I purchased the Philosophy Purity Made Simple Ultra-Light Moisturizer as part of my skincare-centric spring VIB sale haul. Though spring briefly looked like it was going to make an appearance in Thunder Bay before it went running for the hills. But, even though the cold and snow has returned I’m sporting a spring polkadot manicure anyways. For this manicure I used one of my new favourite formulas, Essie Gel Couture, as a base and then used some colourful shades to add some polkadots to the manicure.
I purchased the Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 at the beginning of March and I’ve been using it pretty consistently ever since. In fact, I’ve been using it almost DAILY. So, I can safely say I am ready to share my thoughts on this palette with you today. The Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 is a combination of matte and shimmer shades. It claims to be both versatile and pigment-rich. The Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 is a pink-centric palette that is perfect for spring!
The first thing I noticed about the Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 is that it is TINY. However, Viseart is a pretty high end brand, so I wasn’t surprised by any means. A Viseart Palette that only costs $39 CAD is going to be on the smaller end of the palette spectrum. However, due to it’s size, I think it would be fantastic for travel. Continue reading
Woah, where did March go? Is it just me or did March seem like a very busy and fast month? But, that’s okay! This just brings up closer to summer! We don’t really get a real spring in Thunder Bay so I’m mentally just skipping past that and am dreaming of a warm July by the lake. I purchased this palette in February and it has remained on top of my vanity pretty much since that point. I’ve been able to create so many different eye shadow looks with it, it definitely became an every day staple. Happy Easter, everyone! It’s been a bit of a quiet week over here on the blog, but it’s sure been a busy one. I don’t know why I thought it would be less busy but I definitely didn’t have time to finish up the posts that I had planned. Anyways, in the spirit of Easter, I thought I’d share with you a colourful Easter makeup look that I did for an event this weekend. I used the Violet Voss The Rainbow Eyeshadow Palette which I should be doing a review on in the coming weeks. It’s a great palette for doing fun makeup looks like this one!
Though the calendar says it’s spring, we still have quite a bit of snow in Thunder Bay as well as some chilly mornings. Nonetheless, since it is technically spring, I thought I’d share 5 items that are bring me more into a ‘spring’ state of mind! They are all bright and cheery which is exactly what I reach for to get me out of the darkness that I associate with winter. What better way to relax after a long day than to draw a bubble bath and unwind? When I was contacted to review a bubble bath from Naturally Well Co by Cynthia Aesthetics I was so thrilled! I take bubble baths fairly often but I usually just grab a bottle from the Superstore when I’m out getting groceries. This, however, is a handmade product that is glycerine-free as well as friendly to both your skin and animals. Best of all, it’s a Canadian product! Happy St Patrick’s Day! I actually was out celebrating a night ahead of the real day so I thought I’d share with you the St Patrick’s Day makeup look that I created. Every time I wear green eye shadow I remember why I love it and wish that I wore it more often. I really need to do it more often than just on St Patrick’s Day. While my plans tonight are a bit quieter (I’m going with the husband to see a comedy show), I think I’ll do another green eye makeup look anyways. Why not?
I’ve been using the Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer for a few months now – I picked it up during the fall Sephora VIB Rouge Sale and I’ve mentioned it in a few posts since then. I’ve never really dedicated a full post to it but, though I really enjoy using it, I wanted to see if I could actually see a difference in my foundation performance. So, during an average work day I decided to use it on only half of my face and photograph it throughout the day. So, let’s find out if it actually made a difference, or if I just convinced myself I was seeing one this whole time!
Some background about my skin, if you’re a longtime follower of Lipstick on the Lake, this is just a repeat message, but my skin definitely airs on the oily side. I tend to wear mattifying products whenever possible to attempt to keep the oil at bay. I usually end up shiny by the end of the day regardless. For this test I wore the L’Oreal Pro-Matte Foundation.
