KL Polish | Lumiere & Das Esspensive XXVI

I’d been eyeing up KL Polish since it launched in 2016 but hadn’t placed an order until recently. I’ve supported the Kathleenlights YouTube channel for the past few years and I’ve always found that she has an eye for quality when it comes to things she puts her name on. Given that I enjoy nail polish, I was definitely drawn to her brand and all of it’s beautiful shades. I ordered three recently so today’s manicure features two of them – Lumiere (matches her Colourpop lipsticks of the same name) and Das Esspensive XXVI. What finally made me order was the limited edition launch of Das Esspensive in honour of Kathleen’s 26th birthday. So, let’s take a closer look at this beautiful manicure and chat about my thoughts on the products!

KL Polish Lumiere & Das Esspensive

Products Used

OPI Chip Skip
OPI Nail Envy Original (1 coat)
KL Polish Lumiere (2 coats)
KL Polish Das Esspensive XXVI (2 coats – ring fingers only)
Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat (1 coat)

KL Polish Lumiere

First of all – I’m pretty blown away by how close of a match KL Polish Lumiere is to Colourpop’s Lumiere. I own both the Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick formula (seen above) and the Lippie Stix version. I love the lipsticks so I just had to have the nail polish version.

The formula of the KL Polish products that I tried was amazing! The brush size is perfect for using the least amount of strokes to get full coverage on the nail. It also glided on very easily so it was very easy to get a clean application without getting it on the cuticles. It was thick enough to get fairly opaque application in one coat, but their website suggests two so that is what I did. Even Das Esspensive XXVI which has a clear base was actually quite saturated with glitter. Normally I’d need more than two coats to get the level of glittery-ness that I desire but that was not the case here.

I actually wore this manicure last week and held-off posting this so that I could talk a bit about the wear time. I had some minor chipping in the fingers that I tend to use the most and some tip wear (I type a lot on computers) but other than that, my nails look pretty decent for one week’s worth of wear. Any major chipping was because I was rough with my nails.

Overall, I’m really pleased with the quality of KL Polish and would definitely order more. They were $8.50 USD (though I got a coupon code for signing up for the newsletter for my first order) and shipping was $8.95 (flat rate). My order was shipped pretty quickly and it didn’t seem like I had to wait too long for it to be delivered. It was well packaged which is always nice, I sometimes worry about nail polish breaking in the mail. KL Polish is cruelty-free, as well as 5-free and vegan.

  1. I had no idea Kathleenlights had a nail polish line! Although, I don’t really watch her. Not sure why I don’t but never got into her channel.
The shimmery topper looks gorgeous! I worry about nail polishes shattering in the mail too – that’s why I typically stick to local online shops.

This week I’m wearing Essie Blue-tiful Horizon which is a grey blue with a copper shimmer:

So stunning and such a fantastic formula!

    • Ooooo that nail polish looks so pretty!! I really wish I liked Essie nail polishes (the normal formula) but they chip like crazy on me 😢I loooove the gel couture line though!

  2. I haven’t given myself a mani in so long, you’ve convinced me that I need to!

I’ve heard good things about the KL polish line; I love mauvey-pink shades like that – I find them universally flattering and they go with everything. The gold glitter accent nail is a nice touch too!

    • It had been awhile since I had done my nails too! I used to wear nail polish religiously but I think I’ve become lazy lately or something!

    • I’ve found that keeping cuticle oil on my end table in my living room really helps keep my nails looking healthy. I put it on when I’m mindlessly watching tv!
