Mani Monday: OPI DS Mystery

OPI DS Mystery

Hi guys! It’s Mani Monday again and today I have OPI DS Mystery to share with you. I was inspired to dig out this polish after I saw it in a haul over on Helpless Whilst Drying! I’ve had this shade in my collection for a number of years now and it had been neglected. While it is a beautiful polish, I do remember why it has been neglected for so long. Is it just me or do the OPI DS polishes have terrible wear time? Normally I start off my posts with “this week I’m wearing *insert polish here*” but I can’t even say that as I’m typing this with bare nails. It lasted only a day or two before I had major tip wear and then lots of chipping.

Products Used:

OPI Chip Skip
OPI Nail Envy Maintenance
OPI DS Mystery (2 coats)
Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat

I wish my camera picked up the gold sparkle in this polish because it really is quite beautiful. I love deep purples like OPI DS Mystery (which has been discontinued). I just wish the polish would have actually held up. Over the weekend I wasn’t even hard on my nails at all. There really isn’t any reason why it should have chipped that quickly. I had worn one of the OPI DS shades on a trip to Mexico several years ago and that is when I first learned they don’t wear very well. I was barely on the plane and my manicure was a disaster.

What do you have on your nails today? Let me know in the comments down below! Do you have better luck with OPI DS shades than I do? I wish my nails cooperated more with them because they really have some stunning shades in that series.

xoxo,

Robyn

    • Hmm weird! Though different formulas work different on everyone. There’s a couple other brands that are often raved about that I find wear horribly on my nails. I still do own quite a few DS shades (always optimistic) that are stunning, I’ll have to test more and pay attention. I haven’t worn many since I started blogging.

  1. I wore this once so far and it chipped before I managed to get a photo of it! Such a shame as it’s such a gorgeous shade, you think it’s black then you catch it in the light and it’s not!

    • I wonder if it would wear better over a dark cream polish as a base… I’ll have to try that next! I think Lincoln Park After Dark might work!
