Vichy Mineral Masks

Vichy Mineral Masks

One of my favourite ways to pamper myself is to put on a face mask. There is just something so relaxing about putting on a face mask and reading a book, watching a movie or just surfing the web. When I saw that Influencer was sending me two Vichy Mineral Masks complimentary for review I was really excited as both masks looked like something I would be intrigued enough to buy. As well, I’ve typically enjoyed Vichy products in the past. So lets dive into them and see what I thought of Vichy’s Soothing Aloe Vera Mask and Charcoal Mask. Continue reading

Le Petit Marseillais Mandarin & Lime Body Wash

Le Petit Marseillais Mandarin & Lime Body Wash

I was recently sent two samples of the Le Petit Marseillais Mandarin & Lime Body Wash complimentary for review from Influenster. I actually have a full sized bottle of their White Peach & Nectarine scent so the formula wasn’t new to me but I haven’t spoken about that on the blog yet either. The Le Petit Marseillais Body Wash promises to leave skin soft, moisturized and refreshed.  Continue reading

Benefit Cosmetics Benefaves Vox Box

BeneFaves Vox Box

Benefits Cosmetics is a brand that is no stranger so my vanity, but I have to say I was pretty excited when I found out that I would be receiving a Benefit Cosmetic’s Vox Box from Influenster complimentary for review. Appropriately titled the BeneFaves Vox Box, this box contains four of their most loved products. Two were new to me and two were not, but none of them have previously been reviewed here so today I’ve got four mini reviews for you. Are they all really BeneFaves? Keep reading to find out!

Ka-Brow!

Benefit Ka-Brow

As an avid user of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow, I was excited to receive Benefit’s Ka-Brow! to try as I had heard some positive things about it. It’s a cream brow product with an interesting twist… it comes with a brush inside the lid! It’s pigmented, easy to apply and the included brush make this a win for me! A little bit goes a long way and I find that my brows look the same at night as they did when freshly applied. I actually think I might like this better than Dipbrow! Continue reading

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara

Hi guys! Influenster recently sent me the Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara complimentary for review as part of a recent campaign. Since I loved the last Revlon mascara that I tried, I was really excited when I saw I was selected to participate. The Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara is a tubing mascara that deposits fibres around your lashes for volume and length. Based on it’s description alone I was quite optimistic for this one (unlike the last mascara that I reviewed!).

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara

The brush on this mascara is fairly average in size and tapers a bit towards the tip to make it super easy to use. If I can manage to not get mascara all over my under eye area when coating my bottom lashes then I call it a success! The flat style of the tube is nice as well as it doesn’t feel bulky in the hands and can be maneuvered easily. Also, since it doesn’t roll it is GREAT for photographing (blogger problems, am I right?!). Continue reading

Rimmel Influenster Voxbox

Rimmel Voxbox

Hi guys! A little under a month ago I received the Rimmel Voxbox from Influenster complimentary for review. It contains the Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara and the Only 1 Matte Lipstick in the shade Trendsetter. Given I enjoy testing mascaras and I loooove matte lipstick I was pretty excited to start testing these out. After a few weeks of testing, I’m ready to share my thoughts on them.

Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara

Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara

The premise behind the Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara is that it delivers clump-free volume with it’s patented shaker system, which allows you to shake your mascara when it needs a refresh. I have to say, this formula is so wet, I can’t really see it getting dry or clumpy before the mascara itself is ready to be tossed. However, given that we are always told not to shake mascara, it is quite satisfying to shake it up. Continue reading

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette

Maybelline-The-Blushed-Nudes-1

Hi guys! I’ve had the Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette for quite some time and I hadn’t got around to reviewing it yet. I wanted to use it more before reviewing and I never seemed to reach for it when doing my makeup so I kept putting it off. However, today I am ready to review it for you. I received this palette from Influenster for review purposes, however, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Maybelline-The-Blushed-Nudes

The palette itself is a rosey neutral palette, quite similar to the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. It contains twelve shadows, three of which are matte and the rest are shimmery.

For comparison, here is previous photos I’ve posted of the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette:

The two palettes are quite similar, however they are of course at very different price points so you can’t really expect them to be dupes. They most certainly are not. The shades in the palette are similar but that is where the comparison stops.

Maybelline-The-Blushed-Nudes-Swatches

As you can see from my swatches, these shadows sheer out a lot. They are also a bit chalky in consistency. I thought they would be impossible to work with, but I found them relatively easy to work with. The darker shades definitely are easier to work with than the lighter shades. I always use a primer when applying eye makeup so it always wears consistently so I can’t really speak to wear time.

Here is a look that I did using the Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette:

Since the shadows don’t have names (why wouldn’t you name your shadows?!) I’ve done up this guide to show you which shades I used in this look:

So, while this isn’t my favourite palette in the world, I wouldn’t completely write it off. For the price (approx $14 CAD) it’s a decent palette. I found the best way to apply these shadows was to pack them on using a shader brush or a crease precision blender (Morphe E17). If you wanted a softer look, you could definitely blend them out and achieve that. While personally, I think I’ll stick to my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, if you’re looking to dabble into eye makeup, this might be a good place to start. It’s a good selection of shades, is inexpensive and since the shadows are a little more on the sheer-side you can really control the amount you are applying.

Have you tried the Maybelline The Blushed Nudes palette out? Let me know what your thoughts were in the comments down below. If not, what is your favourite drugstore palette? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

xoxo,

Robyn

Review: Maybelline Better Skin Foundation & Concealer

Maybelline BetterSkin Foundation Concealer Ivory.jpg

Hi guys! As I mentioned on Saturday, I received a VoxBox from Influenster full of Maybelline goodies. Today I want to share my review of the Better Skin Foundation and Concealer. These are part of their Super Stay line and are meant to be skin transforming. Unfortunately the shade of foundation I received is a bit too dark for me to wear everyday so I can’t test those claims, but I can chat about how it applied and wore on my skin.

The word I normally use to describe my skin is oily. Unless I’m using mattifying products, my foundation will get shiny fast. That is exactly what happened when I used this foundation. I did set my face with Maybelline Matte + Poreless Translucent Powder but it did still get shiny after a few hours. Surprisingly though, I don’t dislike how it turned out, it looks a bit dewy which is not usually a look I end up with. My foundation usually goes from matte to greaseball status but this is a nice in-between. I think it would be nice for summer, although I’m not sure how it would react to warmer temperatures, it’s been pretty chilly here this weekend.

MOTD: Mostly Maybelline!

Maybelline VoxBox.jpg

Hi guys! I just received a VoxBox from Influenster yesterday that was full of Maybelline goodies to test and review. While I am going to be posting full reviews on the items I received, I thought it would be fun to slap them all on my face and give you my first impressions. My full reviews will be more detailed and comment on wear time, and how they worked for my skin type. I did also add in a few Maybelline items that I already owned to keep this look as Maybelline oriented as I could. The photo above is all the items that I received for review.
