Winter Skincare

With each season the needs of our skin can change depending on the weather. Though I have oily skin all year round, I do find that my face needs a bit more hydration during the winter months. I generally have to find a balance as despite having a few dry patches my skin still looks like an oily mess at the end of the day. Since I do always use mattifying makeup products to combat the excessive oil, I find this allows me to add some moisturizing products to my routine for the winter.

I do still continue to use the Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer for Oily/Combination Skin, but at least a few times a week I use the Garnier Moisture Bomb Antioxidant Moisturizer* (pictured above in the pump-style bottle). If I use it too often I do end up reeeeeeally oily, but I find it helps keep the dry patches away. I tend to use it on days where I’m chilling at home and not really wearing any makeup. Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Sheet Mask

Garnier Skinactive Moisture Bomb Sheet Mask

Masks have become a recent staple in my skincare routine, particularly sheet masks. They are quick and simple and make minimal mess. When I was recently sent a few Garnier skincare products to try, I was most excited to try out the Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Sheet Mask. It promises to make your skin softer and more radiant by deeply moisturizing.

Garnier Skinactive Moisture Bomb Sheet Mask

The first thing that I noticed about the Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Sheet Mask is that it is by-far the best fitting face mask I have ever tried. It felt like it fit my face like a glove. Since it fit so well it felt comfortable for the entire time it was on my face. I wore this mask for about fifteen minutes. Continue reading

2016 Empties (So Far)

P1020540.jpg

Hi guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve done an empties post so I thought I would gather up the empties that I have been hoarding… I mean collecting… over the past few months and chat a bit about them. You can find my last empties post here! There is a few repeats this month from my last post, it just goes to show what I use the most!

Neutrogena | Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover

I really enjoyed using this eye makeup remover, it does a great job at removing everything including waterproof mascara. You don’t need to use much of it so it generally lasts a few months. Would I repurchase it? Well, I did repurchase it, and I do use it from time-to-time but I have primarily switched to the Garnier Micellar Water to remove all of my makeup. Continue reading

First Impressions: Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

P1020208

Hi guys! I’m finally jumping on the micellar cleansing water bandwagon. I’m pretty late to the party but I finally decided to try out the one that Garnier put out (and it was on sale!). I chose the formula that claims to remove waterproof mascara so that I could really put it to the test. I’ve enjoyed all the Garnier skincare products that I’ve used so I was excited to give this one a try!

This Micellar water is alcohol-free. It cleanses your skin without needing to rub or rinse by lifting away dirt, oil and makeup with its micelles. It’s a watery liquid that feels a bit slippery but does not contain oil and it does not have a scent. Continue reading

Current Favourite Hair Products

P1020092.jpg

Hi guys! When it comes to haircare I am a creature of habit. Once I find products that I like, I stick with them as long as they continue to work well. I have curly hair which when left un-tamed leans on the frizzy side. Basically, what I need in a hair product is something that tames the frizz and gives me soft natural looking curls/waves without a lot of fuss.

Favourite Shampoo/Conditioner: Joico Smooth Cure

I’ve been using the shampoo and conditioner from this line for quite some time now. I find it really helps keep my hair smooth and has greatly reduced some of the frizz. I also find that when I straighten my hair (which is rare) that it ends up looking more polished and is less likely to go frizzy. Continue reading

My Skincare Routine

P1010596

Hi guys! I am by no means a skincare expert, but today I thought I would share with you the routine that seems to work for my face. I have fairly oily skin so I tend to go for daytime products that are made for my skin type. Since I’m oily, I don’t want to use products that may contribute to my oiliness under my makeup. I’m less fussy at night since I know I’m going to just sleep and then wash off the products in the morning. I’m going to break down my skincare products into three categories, face washes, makeup removers and moisturizers.

Empties

P1010477

Hi guys! Today I have some products that I have recently (within the past month or so) used up. I absolutely love watching empties videos on YouTube so I thought I would bring the concept over to my blog. In case you haven’t seen an empties video (or blog post), it involves saving up your empty products and then sharing them with your opinion on if you would re-purchase that item. If my husband is reading this, I swear it isn’t hoarding, and yes I am going to throw them out now.
