Hi guys! I hope you all had a wonderful week! Mine just flew by.

My week started out with a trip to the Terry Fox Monument. My husband and I were talking about how we hadn’t gone together in awhile so we took a short drive there to enjoy the view. This was followed by a trip to Merla Mae for an always delicious ice cream cone.

I also had another coffee date with one of my best friends and her baby. This is seeming to become a regular thing and I’m really enjoying that. You really do learn who your real friends are in life and it is so important to spend time with them.

This week was another one of my best friends’ birthday. She had a little get together at her place to celebrate which was full of great food, and great times. We spent some time playing with her camera and sparklers which ended up creating some awesome pictures.

Today my husband and I decided to take a drive out to Kakabeka Falls to walk around and enjoy the view. The weather was absolutely beautiful today so we thought we should take advantage of it. It is places like this that remind me why I love living in Northern Ontario.

I hope everyone had a great week! Let me know if you did anything interesting in the comments below!

Snapshot Sunday

Hi guys! Another week has flown right by, I can’t believe we are nearing the end of September. How did that happen? This week has been relatively eventful but I have almost no pictures to show for it.

Sept 20-15

In lieu of pictures from this week… I give you puppy cuddles from this week!

This week started off with a lovely coffee date with one of my best friends and her adorable baby boy. I decided to give the newly formulated Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks a try, and I was not disappointed. I didn’t like the original, but the revamped one is delicious!

Work was very busy so I enjoyed some quiet evenings at home to recharge. I don’t think I’ve had a week fly by quite as quickly and chaotically as this past one.

After work on Friday my husband and I attended an event called Savour Superior. It was a fundraiser that featured samples from many local businesses. There was lots of culinary dishes and beverages to choose from. The format was very interesting. Your admission ticket came with 20 sample tickets that you could use at the booths. At each booth the samples they offered ranged in price but were usually around 3-4 tickets on average. You could buy more sample tickets if need be but I found 20 to be the perfect amount. After trying many different booths, I found that the Pakoras at Daytona’s were my favourite dish. I really wanted to take some pictures of the samples I tried to use for this post but it was so crowded.

On Saturday I went out shopping twice, once with my husband and once with my mom. It was nice to spend the day wandering around the mall while sipping on a yummy tea.

Today, I might be being a bit ambitious but I would like to work out, go for a walk, do my grocery shopping and do laundry. Let’s see how much of that I actually get done…

I hope you all had a wonderful week! As always, feel free to share your stories below in the comments!

Until next time…

Robyn

Snapshot Sunday

Hi guys! Another week has come and gone, and this time it was a slightly busier one. I had my last little bit of holidays for the summer so I relaxed and enjoyed the beginning of the week. I wish I could say I was productive, but for the most part, I was not. I did make it to the gym and cleaned the house though.

Sept 13-15

The view from the cliff behind the cottage at Silver Islet

Later on this week my father-in-law came to visit. This always means a lot of eating. We always go out for a few delicious meals while he is here and this time was no exception. The first night we had our standard dinner at the Caribou (my favourite), we took him to the Barbecupid Food Truck, we went to the Sovereign Room for appetizers, and Made Fresh for breakfast. All of the meals were too much food, but delicious nonetheless!

After all of the eating was out of the way, we spent Saturday afternoon at Silver Islet. We had never taken him there before so we enjoyed taking him around to see the sights. This including going up the cliff behind the cottage for the breathtaking view. Thankfully the weather cooperated and it was nice and warm all day.

I hope everyone else had a great week! As always, share your stories in the comments below!

Hi guys! Another week has come and gone so it is time for my weekly recap.

It's all about camp.... 1. Prepping some colourful veggies for camp 2. Max "driving" my husband's car 3. Beautiful afternoon view on the deck

It’s all about camp…. 1. Prepping some colourful veggies for camp 2. Max “driving” my husband’s car 3. Beautiful afternoon view on the deck

This was a special week as my little brother turned 10 this week! Where does time go?

My husband and I went for dinner and a movie with some of our close friends on Thursday night. We went to see Straight Outta Compton which was a really great movie. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the movie, but I left very impressed and with a new appreciation for Ice Cube and Dr Dre.

On Friday morning we made our way out to camp as the weather forecast looked very promising. We enjoyed lovely weather out there. On Saturday my mom and I went exploring and found a trail to walk on. This was of course cut short when my mom spotted a baby bear ahead sitting in the middle of the trail. We immediately turned around and went back the way we came, but at a much faster pace.

Other than that, I relaxed and continued reading the book that I have been picking at (Outlander by Diana Gabaldon). It took me about a quarter of the way through the book to really get into it, but now I am really enjoying it.

Now that I’m back at home, I’m enjoying a quiet day and the smell of chicken tacos cooking in the slow cooker. I did a little online shopping since Colourpop is having a Labour Day sale until 11:59 pm PST tonight (update: sale was extended by one day). I’ll post those goodies when they arrive! And finally, tonight one of my best friends is coming over to play video games with my husband and I, so I am looking forward to that too.

I hope everyone had a fantastic week! Did you do anything exciting? Let me know in the comments down below!

Snapshot Sunday

Hi guys! It was another quiet week around my household that didn’t really start to pick up until this weekend. The weather was cold and dreary which makes Netflix indoors that much more appealing.

Aug 30-15

This weekend was the annual Rib Fest, so I went to check that out (twice) with the husband. Surprisingly I had never gone before, but I knew this year that I had to change that. It was a nice mix of out of town and local vendors. The first time I got ribs and chicken from Ribs Royale which was delicious but way too much food. When I went back today I just got a prosciutto and gouda pretzel from Sweet North which is a local bakery/coffee shop. It did not disappoint. Plus I tried a little bit of my husband’s giant pulled pork sandwich from Route 55. Mmm!

We also had a friend over yesterday for a little barbecue that turned into several hours of playing video games. It was a lot of fun! We started playing Diablo III since we needed another game we could play through together. I had never played it before but it was great!

I also hit 100 likes on the blog yesterday which means a lot to me! Thank you so much to everyone who has clicked “like” on one of my posts. It really does mean a lot to me!

Overall it was a fun weekend and as always, I can’t believe how fast it flew by. At least it is a short week and then I’m on holidays for six days. I’m very much looking forward to that. Hopefully the weather cooperates.. I’m not ready to say goodbye to summer quite yet.

I hope you all had a great week! Share your stories about your week in the comments below!

Snapshot Sunday

Hi guys! Wow, did this week ever fly by because it appears to be Sunday again.

Aug 23-15

This week was my first week back at work after being on holidays for ten days. It’s always tough walking back through the door after being off, but once I was back it quickly felt like my holidays were an illusion.

This week I focused on getting back into a fitness routine. I managed to get to the gym three times this week, after not going for about a month (although I had been working out at home). I went to three classes at the gym, and while they were hard, I felt so great after. I’m planning on taking them again this week. I really find going straight from work increases my probability of going.

I also tried a new restaurant this week with my husband. After hearing glowing recommendations from a good friend, we went to Nook. It is a small Italian restaurant here in Thunder Bay. While their menu was small, it packed a serious punch. Homemade Italian cuisine is one of my weaknesses. I had their gnocchi dish which included peas and green beans, in a pesto sauce. The gnocchi was wonderful and reminded me of gnocchi I had in Rome. The pesto had a lemon flavour and was very tasty! I also tried some of their prosciutto pizza and it was to die for!

It was a bit chilly and gloomy this past week, but on Saturday the sun came out again. My husband and I took advantage of this and look a walk around Boulevard Lake. It was a nice quiet walk, as it wasn’t as busy there as I thought it would be. We are finishing off out weekend by watching some Netflix together and playing a video game together. Perfect end to a lovely weekend.

I hope everyone had a great week! Share your stories about your week below!

Snapshot Sunday

Hi guys! Once again it is Sunday and it is back to the daily grind tomorrow… I thought it would be nice to start a Snapshot Sunday series where I talk about the highlights of the week and post a few pictures.

This Sunday is extra bittersweet because it marks the end of my ten days of holidays. My husband and I were both off which was great, and my sister and her boyfriend were in town from British Columbia. It was a relaxing but also eventful week off. It certainly flew by that’s for sure!

1. Beautiful view from our hike 2. The sky from the sudden storm 3. The husband and I at the family BBQ

1. Beautiful view from our hike 2. The sky from the sudden storm   3. The husband and I at the family BBQ

This week we spent three days out at the cottage. The weather was beautiful. I spent quite a bit of time reading on the deck (I read Amy Poehler’s Yes Please and started Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander). We also made time for a 10 km hike on one of the provincial park’s trails. The views were absolutely stunning. Lake Superior is surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Since we have been experiencing a heat wave, we also had quite the thunder storm. One minute it was beautiful outside (and we had just finished a walk around Boulevard Lake) and then we were in the car and the sky got very dark. It was incredible how fast the weather changed and I was thankful we had finished our walk in time to avoid it.

The week wrapped up with a big family BBQ in honour of my sister and her boyfriend being in town. It was nice to get everyone together and catch up with the family members that I don’t see often.

I hope everyone had a great week! Share your stories about your week below!
