Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 Review

Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2

I purchased the Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 at the beginning of March and I’ve been using it pretty consistently ever since. In fact, I’ve been using it almost DAILY. So, I can safely say I am ready to share my thoughts on this palette with you today. The Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 is a combination of matte and shimmer shades. It claims to be both versatile and pigment-rich. The Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 is a pink-centric palette that is perfect for spring!

Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2

The first thing I noticed about the Viseart Petit Pro Palette 2 is that it is TINY. However, Viseart is a pretty high end brand, so I wasn’t surprised by any means. A Viseart Palette that only costs $39 CAD is going to be on the smaller end of the palette spectrum. However, due to it’s size, I think it would be fantastic for travel. Continue reading

Q1 Empties: January to March 2018

Q1 2018 Empties

The first quarter of the year flew by, didn’t it? It honestly feels like I was in Paris celebrating the start of 2018 yesterday, and here we are one quarter of the way through the year already. I know I say this all the time but I really don’t know where the time goes. So with that said, I’ve got my empties from the first quarter of the year for you! I find it more manageable to do quarterly empties posts versus monthly because I really don’t empty THAT many products each month. Continue reading

Sephora Spring VIB Rouge Sale Wish List

Sephora Spring VIB Rouge Sale Wish List

The Sephora Spring VIB Rouge Sale is right around the corner! This time around I’m looking to haul some skincare. I’ve been really getting into researching new products to use in my routine. One of the biggest deterrents for me for buying quality skincare is the price so the sale seems like a great time to pick up some new products!

Farmacy | Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm

I used a sample of the Farmacy Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm and I really loved the way it made my skin feel in the morning. It supports firming and toning of the skin, as well as reduces fine lines. I’m all about preventative skincare when it comes to anti-aging products so I would love to add this product to my routine. The interesting part about this product is that it is a balm but it melts into an oil in your hands as it warms. Continue reading

March Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

March Favourites

Woah, where did March go? Is it just me or did March seem like a very busy and fast month? But, that’s okay! This just brings up closer to summer! We don’t really get a real spring in Thunder Bay so I’m mentally just skipping past that and am dreaming of a warm July by the lake. I have quite a few makeup favourites to share with you this month so let’s jump into it!

Colourpop x Kathleen Lights | Dream St Eyeshadow Palette

I purchased this palette in February and it has remained on top of my vanity pretty much since that point. I’ve been able to create so many different eye shadow looks with it, it definitely became an every day staple. I wrote a review on the Colourpop x Kathleen Lights Dream St Palette in the earlier part of March! Continue reading

Colourful Easter Makeup Look

Colourful Easter Makeup Look

Happy Easter, everyone! It’s been a bit of a quiet week over here on the blog, but it’s sure been a busy one. I don’t know why I thought it would be less busy but I definitely didn’t have time to finish up the posts that I had planned. Anyways, in the spirit of Easter, I thought I’d share with you a colourful Easter makeup look that I did for an event this weekend. I used the Violet Voss The Rainbow Eyeshadow Palette which I should be doing a review on in the coming weeks. It’s a great palette for doing fun makeup looks like this one!

Top 5: Spring Picks 2018

Spring Picks

Though the calendar says it’s spring, we still have quite a bit of snow in Thunder Bay as well as some chilly mornings. Nonetheless, since it is technically spring, I thought I’d share 5 items that are bring me more into a ‘spring’ state of mind! They are all bright and cheery which is exactly what I reach for to get me out of the darkness that I associate with winter. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the vampy makeup that I reach for more during the winter, but I am ready for some change! Continue reading

St Patrick’s Day Makeup Look

St Patrick's Day Makeup Look

Happy St Patrick’s Day! I actually was out celebrating a night ahead of the real day so I thought I’d share with you the St Patrick’s Day makeup look that I created. Every time I wear green eye shadow I remember why I love it and wish that I wore it more often. I really need to do it more often than just on St Patrick’s Day. While my plans tonight are a bit quieter (I’m going with the husband to see a comedy show), I think I’ll do another green eye makeup look anyways. Why not?

Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer

Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer

I’ve been using the Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer for a few months now – I picked it up during the fall Sephora VIB Rouge Sale and I’ve mentioned it in a few posts since then. I’ve never really dedicated a full post to it but, though I really enjoy using it, I wanted to see if I could actually see a difference in my foundation performance. So, during an average work day I decided to use it on only half of my face and photograph it throughout the day. So, let’s find out if it actually made a difference, or if I just convinced myself I was seeing one this whole time!

Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer

Some background about my skin, if you’re a longtime follower of Lipstick on the Lake, this is just a repeat message, but my skin definitely airs on the oily side. I tend to wear mattifying products whenever possible to attempt to keep the oil at bay. I usually end up shiny by the end of the day regardless. For this test I wore the L’Oreal Pro-Matte Foundation. Colourpop x Kathleenlights Dream St Palette

Colourpop x Kathleenlights Dream St Palette

This week has inadvertently been dubbed Colourpop week! I hauled some Colourpop products a few weeks ago so I guess it makes sense that they are all up for review right about now… Today I’ve got my review of the Colourpop x Kathleenlights Dream St Palette! I had my eye on this when Kathleenlights first announced it but I waited a bit to purchase it, so I’m really glad it was still available because it is a beauty! I tend to really like Kathleenlights’ collaborations, they always really represent the types of products, colours and finishes that she uses the most on her channel.

Colourpop x Kathleenlights Dream St Palette

The Colourpop x Kathleenlights Dream St Palette is a warm toned palette with pops of colour mixed in for good measure. It also has all of the eye shadow finishes covered – mattes, satins and metallics. I was most drawn to the teal shades in the palette. They really remind me of a mermaid eyeshadow look that Kathleenlights did a few years ago. Continue reading

Colourpop Lux Lipstick

Colourpop Lux Lipstick

Colourpop recently launched a full lineup of Lux Lipsticks which are in a creamy matte finish. They are said to not bleed or feather, as well as be long-wearing. They look more like a traditional lipstick instead of the longer, skinny format that they used for their Lippie Stix. Needless to say, I was pretty excited to start trying them out and am ready to share my thoughts on them! I picked out two shades – Pinkies up and Humble Pie. This review will feature the shade Pinkies Up which is a dusty mid-tone mauve.

Colourpop Lux Lipstick Pinkies Up

The packaging is a sleek rose gold coloured tube with little stars added for decoration. I think these tubes are really cute and definitely look more “lux” than their previous launches. The stars embellished on the actual lipstick inside the tube are a really cute touch as well. They do however attract finger prints like crazy. Continue reading
