There’s nothing better than getting to try a product out without having to shell out money for a full sized product. Especially when that product is considered a luxury brand and therefore has a higher price tag. I’ve been intrigued by Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks for some time now, especially since Sephora started carrying them, but the price tag ($39 CAD) always made me put off the inevitable purchase. When I saw that the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick was available in the Sephora Beauty Insider Rewards Bazaar I didn’t hesitate to use some of my points to try it out. The shade that was available as a deluxe sample was Pillow Talk which is a nude pink. For me I would consider this a MBB shade (my lips but better) which is great! Continue reading

NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment
In one of my recent Sephora orders I picked up a deluxe sized sample of the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in the shade Starwoman. This is a formula I’ve been wanting to try for a long time so I was excited to see it in the Rewards Bazaar. I’ve worn it a couple of times now so I’m ready to give you my thoughts on the formula, as well as show you the photos I took throughout the day of how it wore. Continue reading
Jouer Lip Crème Review
I purchased the Jouer Lip Crème in the shade blush back in December and I feel like I’ve used it enough now to form an opinion on it. I mainly purchased it so that I could pair it with one of Jouer’s Lip Toppers but I have worn this on it’s own quite a few times now. The Jouer Lip Crème promises to be lightweight and keep your lips feeling conditioned with it’s vitamin E infused formula.
First off, I have to say I’m a bit put off by the odd shape of this product. I normally love square products. As a beauty blogger I love any product that doesn’t try to roll away while being photographed, however these have a strange indent that I can’t figure out what the use of it is. It almost looks like the lipsticks could click together?
The formula is very moussey and reminds me of the Tarte Lip Paints. They have a delicious vanilla smell that just feels nostalgic to me for some reason. I find the applicator to be quite standard so I haven’t had any issues using it.

1. Freshly applied @ 8 AM; 2. 12 PM Pre-lunch; 3. 12:30 Post-lunch (ate an oily salad); 4. 5 PM Final check-in before taking it off
Now as for how it wore on the lips… it definitely settles into the lip lines but looks passable when first applied. With time it seems to settle even more dramatically into the lip lines and flakes off throughout the day. I looked in the mirror after wearing it all morning and was a bit shocked by how awful my lips looked up close. I discovered lip lines that I didn’t even know I had! It’s a shame because I really like the colour. I’d probably still wear it for short outings since it does initially look good and takes some time to start settling, but I don’t think I’d wear it for any extended periods of time.
Overall… I would not purchase another Jouer Lip Crème. I’m so disappointed, I was so excited when I saw Sephora was carrying Jouer! But they can’t all be winners.
What was the last disappointing product that you tried? Let me know in the comments below!

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick
Kat Von D recently reformulated and rereleased her Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick which to be honest, I wasn’t really a fan of before. I only own one in the previous formula and it is so matte that it is almost painful to apply to the lips (though they may not all be like that). This time around however, it is more of a cream formula instead of super-super matte. I knew I needed to try one out so I picked up the shade Prayer which is described as a deep merlot. I love vampy shades like this so my eye was instantly drawn to it. Continue reading
Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick
Fenty Beauty… doesn’t it seem like they are taking the beauty world by storm right now? Their products have been flooding my social media feeds and I ain’t mad about it. Fenty Beauty, created by singer Rihanna, has been launching products out like crazy since they launched in September. One of their latest releases is their Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick – a matte lipstick meant to be both weightless and long-wearing. You all know I love a matte lipstick so I was eager to pick one up and try it myself. I chose the shade Spanked which is described as a dusty rose.
The first thing I noticed about the Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick is that the tube is not only quite long and thin, but it is also very light in weight. However the shape makes it quite easy to get a good grip on to get a flawless application. The reflective surface is definitely a finger-print magnet which is a nightmare if you want to photograph the product (also difficult to not get your own reflection in the shot) but it is quite pretty to look at.
The little FB embossed on the top of the Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick was such a nice touch, it was almost a shame to use it for the first time and smudge it away. I’m glad I got a photo of it first!
The formula of the Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick itself is very creamy and pigmented. One swipe gave me full pigmentation and one quick blot didn’t take away any of the pigmentation. It definitely applied like a cream lipstick, however once it dried down it looked just like a liquid lipstick! As mentioned before, I found the thin shape of the product made it very easy to get an even and clean application on the lips.

1. Freshly applied at 8 AM; 2. Pre-lunch check-in at 12 PM; 3. Post-lunch check-in at 12:45 PM; 4. End of day check-in at 5 PM
The Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick easily lasted me throughout the day. I had a little bit of wear in the centre of the lips but to the naked eye, it was barely visible. In fact, I didn’t even notice until I was editing my photos that there were a few spots where it wore off. For the most part it felt very comfortable on the lips my lips did feel a touch dry at the end of the day. However, my office at work is VERY dry and I’ve been finding my lips and skin abnormally dry lately. I did put lip balm on prior to applying this which helps keep some moisture in.
Overall, I am in love with this formulation! It applied so well and had the staying power of a liquid lipstick which I find so impressive for a “standard tube” style lipstick.
Have you tried any Fenty Beauty products yet? Let me know in the comments below! Like the style of this post? Be sure to check out my other Love for Lipstick series reviews!

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick
Last spring I won a YSL Beauty Box Giveaway hosted by beauty editor, Dave Lackie. In this prize was a YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick, a formula I hadn’t tried before but obviously was excited to test out. Somehow it took me this long to do a proper test but I’m ready to share my thoughts on this product with you today. I received shade #201, Orange Imagine which is a beautiful matte orange red shade.
The gold packaging of this lipstick feels very luxe and has a bit of weight to it. The square shape of the tube, while not completely unique, does make it stand out a bit more in my collection of mostly classic round tubes. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick has a faint scent to it, I want to say it might be roses? The scent doesn’t last on the lips so you don’t have to worry about that if you are sensitive to scented products. Continue reading
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick
It is no secret that I love liquid lipsticks so when I saw that Bite Beauty came out with their own version, I was definitely intrigued. I did see several reviews of the product so coming into this, I knew it wasn’t the matte liquid lipstick that I am used to. Instead, the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks are more similar to the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. Essentially, a cream lipstick in liquid form. I chose the shade Purée which is a beautiful burnt orange shade.
To start off, the square packaging is quite attractive. It is not only flat-lay friendly (#bloggerproblems) it really stands out from your standard tube. I also quite enjoy the long and tapered doe-foot applicator, it was really quite easy to get an even and precise distribution of the product. Continue reading
Love for Lipstick: Lipsense
Hi guys! I feel like for the past year or so, Lipsense by SeneGence has been everywhere I look. At work, on Instagram, on Facebook, at local events, you name it. Lipsense appears to be SeneGence’s most popular product as it is a long-wearing lipstick with some serious claims. It is said to last up to 18 hours and to be kiss proof, smudge proof and water proof. Basically, it sounds like it can survive an apocalypse. I have to admit, I was really skeptical of this “miracle” product, being an avid hoarder of lipsticks of all varieties. However, when Hallie of All Day Everyday Lips, a local distributor offered me a set for review, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see if this product really works.
With a whopping forty-five shades to choose from, I chose the shade Berry. I love deep shades like this for the fall. Also, dark colours also seem to be the most noticeable when they disappear so it seemed perfect for a wear test. Hallie also provided me with a Glossy Gloss and an Ooops! Remover so that I had everything I needed to begin this Lipsense journey.
Love for Lipstick: Make Up For Ever Artist Acrylip
Hi guys! Today I’ve finally got a new addition to my Love for Lipstick series – Make Up For Ever Artist Acrylip in the shade 500 (Lilac). I had seen quite a few great reviews on this product so I had to pick one up last month during a trip to Sephora. Even so, I was a bit skeptical as they look very similar to the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks which I’m not really fond of. Nonetheless, I thought I’d give them a try anyways.
The Make Up For Ever Artist Acrylip are inspired by the pigmentation of acrylic paints. The tube style and cushion applicator allow for control over how much of the product you want to apply. The applicator is quite easy to use though and it wasn’t hard to get a clean application. The formula of these feel quite comfortable on the lips. My lips never really felt dry at all throughout the day. Continue reading
Rimmel Influenster Voxbox
Hi guys! A little under a month ago I received the Rimmel Voxbox from Influenster complimentary for review. It contains the Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara and the Only 1 Matte Lipstick in the shade Trendsetter. Given I enjoy testing mascaras and I loooove matte lipstick I was pretty excited to start testing these out. After a few weeks of testing, I’m ready to share my thoughts on them.
Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara
The premise behind the Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara is that it delivers clump-free volume with it’s patented shaker system, which allows you to shake your mascara when it needs a refresh. I have to say, this formula is so wet, I can’t really see it getting dry or clumpy before the mascara itself is ready to be tossed. However, given that we are always told not to shake mascara, it is quite satisfying to shake it up. Continue reading
