Mani Monday: Simple Halloween Manicure

Simple Halloween Manicure

Hi guys! Given that Halloween is ONE week away, I thought it would be fun to get into the spirit and share a simple Halloween manicure! I love split manicures like this because they look great but are so quick and easy to achieve. So, to achieve this simple Halloween manicure, I did a split manicure with the classic festive combination of orange and black.

Fall Trends: Mixed Mattes & Metallics

Fall Trends Mixed Mattes Metallics

Hi guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve done a fall trends post but today I wanted to share with you the mixed mattes and metallics trend for this fall! I did do a post last week about the Kat Von D MetalMatte Palette showing you seven different looks with it, but I saved today’s look for this post as it is more of a stark contrast between the two finishes.

I love browsing the internet for trends, not necessarily because I follow them, but I love to look at them and consider how do-able they are for the everyday person. My mind will start interpreting them into inspiration and I’ll start thinking about how I can translate this. Considering I recently purchased the Kat Von D MetalMatte Palette I knew this was one of the fall trends that I had to do an interpretation of here! You could of course mimic this with any matte and metallic shades you have in your collection. The beauty of this trend is it is really open-ended, you could mix the finishes in any way and use any colours. Continue reading

Seven Deadly Sins of Makeup Tag

seven deadly sins of makeup

Hi guys! Today I was just really feeling like doing a tag post. I love reading tags on other blogs and I love doing them from time to time to switch up my content and most of the time I end up talking about products I may have otherwise not mentioned. Anyways, I knew I wanted to a tag, but the question was ‘which one?’ so I headed over to Stashy’s Awards & Tags Page on her blog for some inspiration! That’s where I found the Seven Deadly Sins of Makeup Tag which I actually had never heard of or seen before. So, thank you Stashy! haha

Anyways, the point of the Seven Deadly Sins of Makeup Tag is that the questions all revolve around… you guessed it, the seven deadly sins.

GREED

What’s your most inexpensive beauty item? What’s your most expensive beauty item?

My most inexpensive beauty item would have to be my Essence Lip Liners. I can’t remember the exact price but they are only a few dollars and I love them.

kat-von-d-metal-matte-inside

My most expensive beauty item would probably be my recently purchased Kat Von D MetalMatte Palette. It thought it would be my Urban Decay Vice Palettes but they are actually $4 less! I looove eye shadow palettes so I tend to spend the most money on those.

3 Natural Looking Blushes

natural-blushes

Hi guys! Blush was a makeup step that I overlooked for years. Until probably about 2 to 3 years ago, I never wore blush. While I switch up the intensity and shade of my blush depending on the look I’m going for, I love a good natural looking blush! Today I thought I would share 3 of my favourites!

Urban Decay | Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush in Fetish

This is by far one of my favourite blushes ever. You can’t tell by looking at it, but I wear this shade almost every day! If I don’t know which blush I want to wear, this matte beauty is what will end up on my face. It is very pigmented so just a tiny tap of a brush into the product is all you need to get a light dusting of pinky-nude blush! I’ve yet to find a makeup look that this shade doesn’t go with.

L’Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal

L'Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal

Hi guys! Quite a few weeks ago now I was sent the L’Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal products that you see above complimentary by Influenster for review. I’ve been using them exclusively for the past few weeks and I’m at a point where I’ve developed an opinion on them that I’m ready to share!

I followed the routine that Influenster suggested in order to get a grasp on how well these products work:

Now, let’s take a look at each individual item!

L’Oreal | Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Scrub Cleanser

loreal-revitalift-bright-reveal-brightening-scrub-cleanser

My normal routine does not include exfoliating every day as it damages the skin, however, to follow the suggested routine, I gave it a shot. Over time I did not notice any damage to my skin, though I have gone back to my usual once or twice a week routine now that I’m done testing. The granules in this scrub feel fairly gentle and are used sparingly in the scrub, so you’re not getting as deep (or harsh) of an exfoliating as you would with say… St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub. The cleanser itself is almost gel-like so it tones down the harshness as well. My skin felt clean and smooth after using this nightly. The only thing I didn’t like about it as it was a bit difficult to get all the granules off my face while rinsing.

More specifically, the active ingredients of this are Perlite and Glycolic Acid to exfoliate your skin’s dullness and impurities to assist in improving texture and complexion. As I said earlier, my skin does feel smooth after using this.

L’Oreal | Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Peel Pads

The next step in this routine is to use the Brightening Peel Pads. These pads, I found were saturated with just the right amount of the product so that you could feel it on your skin, but the pads were not dripping. I appreciated this as you would not want to get this in your eyes! You use the pads in a circular motion on your face to chemically exfoliate your skin. I found this was great as it got what the scrub missed!

The Brightening Peel Pads contain 10% Glycolic Complex which is what gently exfoliates the dead skin cells away. It’s said to resurface uneven skin. I don’t have a lot of issues with uneven skin so I can’t really comment on this claim. But, you can see on the pads that it does exfoliate, and I found it picked up what the very gentle scrub missed. The Fall Tag

Fall Tag

Hi guys! The lovely Cat of MyLipAddiction.com tagged me to do the fall tag! If you haven’t checked out Cat’s wonderful blog or her podcast, they are both a must! She is a truly inspiring woman! I think I remember doing some kind of fall tag last year but this seemed different! And, new year = new answers!

What is your favourite Fall colour?

Like a deep dark orangey shade! Wrath from the Kat Von D Monarch Palette would be the colour I have in mind. Such a beautiful colour and you can find it so many places during the fall!

What is your favourite Fall lip product?

Hmm… Probably either Urban Decay 1993 or Colourpop’s Grunge! I love the brown lip trend we’ve seen the past two falls. I did a whole post on my top 5 lipsticks for fall so you can find swatches of these two beauties there!

What is your favourite Fall accessory?

Scarves! I wear them a lot in the winter too, but this is when I start busting them out and I get pretty excited about it!

What is your favourite Fall nail polish?

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark is my favourite nail polish for fall or all year round. If I had to choose something else then I would say OPI Royal Rajah Ruby.

What is your favourite Fall scent?

I have a Bath & Body Works Candle from last fall that I’m still working on, the scent is called Autumn and I’m in love with it! It really reminds me of hot apple cider.

What is your favourite Fall fashion?

Boots! Skinny jeans and boots is my favourite look to throw together!

What is your favourite Fall Starbucks drink?

My go-to Starbucks drink in general is a Skinny Vanilla Latte and I do favour that over the seasonal fall drinks. But, if I had to pick one of the ones that is more fall specific then it would have to be a Salted Caramel Mocha. I only really get those as a treat though.

What is your favourite thing about Fall?

Probably the colours. The changing colours of the leaves inspire me so much!

What are you being for Halloween?

You’ll find out in a few weeks 😉 I’ve changed my mind so many times, but I’ve finally decided and ordered a costume!

What is your favourite fall hairstyle?

I don’t really change up my hair seasonally to be honest so I don’t think I have an answer for this one!

I tag the following beauties for the Fall Tag:

Pretty Ruff Life (in the time I took to post this she did the tag herself so here is here post!)
