Is it just me or is this summer going far too fast? I don’t mind fall, but I am absolutely dreading another snowy mess of a winter so I feel like I’m begging time to slow down! But with that said, I didn’t post June favourites so I thought I’d do a combination for June and July! I have some fantastic products to chat about that I’ve been using a lot the past two months so let’s dive in! Continue reading →
Wow I can’t believe how long it has been since I last wrote a blog post. I’ve missed you guys! How was your summer? I can’t believe how quickly that flew by as well. I had a super, super, super crazy busy summer so that was why I had to be so absent here. But, things are settling down (for now) so I am going to try to get back into the swing of things. With that said, I didn’t post monthly favourites for June, July or August! To be honest… I was living a very minimalistic makeup/haircare/skincare life so I don’t have many products to talk about but I didn’t want to skip this all together so let’s chat about the products that have been constants in my life over the past few months, shall we? My April Favourites are a little bit later than usual this time around but I have a few products that I can’t get enough of. As usual, I also have a few interesting miscellaneous favourites as well! Is anyone else feeling completely reinvigorated by the sunshine and spring beauty out there? After what always feels like a winter that is way too long the sunshine is making me feel so inspired. I have so many colourful makeup looks on my mind that I want to start working on. Continue reading →
Woah, where did March go? Is it just me or did March seem like a very busy and fast month? But, that’s okay! This just brings up closer to summer! We don’t really get a real spring in Thunder Bay so I’m mentally just skipping past that and am dreaming of a warm July by the lake. I have quite a few makeup favourites to share with you this month so let’s jump into it!
Colourpop x Kathleen Lights | Dream St Eyeshadow Palette
I purchased this palette in February and it has remained on top of my vanity pretty much since that point. I’ve been able to create so many different eye shadow looks with it, it definitely became an every day staple. I wrote a review on the Colourpop x Kathleen Lights Dream St Palette in the earlier part of March! Continue reading →
It’s once again time for my monthly favourites and I actually have a lot of miscellaneous favourites for you today along with my usual makeup and skincare favourites! February is the month of love so let’s see what I was loving this month!
Laura Mercier | Foundation Primer – Radiance
I am not usually one for any sort of primer that has the word “radiant” in it. Generally, these make my already shiny/oily skin look even more like an oil-slick. However, I have been finding lately that the cold winter we have been experiencing in Thunder Bay is making my skin look dry and lifeless. I still have to use a mattifying foundation and powder but I have been finding that adding this primer underneath (instead of a matte one) has been adding a little extra oomph to my skin. I don’t think I’d use it all year round but I could see this becoming a staple for the winter months. Continue reading →
January was a pretty great month. I started off the month (and the year) in Paris, France with my husband so the rest of this year is going to have a hard time stacking up to January. I started getting into experimenting with makeup a bit more again, trying out a few different looks which I’ve posted here. It’s going to be a great year, I can just feel it! But, on that note, let’s take a look at which products were getting the most love in January!
Zoeva | Cocoa Blend
I picked up this palette from Sephora in Paris since I haven’t really seen it in Canada but I’ve seen it all over YouTube over the past few years. It is definitely more of a neutral palette, but what drew my eye to it was the purple shade, Delicate Acidity. I posted a look using the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette last week mixing it’s warm and cool tones. I’ve been using it a lot this month and have been really enjoying it. I’ll be sure to dedicate a post to it and swatch it soon! Continue reading →
November… where did it go? I blogged my way right through it and here we are already nearly a week into December. With some upcoming travel on the horizon, I have to say, I’m pretty excited that time has been moving fast. So what was I loving in the month of November? It ended up being another minimal month as I was sick a lot of the month and wearing makeup when you’re constantly blowing your nose is kind of counter-productive. Alas, I did end up discovering a few products that became instant-favourites!
Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer, Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Powder & Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Spiced Plum
Too Faced | Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Skin Perfecting Primer
I purchased the Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Skin Perfecting Primer during the Sephora VIB Rouge Sale on a whim and boy am I glad I did! It smells delightful and does an excellent job at keeping my skin matte throughout the day. Though the weather has been cold and dry, my skin gets shiny throughout the day all year round. This has instantly become a staple in my makeup routine and was recently featured in my Oily Skin Essentials post. Continue reading →
I very seldom talk about hair here as it is an area that I am pretty unskilled in. My hair routine is pretty simple: wavy, straight or up in either a bun or a ponytail. Sometimes, a braid. Anyways, with that said, I do have some favourite hair products so in keeping with my National Blog Posting Month Challenge madness, I thought I’d share them with you today. Side note – I’m pretty darn impressed I’ve been keeping up with this despite getting sick on day one! Thank goodness I was prepared, that’s all I’ve got to say! Anyways, let’s take a look at three of my favourite hair products!
Marc Anthony | Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter Curl Cream
My hair is naturally curly/wavy so this is by far the most essential product to my hair routine. On most days I just throw a bit of the Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter Curl Cream and let it air dry. This helps tame frizz, defines my natural curls and overall makes my hair feel healthier! I can’t say enough great things about this product! Continue reading →
Vampy lipsticks are such a staple in my makeup collection. While I definitely wear them all year round, I am definitely more drawn to them during the colder months of the year. Today I thought I would share with you three of my current favourite vampy lipsticks in my collection. These are all liquid lipsticks as I find that type of formula generally packs more of a pigmented punch and are far easier to apply. Those are two factors I find very important in a dark lipstick.
Anastasia Beverly Hills | Liquid Lipstick in Heathers
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in the shade Heathers was one of the first vampy lipsticks that I added to my collection. It definitely adds a lot of drama to any makeup look I’ve worn it with. I really enjoy the formula of this one, I have previously reviewed the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick so you can find out more about it if you’re curious! It’s a beautiful brown/oxblood shade. Continue reading →
With October quickly coming to a close I’m excited to share with you a few items that I could not put down this past month. As always, these posts are typically a little more makeup-heavy as that is usually what excites me most in this vast world of beauty. Of course some of these are tried and true favourites, and may even be repeats, but lets dive into what I enjoyed using the most this month.
Too Faced | Flushed Blush in How Deep is Your Love?
This is definitely nothing new but I have been wearing Too Faced’s How Deep is Your Love? a lot lately. It just gives me the perfect cheek colour and compliments my skin tone quite well. I don’t see it listed anymore on the Sephora website so I really hope it isn’t discontinued! I do see it on the Too Faced website though. Continue reading →
