Almay | New Makeup First Impressions

Almay

Almay is a brand that I haven’t really had much exposure to. I know many people who rave about their products but just hadn’t gotten around to trying them for myself. I was trilled to be able to try a bunch of Almay’s new products for spring which were recently gifted to me for review purposes. The products that I will be featuring for this post range from eyeshadows to lip glosses. Keep on reading for my first impressions and two makeup looks using these products.

Almay | Smoky Eye Trios

L to R: Coppery Blaze & Smoldering Embers

I’ve seen a few products like the Smoky Eye Trios which are laid out to suggest how best to use the shades together. They are quite useful for those starting off with creating eyeshadow looks from multiple shades. These shades aren’t super pigmented so they are definitely user friendly for beginners. I found that they did blend away a little too much but they still were easy enough to use.

Almay | Velvet Foil Cream Shadow

L to R: Black Lightning & Infinite Sky

I don’t often use cream eyeshadows but the Velvet Foil Cream Shadows had a nice consistency to them. A little tiny bit goes a long way and is easily blended out with your fingers. Once they are on they don’t budge! The only words of caution I have are to use a very, very small amount and to blend carefully to avoid getting eye shadow everywhere. They can get messy fast if you are not careful.

Almay | Make Them Jelly Hi-Lite in 24K Dreams

Almay Make Them Jelly Hi-Lite 24K Dreams

I was fully prepared to not like the Make Them Jelly Hi-Lite as I am a strictly powder highlight kind of girl but this surprised me! The texture is truly like a jelly so it isn’t creamy or slippery when applied. I used my fingers to dab a little on my cheekbones and it looked lovely. It stayed in place all evening!

Almay | Shadow Squad

L to R: Unicorn & Never Settle

I used these adorable Shadow Squads more as a highlight as that is what I think of when I see these shades. I swirled them together to create a multidimensional glow combining the different finishes in these quads. They are great for adding a beautiful everyday glow.

Almay | Goddess Gloss

Almay Goddess Gloss

I’ve only recently within the last year or so started to appreciate lip gloss. I love them for adding a quick wash of colour to my lips. The Goddess Glosses were great as they were pigmented enough to wear alone, were not too sticky and had a beautiful shimmer to them. They reminded me a lot of the Becca Liquid Crystal Lip Topper Glow Glosses.

Almay | Clear Complexion Blemish Armor

Almay Clear Complexion Blemish Armor

The Clear Complexion Blemish Armor was the only product I didn’t really get to test properly as I didn’t get any blemishes while testing these products. What I can say though is that it dries down quickly and clearly. The wand allows for precise application so that you only get the product where you need it.

Overall, I quite enjoyed these Almay Products! I would say my favourite would have to be the Goddess Glosses. My least favourite would have to be the Smoky Eye Trios, they were good but I like a bit more pigmentation. I also like having a matte to use in the crease when I do eye makeup looks.

Have you tried any Almay products? Let me know what your favourites are in the comments below!

  1. I own a goddess gloss and I love it! The eye foils and the highlighter look like things I would love! I always seem to walk past Almay in the stores. I need to stop and check them out more often. ❤️
