After an evening of cruising YouTube, a video by fellow Canadian Beauty Blogger and superb YouTuber, Chelle of Makeup Your Mind caught my eye. These days a unique video topic on YouTube is pretty far and few between but somehow she always manages to keep it fresh! The video that caught my eye this time was her 5 Neglected Palettes I’m Using This Autumn video. If you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend it. It really got me thinking about my neglected eyeshadow palettes and which ones I am going to make an effort of using more this fall.
It had been awhile since I saw an eye shadow palette and it really made me feel something. A palette that I was so excited for that I practically counted down the days until it’s release. That was until the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette was finally revealed. This palette just spoke to me. The shade selection felt unique and the purple and pink tones that rule the palette are so very me. Though this palette isn’t quite new anymore, since I didn’t blog much this summer I am finally getting around to sharing my thoughts on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette now. I mostly talk about palettes here on the blog since I am a self-proclaimed “palette junkie” but I do own an almost complete Z-Palette full of single shadows. I thought it would be fun to go through them today and share with you what is in my custom palette. I enjoyed this because it reminded me that I have some great single shadows that I need to dig out more, and also reminded me that I need to pick up more Makeup Geek single shadows because they are aaaamazing, particularly their foiled formula. Once I complete this palette I’m going to look into getting another empty palette so if you have any suggestions for magnetic palettes let me know in the comments!
Limited edition… those two words that are meant to feel like you have to have something because someday it won’t be as easy to get your hands on. I have to admit, I’ve been hit by the urge to buy something because of those words. Particularly if it was something I was already interested in, the limited-edition-ness would simply seal the deal. This is because I have been burnt by missing out on a limited edition product that I really wanted because I waited too long. I try not to post about limited edition items when they are no longer available because I prefer that if something sparks interest with a reader, that they would be able to go out and purchase it. However, limited edition items need love too so today’s post is all about four limited edition palettes that I still love and use quite frequently. That’s the thing about limited edition items… sometimes they end up forgotten, no matter how much you felt like you needed to have it.
Anastasia Beverly Hills | Self Made Palette
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette was the first ABH eyeshadow palette that I ever purchased and it really sparked my love for their eyeshadow. For that reason and just how great this palette is, it has a very special place in my heart. I pull this palette out quite often because it has a great variety. My favourite combination is Sherbert in the crease with Hot & Cold all over the lid and Hot Chocolate in the outer-v and under my eye. However, the shade Isla is also gorgeous and fun to use! December was a busy month, I had meant to post more holiday inspired makeup looks but only managed to get one up. However, I’ve been wanting to do a silvery/purple makeup look with the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in the shade Glamrock that I picked up in December. So, since I had a birthday party to go to I decided to create the look that I didn’t get a chance to do for the holiday season. I had also meant to post something using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette so this worked out perfectly!
I think one of the best parts about the VIB Rouge Sale in the fall is that it is always right around my birthday. Between the desire to treat myself and a few generous gift cards (thank you to my family!), I usually end up with a pretty decent haul. The last of my packages arrived yesterday so I’m ready to share the damage with you!
Eye Shadow Palettes
Violet Voss | Ride or Die Eyeshadow Palette
I had only intended to get one palette during this sale, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Eyeshadow Palette, however, another gift card rolled in around the same time I got the “back in stock” email so it seemed like fate. I’m so glad that Sephora is carrying Violet Voss now. I bought their collaboration palette with Laura Lee last year and really loved it. It was a bit pricy but the 20% off made it worthwhile and they really do make great eye shadows. Continue reading
The annual fall Sephora VIB Rouge Sale is almost upon us and though I’m planning on going light this year, I thought I’d gather up a few items I have my eye on. I likely won’t buy all of these but I always like to have a game plan ready before a big sale! I find it helps keep impulse buys to a minimum. My list is a combination of fun things I’ve had my eye on and practical items that I just don’t want to pay full price for. So, let’s dive into my list, shall we?
Sephora VIB Rouge Sale Wish List
Anastasia Beverly Hills | Prism Eyeshadow Palette
After the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette being kind of a flop (note: I did keep it, I do actually use it, but I don’t love it as much as their previous palettes), I was a bit skeptical on the Prism Eyeshadow Palette. However, so far, it looks promising so I will probably pick it up, given the eyeshadow palette addiction that I have.
Bite Beauty | Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Black Truffle
I’ve had my eye on Black Truffle for quite some time. It is just the kind of vampy shade that I love wearing at this time of the year. I quite enjoy the Amuse Bouche formula, it isn’t my favourite, but it’s quite nice to wear. Continue reading
Hi guys! We aren’t quite at the end of the month yet, but I’m ready to share what I’ve hauled over the course of the month with you. It was supposed to be a small haul this month, however great deals and discounts seemed to change that quickly. So, let’s check out what caught my eye and came home with my this month!
I ordered both of these items separately but it made sense to group them together in one photo. The first item I purchased this month was the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow in the shade Ash Brown. I had got a sample of this last month and loved how it matched my darker hair better than the Taupe shade that I used to use. Later on in the month when the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Palette was part of the Sephora Wow Deals, I just could not pass it up. I wanted it when it first came out and ended up passing on it, but at 50% off I couldn’t say no. I’m excited to play with mixing different lipstick shades! Continue reading
Hi guys! Since purchasing the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette I honestly haven’t used it very much. To be fair, I’ve been wearing very, very little makeup over the past month. Anyways, after spending a LOT of time browsing Instagram, I left inspired and ready to create a fall makeup look with this palette. Going in, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to accomplish, but the end results is a makeup look with a strong focus on the colour green and a little grunge. Perfect for the fall!
Hi guys! Today I thought I would post the makeup look I’m wearing today as it was the first time I tried the brand new and highly controversial Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette. For those of you who may not know, there appears to be some manufacturing errors with this palette and some people have received duds. I believe most of the issues have to do with fallout and some shades hitting pan after a few uses. I just used mine for the first time this morning so it’s hard to say if I got a good one or not. So far the quality seems very similar to the Modern Renaissance Palette so I have not experienced any issues with the few shades I did use so far.
