With each season the needs of our skin can change depending on the weather. Though I have oily skin all year round, I do find that my face needs a bit more hydration during the winter months. I generally have to find a balance as despite having a few dry patches my skin still looks like an oily mess at the end of the day. Since I do always use mattifying makeup products to combat the excessive oil, I find this allows me to add some moisturizing products to my routine for the winter.

I do still continue to use the Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer for Oily/Combination Skin, but at least a few times a week I use the Garnier Moisture Bomb Antioxidant Moisturizer* (pictured above in the pump-style bottle). If I use it too often I do end up reeeeeeally oily, but I find it helps keep the dry patches away. I tend to use it on days where I’m chilling at home and not really wearing any makeup. I always find end of year favourites to be such a challenge. With so many products to choose from it’s hard to come up with a concise list that doesn’t miss anything. In keeping with how I did my best of 2016 post, I’m going to stick to what I considered to be game changers. These are products that I tried for the first time this year and loved enough to consider them “game changing”. Continue reading
It is no secret that I love liquid lipsticks so when I saw that Bite Beauty came out with their own version, I was definitely intrigued. I did see several reviews of the product so coming into this, I knew it wasn’t the matte liquid lipstick that I am used to. Instead, the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks are more similar to the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. Essentially, a cream lipstick in liquid form. I chose the shade Purée which is a beautiful burnt orange shade.
To start off, the square packaging is quite attractive. It is not only flat-lay friendly (#bloggerproblems) it really stands out from your standard tube. I also quite enjoy the long and tapered doe-foot applicator, it was really quite easy to get an even and precise distribution of the product. Continue reading
Last year I posted about my Top 5 Holiday Lipsticks so I thought this year I would continue that and add a few more festive lipsticks to the list. These are three lipsticks that I think are perfect for the holiday season and you can bet I will be wearing them a lot over the next month.
Aren’t they beautiful?! Swatches to follow at the end of this post!
Hail Cosmetics | Eternal Matte Lipstick in Wined
Starting off my list is Hail Cosmetics Wined which is in their Eternal Matte Lipstick formula. It isn’t your traditional holiday season red but I think that’s why I love it so much. It is more of a merlot red and pairs well with any holiday inspired look. Not to mention, Hail Cosmetics is hand-crafted right here in Thunder Bay! The formula is great, it reminds me a lot of the NARS Audacious Lipsticks, except for these are cruelty-free, so if that is something you look for, then be sure check out this line of lipsticks! November… where did it go? I blogged my way right through it and here we are already nearly a week into December. With some upcoming travel on the horizon, I have to say, I’m pretty excited that time has been moving fast. So what was I loving in the month of November? It ended up being another minimal month as I was sick a lot of the month and wearing makeup when you’re constantly blowing your nose is kind of counter-productive. Alas, I did end up discovering a few products that became instant-favourites!
Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer, Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Powder & Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Spiced Plum
Too Faced | Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Skin Perfecting Primer
I purchased the Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Skin Perfecting Primer during the Sephora VIB Rouge Sale on a whim and boy am I glad I did! It smells delightful and does an excellent job at keeping my skin matte throughout the day. Though the weather has been cold and dry, my skin gets shiny throughout the day all year round. This has instantly become a staple in my makeup routine and was recently featured in my Oily Skin Essentials post. Continue reading
Holiday exclusives… I can’t help but get caught up in them. They are always so sparkly and festive, as well as limited. When I saw the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Spiced Plum I was instantly drawn to it. It is a beautiful metallic berry shade which looked like it would be stunning on the lips. It is part of the Sephora Holiday Kiss Collection which is a series of limited-edition lipsticks exclusive to Sephora.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Spiced Plum
Right down to the packaging the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Spiced Plum is straight up adorable. The details on the box and tube make it extra special. Continue reading
Hi guys! I’m back with another post in my Love for Lipstick Series! In my last haul I talked about the two shades from the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche line that I had picked up. I hadn’t tried this line and it’s fairly new so I had to pick up two because they both looked so pretty!
So let’s start off by talking about the application. These lipsticks feel very creamy and almost a bit thick to apply but don’t feel heavy once on. They are richly pigmented and only require one strategic swipe to get beautiful lips. They set down to a demi-matte/satin finish. So, it lasts all-day (but does fade as you go) and also feels super comfortable. This hydrating formula was made with nutrients, vitamins and omega-oils to help quench your lips and keep them looking healthy.
Hi guys the Canadian Beauty Blogger’s theme for the month of April is Matte Must-Haves and given that I looove mattes I thought I would share a few of my matte favourites! One of the reasons I love mattes is because they are so versatile. I mainly wear mattes on my lips, but given that I have oily skin, I also tend to keep my face matte as well! I always, always have a matte eyeshadow in my crease, but I also enjoy an all-matte all eye look from time-to-time. There is just something so crisp about it!
Before I say everything I want to say in my intro… let’s dive into my picks!
Bite Beauty | Matte Crème Lip Crayon
I have many, many matte lipsticks but I think this is one of my favourite formulas. It feels creamy yet dries down matte and lasts all day. You can see my full review of this product here! I only have one so far but I know I need many, many more! Continue reading
Hi guys! Where did March go? I feel like I just posted my February Favourites and it’s already time to post my favourites for March! I’m really enjoying the video format for these favourite posts now that I am becoming more comfortable with filming. I hope you’re enjoying this format as well!
Hi guys! As you may already know, I started up my new Love for Lipstick Series. In case you missed it, you can find the my “round one” haul here! So today I wanted to do a comparison post and take a look at two of the matte lip pencils that I hauled. The NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and the Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon. I thought this was a good place to start as they are both high end matte lip pencils. So for this post you’re going to go on a journey with me through two normal work days and we will see how each product held up! Neither product was touched up at all throughout the day.
