It’s safe to say that this has been the spring and summer of Makeup Revolution for me. I’ve become hooked on their inexpensive, yet quality eye shadow palettes. Their thing is definitely duping other high end palettes but they do such a great job that I ain’t mad about it. I believe the Makeup Revolution Constellation Palette, which I’ll be reviewing for you today, is supposed to be a dupe of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette. However, I do not own that palette so I can’t really speak to their comparability at this time. Continue reading

Makeup Revolution Constellation Palette | Purple Monochromatic Look
During the summer months I struggle to find the will to wear a lot of makeup because it’s usually super hot out. However, it was a bit cooler on Monday so I thought I’d finally play with the Makeup Revolution Forever Flawless Constellation Palette that I picked up last month at Ulta! In typical me fashion I was drawn to the purple shades. I did want to do something a bit brighter but I thought cool tones would suit my outfit better. Continue reading
April & May Favourites: Beauty, Skincare & More!
I feel like it has been awhile since I last did a favourites post as I didn’t do one for April! However, my habits have been pretty consistent across the past two months so let’s chat about both. The theme of the past two months for me has been simplicity. I haven’t been wearing much makeup, but when I have been I have been heavily using the products mentioned below! Continue reading
Makeup Revolution Reloaded Neutrals 2 Palette
I have a soft spot for warm eyeshadow palettes. I have a bunch of them and every time I see a new one, I feel an urge to add it to my collection. When I was placing an order with Orabel Beauty last month I knew that the Makeup Revolutions Reloaded Neutrals 2 Palette had to be mine because of this. I do not regret this purchase one bit because it is an absolutely fantastic warm eye shadow palette. Keep reading for my full review, swatches and a few makeup looks featuring this lovely palette! Easter Makeup Look with Colourpop Pressed Eyeshadows
It feels like it has taken a looong time to get here but Easter is finally right around the corner. In the spirit of Easter, and spring, I thought it would be fun to create a makeup look inspired by this colourful time of the year. I’ve been itching to use some of the blue/teal Colourpop pressed eyeshadows that I hauled a little while ago so I knew I had to incorporate those. I don’t wear blues/teals very often so I added in some pink to balance it out a bit. Let’s take a closer look at the Easter Makeup Look that I created! Continue reading
Orabel Haul: Makeup Revolution & Morphe
I love a good mail day. Yesterday my Orabel order arrived which made it a great mail day. I’ve followed Orabel for quite awhile on Instagram but this was actually my first time ordering from them. Orabel is a Canadian online store that brings brands typically found on American and European websites to Canadians. My focus for this order was Makeup Revolution products but I also threw in a Morphe product to get myself over the free shipping threshold. Continue reading
Essence Do You Speak Love?
When I want a quick manicure that will survive about a week with minimal chipping, Essence’s gel polishes are one of my go-to’s. They are inexpensive and they really do last on the nails. Today I’ve got Essence Do You Speak Love? on my nails, which to be honest, I don’t remember purchasing. I had to double check to make sure I hadn’t previously featured it on the blog. I sometimes pick them up when I’m grocery shopping so that would explain why I don’t remember purchasing it. I’m sure I’ve worn it at least once before though. It’s a beautiful deep red shade which is the type of red I’m more drawn to wearing versus the classic brighter reds. Continue reading
Colourpop Lux Lipstick
Colourpop recently launched a full lineup of Lux Lipsticks which are in a creamy matte finish. They are said to not bleed or feather, as well as be long-wearing. They look more like a traditional lipstick instead of the longer, skinny format that they used for their Lippie Stix. Needless to say, I was pretty excited to start trying them out and am ready to share my thoughts on them! I picked out two shades – Pinkies up and Humble Pie. This review will feature the shade Pinkies Up which is a dusty mid-tone mauve.
The packaging is a sleek rose gold coloured tube with little stars added for decoration. I think these tubes are really cute and definitely look more “lux” than their previous launches. The stars embellished on the actual lipstick inside the tube are a really cute touch as well. They do however attract finger prints like crazy. Continue reading
Budget Beauty: Colourpop & Essence
The Canadian Beauty Bloggers theme of the month is Budget Beauty so I thought this would be a fitting time to give two of my favourite “budget beauty” brands some love. When I think about inexpensive, yet quality beauty products two brands always come to mind: Colourpop and Essence. Both brands are perfect for experimenting with makeup without having to splurge. Not sure if you can pull off purple lipstick? Why not try it out without the high end price tag? Don’t like spending lots on mascara? Me either, but Essence has a growing line of fantastic mascaras for around $5! So, let’s take a look at who these brands are and what some of my favourite products from them are!
Colourpop
Colourpop was founded in LA in 2014 so it is a fairly new company. Their company has an emphasis on keeping prices down, as well as being, as they call it, “bunny approved”. Though they started out with their own store online, they are now also available at Sephora which is amazing! But, with their low prices, I am okay with shopping their full collection on their website because even with exchange and shipping, you still end up getting a pretty good deal!
I haven’t met a Colourpop product that I didn’t like, but if I had to choose a favourite, I’m very, very fond of their Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks. I have quite a few of them and just can’t get enough of them. If you prefer more of a “standard” lipstick, their Lippie Stix are great too and come in a variety of finishes! Continue reading
