Hi guys! This post is a bit different than my usual beauty-centred posts as I do want to include the odd lifestyle post from time to time. As we get older there are more and more things in our lives that contribute to stress. Whether it be work, finances, negative people in your life, the stress can come from a variety of places. I know I experience stress frequently from different sources and I think part of that can be chalked up to the fact that I am a chronic worrier. It’s been proven time and time again that stress is not good for your body and mind. I’m always looking for ways to distract myself and reduce stress so I thought I would share a few things that help me keeping in mind that everyone is different so they may not work for everyone.
- Snuggle a pet (or someone else’s pet): After a long, stressful day there is nothing better than coming home to my dogs. I swear they just know when I need the extra snuggles and will curl up either on top of me or beside me. Animals can be so therapeutic if you enjoy their company.
- Read a book: I love reading as it feels like an escape from reality. A good book should be able to teleport you to another time and place. It takes my mind off of whatever is causing me stress and gives me a chance to re-group.
- Exercise: When you exercise your body releases endorphins which is a neurotransmitter that makes your body feel good. They help you sleep better which also helps reduce your overall stress. It doesn’t have to be too strenuous, anything that will get the blood pumping will help!
- Talk to a loved one: Talking about what is causing you stress is great for two reasons. The first being that you’re not bottling it up inside which isn’t good for you. The second is you may gain someone else’s perspective and they may offer advice. I find talking about what is stressing me out makes a world of difference.
- Do something that makes you happy: Doing things that make me happy like working on this blog, playing with makeup, watching a show I like and so on, helps so much. It distracts me and also lifts my spirits. I temporarily forget about what was causing me stress and I end up feeling so much better because I’m not dwelling on it.
I hope this post was useful in some shape or form. As I said before, this is just what works for me. I am not a psychologist by any means (although fun fact, I studied psychology in university and I wanted to go down a similar path but, life took me elsewhere). I would love to hear your tips for reducing stress so please feel free to leave them in the comments down below!

Hi guys! I can’t believe it is Sunday again. Sunday has become even more of a bittersweet day for me. It already was because it is both a day off but also signals the end of the weekend. However, now it also means Game of Thrones and when that’s over, it’s almost time to go to bed and again, the weekend is over.
1. Enjoying the beautiful weather on the deck 2. Dex (and Max, not pictured) meets Yuki!
This past week breezed right by though. Before I knew it, it was Friday and it was the weekend again. I went to see Captain America: Civil War on Friday with my husband. I enjoyed it, however I don’t think it is my favourite in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It really got me thinking that they really need to make a movie centred around Black Widow. She only ever has a guest role in the other Avengers’ movies but she really does have an interesting enough of a back-story to hold her own… Maybe someday! If you typically enjoy the Marvel Cinematic Universe then I think you will like Civil War. However, I would love for all the superhero vs. superhero themes to take a break for awhile. Hi guys! I thought it would be fun to break out my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette and do a look slightly different than I normally would do with it (usually I just want to slap Bootycall all over my lid… perfection!). I also thought it would be fun to finally try out some samples I got in recent Ipsy bags that I haven’t got the chance to use yet.
So let’s just get into it!
Hi guys! Book Club this month is a bit sparse, I only managed to read one book. My goal is to read two every month but I ended up unusually busy during the month of April. I did get a chance to read more towards the end of the month so, I did manage to read at least one. I didn’t think I was going to finish any at the rate I was going! But, I can always do better in the month of May! It’s finally warming up outside so I’m looking forward to reading on the deck.
Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns by Lauren Weisberger
This is the sequel to Lauren Weisberger’s The Devil Wears Prada, so if you enjoyed that book then I think you will enjoy this one as well. Once again we follow Andrea Sachs as she navigates through her personal and professional life. This novel takes place ten years after the original and much has changed in Andrea’s life. She has met a new man, and has started up a successful bridal magazine. However, this new path she is on leads her right back to the devil herself, Miranda Priestly. I enjoyed reading it, and as I said, if you enjoyed the original, chances are you will enjoy this one too!
So, that is what I have read this month! I would love to know if you have read anything lately so please feel free to leave a comment down below! If you would like to participate in May’s Book Club let me know and we can link each other. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.

Hi guys! I don’t really have much to say for Snapshot Sunday this week. It was a busy week as I was out of town attending to family matters so my posts on the blog were more sporadic than usual and I missed one all together. This week I am back through so regularly scheduled programming should resume! Tomorrow will likely not be a Mani Monday though as I haven’t had a chance to paint my nails, but who knows, maybe I’ll find time later.
Enjoy this picture of my sister’s bunny, Yuki, in place of any pictures from the week! 🙂
Anyways, I thought I would at least round up my posts from the past week so in case you missed any!
Liquid Lipstick Round-Up
Ipsy Glam Bag: April
I hope you all have a lovely week!

Hi guys! This past week hasn’t really been anything out of the ordinary. Just the usual work, come home, exercise, go to bed, repeat.
One of the highlights was that the Sephora VIB sale is currently underway so I placed an order on Thursday… Can’t wait for it to arrive! I will of course, share my haul on the blog when it gets here! Continue reading
Hi guys! As you may already know, I started up my new Love for Lipstick Series. In case you missed it, you can find the my “round one” haul here! So today I wanted to do a comparison post and take a look at two of the matte lip pencils that I hauled. The NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and the Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon. I thought this was a good place to start as they are both high end matte lip pencils. So for this post you’re going to go on a journey with me through two normal work days and we will see how each product held up! Neither product was touched up at all throughout the day. Hi guys! Today I’ve got a skincare review for you. I recently purchased the St. Ive’s Green Tea Scrub in my last Drugstore Haul so after using it for a few weeks I am ready to tell you what I think of it.
This scrub has a very interesting texture. It is as if a clay mask and an exfoliating scrub combined into one. I find it is very gentle to use and does a great job at keeping my pores clean. As well, it helps buff off any dry patches that this lovely winter may have caused. The exfoliation factor chart on the back labels it as moderate (on a scale of gentle, moderate and deep). I still find it quite gentle though but I do not have sensitive skin.
Hi guys! It’s time for another Book Club Post! If you missed the first one, basically what I am trying to do is read a minimum of two books a month. I used to be an avid reader but at some point became too busy for one of my favourite hobbies so this is me trying to get back into it. At the end of each month I’ll give you a bit of information about what I have read this month. If you want to join in you can do so by either posting in the comments or you can post on your own blog. I’m definitely open to having this become a collaboration if you want to join in! If anyone wants to participate next month let me know and we can link to each other!
With that said, this is what I have read this month! Continue reading
Hi guys! I’m sick again so I haven’t had the energy to paint my nails so instead I’m going to share some of my manicure tips with you! These are tips that I’ve picked up and learned over the past few years that have completely changed my manicure game. I hope you find this useful!
