Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara

It’s been awhile since I last reviewed a mascara for you guys so I thought I’d share my thoughts on the one I’ve been using a lot lately. Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara claims to be “an ultra-volumizing mascara that delivers instant dimension for epic lashes.” I believe I used Sephora points to pick up this mascara if I remember correctly. I quite enjoy mini mascaras as it is an excellent way to try out new formulas without spending big bucks. Continue reading

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

Urban Decay is by far one of my favourite brands, so when I saw they had released a new mascara, my interest was definitely captured. However, I don’t usually purchase many high end mascaras as there are so many great drug store ones so I didn’t immediately jump on board. When I saw that the Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara was part of the Sephora Favourites Lashstash as one of the full sized products it sealed the deal on that purchase. The Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara promises to “[deliver] a lengthening, perfectly fanned-out look with extreme volume for longer, thicker-looking lashes”. Let’s see how it delivered on this promise!

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

First off, the packaging is quite sleek. It is a shiny duo-chrome tube that is really quite eye-catching. The brush has tiny hooks to grab each lash and apply the product to ensure no lash is missed. I quite like the size of it, it isn’t too big or too small. It worked well for both the top and bottom lashes. Continue reading

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara

Hi guys! Influenster recently sent me the Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara complimentary for review as part of a recent campaign. Since I loved the last Revlon mascara that I tried, I was really excited when I saw I was selected to participate. The Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara is a tubing mascara that deposits fibres around your lashes for volume and length. Based on it’s description alone I was quite optimistic for this one (unlike the last mascara that I reviewed!).

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara

The brush on this mascara is fairly average in size and tapers a bit towards the tip to make it super easy to use. If I can manage to not get mascara all over my under eye area when coating my bottom lashes then I call it a success! The flat style of the tube is nice as well as it doesn’t feel bulky in the hands and can be maneuvered easily. Also, since it doesn’t roll it is GREAT for photographing (blogger problems, am I right?!). Continue reading

Rimmel Influenster Voxbox

Rimmel Voxbox

Hi guys! A little under a month ago I received the Rimmel Voxbox from Influenster complimentary for review. It contains the Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara and the Only 1 Matte Lipstick in the shade Trendsetter. Given I enjoy testing mascaras and I loooove matte lipstick I was pretty excited to start testing these out. After a few weeks of testing, I’m ready to share my thoughts on them.

Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara

Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara

The premise behind the Rimmel Shake it Fresh Mascara is that it delivers clump-free volume with it’s patented shaker system, which allows you to shake your mascara when it needs a refresh. I have to say, this formula is so wet, I can’t really see it getting dry or clumpy before the mascara itself is ready to be tossed. However, given that we are always told not to shake mascara, it is quite satisfying to shake it up. Continue reading

Essence Lash Princess False Effect Mascara

Essence Lash Princess False Effect Mascara

Hi guys! I mentioned the Essence Lash Princess False Effect Mascara in my January Favourites, and as promised, I’m ready to give you my full review! Essence is a brand that I am usually impressed by, their prices are fantastic and their products are usually of great quality. After enjoying the last mascara that I tried from them and seeing the False Lash Effect Mascara mentioned in a Rachhloves video on YouTube, I knew I had to give it a try.

L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara

Hi guys! As you know, I love testing and trying out different mascaras. I had previously reviewed the L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara, but when a friend suggested the Telescopic Mascara in the gold mascara I was intrigued.

The brush with the Telescopic Mascara is the same as the Telescopic Carbon Black. They both have a flexible precision brush. I personally love this style of brush because it works well for both the top and bottom lashes. Much easier to apply mascara without wearing it all over my skin!

Essence Get BIG Lashes Mascara

Essence-Get-BIG-Lashes

Hi guys! I’ve been using the Essence Get BIG Lashes Mascara for about a month or two now so I feel like I’m ready to do a review on it. I feel like I’m always switching which mascaras I use each quarter – meaning I don’t typically re-buy something I’ve already tried. This means I end up reviewing a number of mascaras. Each time I try a mascara I make a mental list of ones that I WOULD repurchase again though. With so many mascara choices though, I always feel temped to try new ones.

Essence is a brand that I’ve been getting more and more into this year. It is so inexpensive and the products are of a high quality. Each time I go to Shopper’s Drug Mart another Essence product make’s it’s way home with me. I had been hearing positive things about their mascaras but couldn’t remember which one so I grabbed one that seemed appealing to me. I chose the Get BIG Lashes Mascara which is meant for volume boosting.

The wand itself is football shaped and is on the bigger side. Essence claims the large wand is to make sure each lash is coated, however, I prefer a smaller brush if you’re trying to get every lash. Due to it’s size, you need to be careful particularly when coating those pesky bottom lashes.

My lashes themselves look longer and definitely have more volume than usual when wearing this mascara. My lashes on the one eye (of course the one I got the better pictures of) tend to clump together so that is not a fault of this mascara. The formula is fairly light weight so you can’t really tell you’re wearing it. It isn’t as weightless feeling as the Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara which is the last mascara I reviewed and the other one in my current rotation.

Essence-Get-BIG-Lashes-Mascara-1

As for wear-time, I’m currently wearing this mascara as I write this and I’ve had it on for about twelve hours and my lashes look the same as they did this morning. No flakes or smudges at all.

Overall, I really like the Essence Get BIG Lashes Mascara and I would repurchase it eventually. I think I like the Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara a bit more though. That one seems to have a bit more “oomph” to it and the wand is smaller.

Have you tried any Essence Mascaras? I’d love to try another so please leave your suggestions in the comments down below!

xoxo,

Robyn

Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara

Revlon-Dramatic-Definition-Mascara2.jpg

Hi guys! Every 3-4 months it is suggested that you replace your mascara. I have been trying to do this quarterly to make it easier to keep track. I’ve been using theRevlon Dramatic Definition Mascara since the beginning of May and I am ready to share my thoughts on it!

The Revlon Mascara collection has something for everyone… They have a formula for volume, length, volume + length, dramatic definition and an all-in-one. I chose the Dramatic Definition formula as it claims to separate and define every lash which seemed appealing to me. It was a toss up between this one and the all-in-one and I think I chose wisely.

The wand is plastic and tiered to make sure that you don’t miss a lash. It’s fairly average sized so it is fairly easy to work with. It’s even pretty easy to use with your bottom lashes! The formula glides on and dries to a nice weightless finish. This is one of those mascaras where if you happen to touch your lashes, you don’t feel like you’re wearing mascara. There has been a few times where I’ve panicked because I thought I forgot to put on mascara! Continue reading

May Empties

May Empties.jpg

Hi guys! I don’t normally do a monthly empties post (I did a “Empties So Far” style post in April) but in May I finished enough stuff to be worthy of it’s own post! I was pretty excited when I looked at my stash of finished products and saw this many items, so let’s go through them!

Skin Care

Garnier-SkinActive-Micellar-Water-Spectro-Cleanser

Garnier | SkinActive Micellar Water (Waterproof)

I was really sad to finish this product. It’s really great for removing making and really cut time in my night-time routine. Prior to using this I was removing my face makeup and eye makeup with different products. Definitely a great product, this was my first Micellar Water and I look forward to trying more. Would I repurchase it? Yes! Absolutely. I also did a first impressions post on this product which you can find here!

Spectro | Cleanser for Blemish-Prone Skin

I can’t believe how long this thing lasted me. In fact, I can’t even remember when I purchased it. This is a very gentle cleanser that does a great job at cleansing the skin. I chose the blemish-prone skin formula since my skin airs on the oily side. I actually don’t get many blemishes but I find this one helps with my oil. Would I repurchase it? Yes, and I already did! L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara

P1020217.jpg

Hi guys! I really wanted to have another video up for you today but it seems that the universe just doesn’t want that to happen. I usually film the weekend before I post but I was so sick and so busy last weekend that I just didn’t have the time. I tried to film a nail tutorial today to post but my technique was off and I ended up blocking half the footage with my other hand while painting the nails. Frustrating, but at least I can use this manicure for Mani Monday right? I’m going to attempt to film tomorrow for next week’s video. Today had other frustrations so I think starting fresh tomorrow is a must!

Anyways, this week I picked up the L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara. I had seen it mentioned so many times on YouTube, and I’m currently out of my holy grail Too Faced Better than Sex mascara so I thought I would give it a try. I usually like L’Oreal makeup so I went into this venture with optimism!
