In one of my recent Sephora orders I picked up a deluxe sized sample of the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in the shade Starwoman. This is a formula I’ve been wanting to try for a long time so I was excited to see it in the Rewards Bazaar. I’ve worn it a couple of times now so I’m ready to give you my thoughts on the formula, as well as show you the photos I took throughout the day of how it wore. Continue reading →
When Bite Beauty announced their Astrology line of Amuse Bouche Lipsticks I couldn’t wait to see what they would have when my sign came along. Given that I’m a November baby I knew this would be a loooong wait. But alas, Bite Beauty Scorpio came to be and I was so relieved that it was a colour I would actually wear! It’s a beautiful spicy red which is just so fitting for the Scorpio sign. I purchased this during the Sephora VIB Rouge sale weekend. Continue reading →
The days are getting shorter and the air is getting crisper which means fall (though not officially here) is well underway. Though I don’t really believe in saving makeup for particular seasons I do find my patterns shift as the seasons progress. Mainly I find myself going from my minimal summer routine to one that is more involved and often either warm toned or vampy. I’m excited for this shift as I find fall really represents my favourite time of the year makeup and fashion wise so I thought I’d share with you five lipsticks that I think I’ll have in heavy rotation this fall!

Last year I posted about my Top 5 Holiday Lipsticks so I thought this year I would continue that and add a few more festive lipsticks to the list. These are three lipsticks that I think are perfect for the holiday season and you can bet I will be wearing them a lot over the next month.
Aren’t they beautiful?! Swatches to follow at the end of this post!
Hail Cosmetics | Eternal Matte Lipstick in Wined
Starting off my list is Hail Cosmetics Wined which is in their Eternal Matte Lipstick formula. It isn’t your traditional holiday season red but I think that’s why I love it so much. It is more of a merlot red and pairs well with any holiday inspired look. Not to mention, Hail Cosmetics is hand-crafted right here in Thunder Bay! The formula is great, it reminds me a lot of the NARS Audacious Lipsticks, except for these are cruelty-free, so if that is something you look for, then be sure check out this line of lipsticks! Blue lipstick – I have to admit it is something I never thought I would wear in a million years. The thought just seemed so foreign to me. I’m no stranger to purple lipstick but blue just seemed so “out there” so I never really gave much thought to it. However every time I saw a photo online of someone else wearing it I started to become more and more intrigued. I don’t recall how it came up but my bestie and I ended up chatting about this and decided we needed to have a “blue lipstick night”. The plan was simple, wear a blue lipstick and go downtown.
As the night grew closer I acquired my weapon of choice – NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in the shade Jet Set. I was a bit nervous about the idea of wearing blue lipstick out as I haven’t really ever seen anyone else wearing it when I’ve gone out in the past. But, we were in this together! Continue reading →
Vampy lipsticks are such a staple in my makeup collection. While I definitely wear them all year round, I am definitely more drawn to them during the colder months of the year. Today I thought I would share with you three of my current favourite vampy lipsticks in my collection. These are all liquid lipsticks as I find that type of formula generally packs more of a pigmented punch and are far easier to apply. Those are two factors I find very important in a dark lipstick.
Anastasia Beverly Hills | Liquid Lipstick in Heathers
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in the shade Heathers was one of the first vampy lipsticks that I added to my collection. It definitely adds a lot of drama to any makeup look I’ve worn it with. I really enjoy the formula of this one, I have previously reviewed the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick so you can find out more about it if you’re curious! It’s a beautiful brown/oxblood shade. Continue reading →
Hi guys! While I normally love rocking a bold, bright lip, lately I’ve found myself drawn to neutrals so I thought I’d take a peak through my collection and share with you the five that I have been wearing the most. To be honest, they are probably all similar in shade, but, that’s okay! I love them all for different reasons.
Urban Decay | Revolution Lipstick in Fiend
To start off this top 5 neutral lipsticks post, I want to talk about my beloved and now discontinued Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Fiend. This was the second Urban Decay lipstick I ever purchased when my world opened up to high end makeup and it holds a close place in my heart. This is definitely one of my default shades when I just want something simple but pretty. It’s a lovely muted rose shade. Continue reading →
Hi guys! I don’t really follow rules when it comes to makeup so I wear most lip colours all year round. However, I do tend to reach for certain colours depending on the season. So when the weather warms up, I find myself automatically reaching for bright lip colours. So, I thought it would be fun to share with you my favourite five lip colours for the summer!
L to R: NARS Audacious Lipstick in Juliette, Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Bang, NARS Audacious Lipstick in Angela, Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Tulip & Colourpop Lippie Stix in Scandy
NARS | Audacious Lipstick in Juliette
A beautiful light pinky coral lipstick that from the moment I laid eyes on it screamed “summer staple”. For a moment I worried it would be too orange for my fair skin, but I like the way it looks on me. It’s not too bold so it could be worn with an everyday look. Also, the NARS Audacious formula is by far one of my favourite lipstick formulas.
Urban Decay | Revolution Lipstick in Bang
This lipstick recently came into my life and was another that I was unsure how I would feel about. I got it on sale though when the Revolution Lipsticks were discontinued so I didn’t have much to lose. This lipstick is amazing. It’s a beautiful bold bright orange red. This shade is still available in the Vice Lipsticks range in the cream formula. Continue reading →
Hi guys! It’s time for another Love for Lipstick post and this one finishes off my last haul! My next Love for Lipstick post will be a beauty from the drugstore, so keep an eye out for that, but today we are going to talk about the lovely Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks!
Application with the doe-foot applicator and the slightly moussey formula is easy! Some liquid lipsticks go from zero to all over the place but not this one! With this one I am always able to get a precise application.
1. Freshly applied at 8 am 2. After eating lunch (soup) at 12:30 pm 3. Last check-in at 5 pm
The wear-time is also pretty great as well! It wore a little bit in the centre from eating/drinking throughout the day but with this shade it didn’t look obvious at all. Upon a normal glance you would never notice in person. It doesn’t feel drying throughout the day and almost keeps a very very slight tackiness to it for the first bit half of the day. It also doesn’t transfer at all. Continue reading →
Hi guys! I’m back with another post in my Love for Lipstick Series! In my last haul I talked about the two shades from the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche line that I had picked up. I hadn’t tried this line and it’s fairly new so I had to pick up two because they both looked so pretty!
So let’s start off by talking about the application. These lipsticks feel very creamy and almost a bit thick to apply but don’t feel heavy once on. They are richly pigmented and only require one strategic swipe to get beautiful lips. They set down to a demi-matte/satin finish. So, it lasts all-day (but does fade as you go) and also feels super comfortable. This hydrating formula was made with nutrients, vitamins and omega-oils to help quench your lips and keep them looking healthy.
