so badly wish this wasn’t discontinued, and although I do rock it all year round, my classic go-to look using it ALWAYS reminds me of fall. Even if I wear it in any other season (which I do) it reminds me of fall. I’ll have to recreate it now that I have a better camera and lighting set up! I really do wear warm shades all year round but they always remind me of the crisp fall leaves. Some other GREAT alternatives that are currently available include the Morphe 35O Palette and the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette which are both fantastic choices if you like to rock warm eyeshadow, like myself! Continue reading
Hi guys! I didn’t post my favourites for August (to be honest it was a bit difficult given my VERY minimalist summer) so I thought it would be more valuable to add them in with September so here we are! Now that the weather has been cooling down, and I’m not spending my weekends out at the lake, makeup has become more of a part of my routine again. Which, to be honest, I did miss it! So, let’s take a peak at what I’ve been loving lately!
Makeup Revolution | The Matte Blush in Beloved
Makeup Revolution’s the Matte Blush in the shade Beloved has been my constant go-to every day blush for the past 2.5 months. Basically, ever since I hauled in from Ulta in July it has rocked my world. It’s a very light coral nude shade and just something about it gives my face a beautiful flushed glow. I can’t get enough of it. Continue reading
