Snapshot Sunday + Weekly Post Recap

Hi guys! Another week has come and gone again! It was mostly another uneventful week. My husband and I have been playing through a video game together so it has really distracted us from everything else.

This weekend has been a bit busier though. On Saturday I went to get my hair done so I chopped quite a bit of it off and decided to go for a more chocolatey-brown colour. I really loved the red but I’ve had red hair for about a year now so it was time for a change.

After that I went shopping with my mom which was a lot of fun. It is nice to spend quality time together and catch up.

After shopping I went out with some friends to a shag. Basically it is a wedding social that couples put on to raise money for their wedding. I think it is very much a Thunder Bay thing. Anyone can attend the event, more often than not you don’t know the couple who is getting married. There is always great prizes, inexpensive drinks and music. Continue reading

February Birchbox Unboxing

P1020254

Hi guys! Today’s post is a bittersweet one as it will be my last Birchbox unboxing post. Birchbox announced last week that they were stopping service to Canada and that my subscription would be cancelled after the February box. Needless to say, I’m incredibly disappointed. They have indicated that it is due to increased shipping costs and the exchange rate. I’ve really enjoyed Birchbox and am sad that I only had it for a short time. I did however subscribe to Ipsy because I enjoy getting a monthly beauty subscription. Hopefully I’ll receive my first beauty bag in March and hopefully they don’t follow suit and end services to Canada too.

For my February box (because I didn’t know at the time it would be my last) I opted in for the Date Night themed box as the items sounded like I would enjoy them all. So no surprises for me this month! Continue reading

L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara

P1020217.jpg

Hi guys! I really wanted to have another video up for you today but it seems that the universe just doesn’t want that to happen. I usually film the weekend before I post but I was so sick and so busy last weekend that I just didn’t have the time. I tried to film a nail tutorial today to post but my technique was off and I ended up blocking half the footage with my other hand while painting the nails. Frustrating, but at least I can use this manicure for Mani Monday right? I’m going to attempt to film tomorrow for next week’s video. Today had other frustrations so I think starting fresh tomorrow is a must!

Anyways, this week I picked up the L’Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara. I had seen it mentioned so many times on YouTube, and I’m currently out of my holy grail Too Faced Better than Sex mascara so I thought I would give it a try. I usually like L’Oreal makeup so I went into this venture with optimism!

5 of My Favourite Beauty Tips

5 favourite beauty tips

Hi guys! I always appreciate a good beauty tip. Whether it be something really original, or an oldie that I’ve long forgotten. I wanted to share with you five of my favourite beauty tips. I am in no way claiming and of these to be original. I’m pretty sure a lot of these have been around forever so I wouldn’t even know where to start to give credit. Wherever these came from, I really enjoy them and I thought I would share them here!

Conditioner as Shaving Cream

This is probably my favourite beauty tip. I haven’t purchased actual shaving cream for YEARS. I purchase an inexpensive conditioner, usually one by TRESemme with a pump and it seriously lasts forever. You don’t need to use much, it lubricates your skin for your razor to easily glide across and it moisturizes. It takes up more room in my shower but that seems like a small price to pay. First Impressions: Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

P1020208

Hi guys! I’m finally jumping on the micellar cleansing water bandwagon. I’m pretty late to the party but I finally decided to try out the one that Garnier put out (and it was on sale!). I chose the formula that claims to remove waterproof mascara so that I could really put it to the test. I’ve enjoyed all the Garnier skincare products that I’ve used so I was excited to give this one a try!

This Micellar water is alcohol-free. It cleanses your skin without needing to rub or rinse by lifting away dirt, oil and makeup with its micelles. It’s a watery liquid that feels a bit slippery but does not contain oil and it does not have a scent. Continue reading

January Favourites

P1020205

Hi guys! Welcome to the first favourites post of 2016! To switch things up from the usual I’ve done a video this month. This is my first video-style favourites video so it is very short. I was so surprised when I saw how much footage I had because favourites videos are notoriously super long! I think it will take some time to get used to talking to the camera. My apologies in advance for my bratty dogs. This basically sums up why I’ve been doing all voiceover style videos.

Sephora Samples

P1020192

Hi guys! I love receiving samples from Sephora. It’s a great way to try new products without breaking the bank. On my last Sephora order I cashed in on some points and added took advantage of one of their weekly specials since there were some perks that interested me.

P1020193.jpg

I’m excited to try this one! I haven’t tried any of the “They’re Real” products from Benefit. I don’t have high expectations for the eyeliner as I’ve heard lots of negative reviews. It took me a bit to figure out how to use it to even get a swatch. It’s a good concept, gel liner in an applicator, but it’s kind of hard to use. If you do get it to work, it seems to last. I took a makeup remover wipe to get rid of my swatches and it removed everything but the eye liner. Perhaps the makeup remover sample will do the trick! I mostly went for this kit to get the mascara. I love trying new mascaras. Continue reading
