I mostly talk about palettes here on the blog since I am a self-proclaimed “palette junkie” but I do own an almost complete Z-Palette full of single shadows. I thought it would be fun to go through them today and share with you what is in my custom palette. I enjoyed this because it reminded me that I have some great single shadows that I need to dig out more, and also reminded me that I need to pick up more Makeup Geek single shadows because they are aaaamazing, particularly their foiled formula. Once I complete this palette I’m going to look into getting another empty palette so if you have any suggestions for magnetic palettes let me know in the comments!

Simple Cut Crease: KathleenLights Collabs Focused Look
Hi guys! Today I wanted to share with you the details of the look that I posted last weekend on Instagram of a look I did mainly using products that KathleenLights collaborated on with companies. I did the look in celebration of her birthday weekend which is why it is focused around her products. In case you didn’t figure it out, I’m a huge fan of her channel and the collaborations that she has done. I’ve purchased quite a few of them and I have yet to find one that wasn’t worth it. Makeup Geek Haul
Hi guys! Today I have a Makeup Geek haul for you! Around the holidays they had a sale on quite a few of their items so I thought that was the perfect opportunity to pick up a few more of their products. I already own and love quite a few of their foiled eye shadows but I had always been meaning to try more. With the Canadian dollar and cost of shipping what it currently is, I was holding out for some kind of sale. Makeup Geek is already a very reasonably priced and quality brand though. For this haul, I picked up the Kathleenlights Highlighter Palette (Kathleenlights AND highlighters? How could I not?) and a few of their eye shadow pans and a blush! Continue reading
Bright Spring/Easter Look
Hi guys! In the spirit of it being Easter weekend I thought it would be fun to do a bright Spring look and add a video! I’ve been seeing so much turquoise lately so the main goal was to incorporate a little bit into a look.
St. Patrick’s Day Makeup for Every Day
Hi guys! Since St. Patrick’s Day is a workday if you work a 9-5 Monday to Friday job and you’re not on March Break I thought I would do a look that allows you to incorporate some green into your look without going over-the-top. All I did was one of my typical matte natural eye looks but added a pop of green under the eye. I’m really happy with how it turned out! If you’re looking for something a little more green, I did post a more green eye look a few months ago here!
Products Used:
Primer: Nivea Post Shave Balm in Sensitive
Foundation: L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in Classic Ivory
Concealer: Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Fair Neutral
Powder: Laura Mercier Translucent Powder and Maybelline Matte + Poreless Translucent Powder
Blush: Urban Decay After-Glow Blush in Rapture
Contour: Anastasia Beverly Hills Fawn
Highlight: theBalm’s Mary Lou-Manizer
Eyes: Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer. Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Palette – Samael (crease and outer v) and Laetus (all over lid). Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow – Fantasy (inner lower eye) and Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette – Grasshopper (outer lower eye). Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Demolition. L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara (lashes).
Brows: NYX Micro-Brow in Taupe and L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper in Light to Medium
Lips: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Fiend
I think this is a very work appropriate, yet fun look to do if you are stuck at work for St. Patrick’s Day! You could really add a pop of any colour to this look for any occasion. I personally love using purple under the eye with a neutral look like this (huge surprise, I know!).
Do you have any fun looks planned for St. Patrick’s Day? Let me know in the comments down below!

Holiday Look #2
Hi guys! I have another holiday inspired look to share with you today. Since green is a fairly prominent colour during the holiday season I wanted to do a look where the main focus is green eye shadow. It definitely has colour to it so it is not a neutral look, but I don’t think it is over-the-top or dramatic either. I feel like it could be worn to both formal or casual holiday parties. I wore this look to a Christmas dinner at a friends house which was also an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. Continue reading
Halloween Featuring Black Widow & a Donut!!
Hi guys! This is an exciting post because I don’t just have my look for Halloween, but I also have the look that I did on one of my best friends, Chrissy! We got ready together yesterday before going out for Halloween and this was the result! This was the first time I’ve ever did someone else’s makeup and I’m happy with the results! Her makeup was already partially done, so I did her eyes and cheeks. Since she was a donut I had some freedom to have fun with her eye makeup, so with that said, I’m going to go into more detail about her look.
Silver and Purple Makeup Look
Hi guys! I normally have a Mani Monday post for you today, but my nails are an absolute mess today. I’ve been pretty busy the last few days so I haven’t had a chance to re-do my nails. So instead, this week I’m going to switch things up a bit and do a makeup look today and a manicure related post later this week.
This is a look that I did last week for Thanksgiving and I was really happy with how it turned out. I did a silver foiled lid, smoked out with a darker shadow, with a pop of purple under the eye. I didn’t really know what my plan was, I just started playing with shadows and this is what I ended up with. I was really happy with it and I’ll definitely be re-creating it in the future. I love silver and purple together. My original wedding colours were going to be purple and silver until I saw purple and turquoise together and fell in love.
Products Used:
Foundation: L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in Classic Ivory
Concealer: Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer in Ivory
Powder: Anastasia Beverly Hills Banana Powder (undereye) and MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light (all over face)
Blush: e.l.f. Studio Blush Palette in Light (I used the bottom left shade)
Contour: Anastasia Beverly Hills Fawn
Highlight: The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion (original). Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow in Charmed (all over lid). Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette – Combust (transition/crease), Dagger (blended into outer corner), Smoulder (under eye), and High (inner corner of eye). Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Psychedelic Sister (waterline). Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara (lashes).
Brows: Milani Easybrow Automatic Pencil in Taupe and L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper in Light to Medium
Lips: Colourpop Lippie Stix in Fern
I really need to play with the Makeup Geek Foiled Shadows more, they are just so nice to work with. I’m still using my finger to apply them because it seems to be the easiest way to get a nice, even and pigmented application.
What are some of your favourite colour combinations for eye makeup? Let me know in the comments down below!

Soft & Feminine
Hi guys! Today I’m going to show you a look that I wore last weekend to a Bridal Shower. I used the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette to create a soft and feminine pink look. The end result was very simple and would pair well with any outfit, which was perfect because at the time I had no idea what I was going to wear!
Let’s get into it!
Products Used:
Foundation: L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in Classic Ivory
Concealer: Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer in Ivory
Powder: Anastasia Beverly Hills Banana Powder (undereye) and MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light (all over face)
Blush: Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow
Bronzer/Contour: Anastasia Beverly Hills Java and Fawn
Highlight: The Balm’s Mary Lou-Manizer
Eyes: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette – Limit (Crease), Buzz (Center half of lid) and Darkside (Outer half of lid). Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow in Whimsical (small amount in the centre of the lid). Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Demolition (water line). Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (lashes).
Brows: Milani Easybrow Automatic Pencil in Taupe
Lips: MAC lipstick in Chatterbox
This look was perfect for an afternoon of celebrating my friend’s upcoming wedding! I tend to stick to the first half of the Naked 3 palette when I use it, the pink shades are just so pretty and shiny. The Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow added a perfect hint of colour to my cheeks, while the MAC lipstick in Chatterbox kept the pink theme going strong!

Welcome + Makeup Geek Foiled Shadows
Welcome to my blog!
My name is Robyn and I am a make up addict/hoarder/enthusiast. I live at the head of Lake Superior in Thunder Bay, Ontario. While it is a beautiful city to live in, our small population doesn’t attract stores like Sephora which makes shopping for makeup a bit difficult. Most of my beauty hauls are from shopping online unless I am travelling.
Please join me as I review beauty products, share my favourites, show tutorials and more!
To get things started I wanted to talk about the widely popular Makeup Geek Foiled Shadows. I purchased the more recently launched shadows and I am beyond impressed. They definitely live up to the hype they have been receiving on YouTube. I was torn between ordering the original launch vs. the newer launch. Since it is summer time I thought I would go for the brighter new ones. Also, they currently have a deal where you can buy the Expansion Set (10 pans) for $89. Considering they cost $9.99 individually you end up saving $10.00 this way.
The box they arrived in was affixed with a sticker that has the Makeup Geek logo on it. A small detail like this really sets them apart from other packages I have received.
Inside the box the shadows were bundled together in this stunning presentation. The rose gold packaging is gorgeous.
