Little Mermaid Inspired Makeup Look

Little Mermaid Inspired Makeup Look

For the last week or so I’ve had a makeup look in my mind that I wanted to create. I wanted to create something inspired by the Little Mermaid. Meaning… I wanted to combine some foily purples and greens along with a pinky-red lip. Though I didn’t end up using the products exactly as I had envisioned I was quite pleased with how this Little Mermaid inspired makeup look turned out. I’m kind of thinking of turning this into a series and sharing more character-inspired makeup looks. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below! Continue reading

Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette

Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette

Kat Von D’s makeup line recently turned ten years old. In celebration she launched a beautiful limited edition collection because how else would you celebrate such an achievement? While the collection in it’s entirety looked stunning, I only picked up the Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette. She always knocks it out of the park with her eyeshadow palettes and this one with all of it’s rainbowy goodness just had to be mine. After a few weeks of testing I am ready to share my thoughts about this palette with you today. Keep on reading for swatches of this beautiful palette as well as a few makeup looks using it! Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Palette: Warm Eyeshadow Look

Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Palette Warm Eyeshadow Look

I purchased the Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Palette on launch day and since it arrived in the mail I have been wearing it so much! I do plan on doing a review of the palette but I couldn’t wait to share one of the looks that I created with this palette. I love fire-y warm eyeshadow looks so I was drawn to the gold shimmer shade and the warm matte shades. These types of shades make me so happy and to me, just never get old. But although I love these shades, I can’t wait to share the other looks that I’ve created with this palette with you!

The Limited Edition Makeup Tag

Limited Edition Tag

Well, that was an unexpected break from blogging… My husband and I have been working on some home renovations and they were a lot more time consuming than I had expected (aren’t they all?). However, I’m back and hopefully will be returning to posting consistently. I was cruising Facebook a week or so ago and saw a new YouTube video by Chelle of Makeup Your Mind and I was super intrigued. I’ve embedded her video at the end of this post and I definitely suggest checking it out! The video was The Limited Edition Makeup Tag which allows creators to give some love to Limited Edition items that we may not talk about regularly due to the ability to get them anymore. I’m all for any opportunity to give some love to my favourite Limited Edition Makeup products so I was all about participating in this tag.

QUESTIONS:

1. What is the LE product you are most happy you got your hands on?

The Kat Von D Metal Matte Palette is hands down one of my favourite palettes in general, limited edition or not. It has a little bit of everything in it – both colourful and neutral so I keep coming back to it for creating different looks.

Colourful Easter Makeup Look

Colourful Easter Makeup Look

Happy Easter, everyone! It’s been a bit of a quiet week over here on the blog, but it’s sure been a busy one. I don’t know why I thought it would be less busy but I definitely didn’t have time to finish up the posts that I had planned. Anyways, in the spirit of Easter, I thought I’d share with you a colourful Easter makeup look that I did for an event this weekend. I used the Violet Voss The Rainbow Eyeshadow Palette which I should be doing a review on in the coming weeks. It’s a great palette for doing fun makeup looks like this one!

St Patrick’s Day Makeup Look

St Patrick's Day Makeup Look

Happy St Patrick’s Day! I actually was out celebrating a night ahead of the real day so I thought I’d share with you the St Patrick’s Day makeup look that I created. Every time I wear green eye shadow I remember why I love it and wish that I wore it more often. I really need to do it more often than just on St Patrick’s Day. While my plans tonight are a bit quieter (I’m going with the husband to see a comedy show), I think I’ll do another green eye makeup look anyways. Why not?

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick Prayer

Kat Von D recently reformulated and rereleased her Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick which to be honest, I wasn’t really a fan of before. I only own one in the previous formula and it is so matte that it is almost painful to apply to the lips (though they may not all be like that). This time around however, it is more of a cream formula instead of super-super matte. I knew I needed to try one out so I picked up the shade Prayer which is described as a deep merlot. I love vampy shades like this so my eye was instantly drawn to it. Continue reading

Limited Edition Palettes That I Still Love

Limited Edition Palettes

Limited edition… those two words that are meant to feel like you have to have something because someday it won’t be as easy to get your hands on. I have to admit, I’ve been hit by the urge to buy something because of those words. Particularly if it was something I was already interested in, the limited-edition-ness would simply seal the deal. This is because I have been burnt by missing out on a limited edition product that I really wanted because I waited too long. I try not to post about limited edition items when they are no longer available because I prefer that if something sparks interest with a reader, that they would be able to go out and purchase it. However, limited edition items need love too so today’s post is all about four limited edition palettes that I still love and use quite frequently. That’s the thing about limited edition items… sometimes they end up forgotten, no matter how much you felt like you needed to have it.

Anastasia Beverly Hills | Self Made Palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette was the first ABH eyeshadow palette that I ever purchased and it really sparked my love for their eyeshadow. For that reason and just how great this palette is, it has a very special place in my heart. I pull this palette out quite often because it has a great variety. My favourite combination is Sherbert in the crease with Hot & Cold all over the lid and Hot Chocolate in the outer-v and under my eye. However, the shade Isla is also gorgeous and fun to use! Mixing Cool Tones and Warm Tones

Mixing Cool Tones and Warm Tones

After sharing a glittery makeup look last week using the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in the shade Glamrock last week, I was inspired to use it again. This time though, I wanted to use it as a pop of glitter in an eye makeup look that would combine both cool tones and warm tones. I knew that my brand new Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette was up for this task. I don’t often blend cool tones and warm tones but after creating this look, I am questioning past practices because I am in love with how this look turned out! I’m also questioning why the heck I don’t do winged eyeliner more often, but enough of me gabbing about the look, let’s take a look at it, shall we?

Palette Spotlight: Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette

Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette

Though the Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette has been discontinued, it is still one of my favourite palettes to use. Since I posted a purple manicure yesterday for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, I thought I’d continue the theme and post about my favourite purple palette today. The Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette was a limited edition, cool-toned palette that launched in 2014. Though it had mixed reviews, I personally haven’t had any issues with it and deeply adore it.

Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette Packaging

The packaging of this palette was well-suited for it’s name as it has a very intergalactic feel to it. It also had the classic cardboard packaging that Kat Von D’s eyeshadow palettes at the time were sporting. I quite like this packaging personally. Its sleek and easy to store. I just wish the eyeshadow names were on the inside, not on the bottom. Continue reading
