NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment

NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment

In one of my recent Sephora orders I picked up a deluxe sized sample of the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in the shade Starwoman. This is a formula I’ve been wanting to try for a long time so I was excited to see it in the Rewards Bazaar. I’ve worn it a couple of times now so I’m ready to give you my thoughts on the formula, as well as show you the photos I took throughout the day of how it wore.

The packaging is the classic matte that one would expect to see from NARS. It looks like the deluxe sample is pretty much the same as the full sized version, just shrunk down. The applicator is different than the traditional doe foot that you would normally find with a liquid lipstick. This one is smaller and pointier. It makes it easier to get a precise application, but does take a bit more time to apply. I didn’t get the best application when I wore this to do my wear test photos but that was my fault. My light up makeup mirror needed to be charged so I didn’t have optimal lighting.

The formula is very fluid. It does feather a bit if you’re not careful when applying. The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment is also very pigmented so you get quite a bit of coverage without having to dip back into the bottle. It also touches up really nicely. I find that touching up liquid lipstick can be iffy as it can bunch up over any product that was already on the lips. This one, however, felt like it merged seamlessly into the lipstick that had remained on my lips. You really could not tell that I touched it up at all.

1. Freshly applied @ 8 AM; 2. Pre-lunch check-in @ 12 PM; 3. Post-lunch check-in @ 12:40 PM

As you can see, eating lunch definitely did impact the wear-time of this product a bit. I opted to touch it up which is why I didn’t do a final check-in at the end of my work day. But, as I mentioned before the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment looked great after my touch-up. The formula also did not feel drying at all on the lips. This could be because it doesn’t seem to be totally matte, it seems to have a bit of a sheen to it even when it has dried down. I should also mention that this product is not transfer-proof.

Overall, I’m quite impressed with the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment and would be inclined to purchase a full sized product. It wears decently (not super long-wearing, but I’ll give it points for how easy it was to touch up), it feels flexible on the lips, and does not feel drying.
