It had been awhile since I saw an eye shadow palette and it really made me feel something. A palette that I was so excited for that I practically counted down the days until it’s release. That was until the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette was finally revealed. This palette just spoke to me. The shade selection felt unique and the purple and pink tones that rule the palette are so very me. Though this palette isn’t quite new anymore, since I didn’t blog much this summer I am finally getting around to sharing my thoughts on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette now. Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette
Kat Von D’s makeup line recently turned ten years old. In celebration she launched a beautiful limited edition collection because how else would you celebrate such an achievement? While the collection in it’s entirety looked stunning, I only picked up the Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette. She always knocks it out of the park with her eyeshadow palettes and this one with all of it’s rainbowy goodness just had to be mine. After a few weeks of testing I am ready to share my thoughts about this palette with you today. Keep on reading for swatches of this beautiful palette as well as a few makeup looks using it! Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 Review
I purchased the Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 at the beginning of March and I’ve been using it pretty consistently ever since. In fact, I’ve been using it almost DAILY. So, I can safely say I am ready to share my thoughts on this palette with you today. The Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 is a combination of matte and shimmer shades. It claims to be both versatile and pigment-rich. The Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 is a pink-centric palette that is perfect for spring!
The first thing I noticed about the Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 is that it is TINY. However, Viseart is a pretty high end brand, so I wasn’t surprised by any means. A Viseart Palette that only costs $39 CAD is going to be on the smaller end of the palette spectrum. However, due to it’s size, I think it would be fantastic for travel. Continue reading
Colourpop x Kathleenlights Dream St Palette
This week has inadvertently been dubbed Colourpop week! I hauled some Colourpop products a few weeks ago so I guess it makes sense that they are all up for review right about now… Today I’ve got my review of the Colourpop x Kathleenlights Dream St Palette! I had my eye on this when Kathleenlights first announced it but I waited a bit to purchase it, so I’m really glad it was still available because it is a beauty! I tend to really like Kathleenlights’ collaborations, they always really represent the types of products, colours and finishes that she uses the most on her channel.
The Colourpop x Kathleenlights Dream St Palette is a warm toned palette with pops of colour mixed in for good measure. It also has all of the eye shadow finishes covered – mattes, satins and metallics. I was most drawn to the teal shades in the palette. They really remind me of a mermaid eyeshadow look that Kathleenlights did a few years ago. Continue reading
What’s in my Z-Palette?
I mostly talk about palettes here on the blog since I am a self-proclaimed “palette junkie” but I do own an almost complete Z-Palette full of single shadows. I thought it would be fun to go through them today and share with you what is in my custom palette. I enjoyed this because it reminded me that I have some great single shadows that I need to dig out more, and also reminded me that I need to pick up more Makeup Geek single shadows because they are aaaamazing, particularly their foiled formula. Once I complete this palette I’m going to look into getting another empty palette so if you have any suggestions for magnetic palettes let me know in the comments!

Festive Lipsticks for 2017
Last year I posted about my Top 5 Holiday Lipsticks so I thought this year I would continue that and add a few more festive lipsticks to the list. These are three lipsticks that I think are perfect for the holiday season and you can bet I will be wearing them a lot over the next month.
Aren’t they beautiful?! Swatches to follow at the end of this post!
Hail Cosmetics | Eternal Matte Lipstick in Wined
Starting off my list is Hail Cosmetics Wined which is in their Eternal Matte Lipstick formula. It isn’t your traditional holiday season red but I think that’s why I love it so much. It is more of a merlot red and pairs well with any holiday inspired look. Not to mention, Hail Cosmetics is hand-crafted right here in Thunder Bay! The formula is great, it reminds me a lot of the NARS Audacious Lipsticks, except for these are cruelty-free, so if that is something you look for, then be sure check out this line of lipsticks! Palette Spotlight: Urban Decay Naked Palette
Today’s Palette Spotlight is certainly not a new palette but, if I’m going to go through my palette collection with you guys, I have to start somewhere. The original Urban Decay Naked Palette seems like a very logical place to start for me. This has been my go-to palette again for the last little while. I’ve been sick all month so when I just want to throw a little makeup on to look less deathly, this is the neutral palette I’ve been going for.
I’m not so fond of the packaging for this palette as I find fuzzy material like this hard to keep clean and it attracts everything. I’m glad they strayed from this and started using plastic for the Naked palettes that came after the original. Continue reading
Palette Spotlight: Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette
Though the Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette has been discontinued, it is still one of my favourite palettes to use. Since I posted a purple manicure yesterday for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, I thought I’d continue the theme and post about my favourite purple palette today. The Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette was a limited edition, cool-toned palette that launched in 2014. Though it had mixed reviews, I personally haven’t had any issues with it and deeply adore it.
The packaging of this palette was well-suited for it’s name as it has a very intergalactic feel to it. It also had the classic cardboard packaging that Kat Von D’s eyeshadow palettes at the time were sporting. I quite like this packaging personally. Its sleek and easy to store. I just wish the eyeshadow names were on the inside, not on the bottom. Continue reading
Palette Spotlight: Morphe 9B Palette
I’ve had the Morphe 9B Palette since the start of the year but I haven’t really talked about it much here on the blog. With that said, I thought it would be a perfect choice for my next Palette Spotlight post. I may typically hoard eye shadow palettes, but I do have a few other types, such as blush, as well!
The Morphe 9B Palette leans rather warm, but it has a little something in it for a variety of makeup looks! It contains both matte and shimmer shades which adds to the variety. There are ore mattes than shimmers, which I tend to prefer from a blush anyhow. I would say that my favourite shade in this palette is probably the first on the second row. I do wish that Morphe normally named their shades, or at least numbered them to make it easier to blog about them! Blogger problems, am I right? Continue reading
Palette Spotlight: Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette
In continuation with NaBloPoMo I thought it would be fun to dedicate Tuesday’s this month to a different palette. Considering I am a palette junkie this in a little dive into my collection. I’ve been thinking about doing this for awhile as I’ve been asked to do a post (or posts) on it. If all goes well, I’ll continue to work through my ever-growing collection until I hit the end (is there ever an end?!). To start off though, I’ll go through ones that I’m pretty sure I haven’t done a dedicated post on in the past. So, today I’m starting off with the Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette. I picked this beauty up in August but haven’t previously featured it on the blog.
The Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette is a transformer palette that can be used on the eyes, lips and face. It definitely holds true to being multipurpose as I have used it in all three ways so far. While it isn’t truly holographic (why do brands so loosely use this term?!), all four shades have a beautiful shift to them. They all look nearly white in the pan, but when they catch the light their true pigmentation shines through. Continue reading
