Colourpop Hi-Maintenance Eyeshadow Palette

Colourpop Hi-Maintenance

Hi guys! Last month I shared the Colourpop Hi-Maintenance Eyeshadow Palette as part of my September haul. I’d been dying to try Colourpop’s pressed eyeshadows since they had launched so this quad seemed like a good time to try them out. It contains two shimmery shades and two mattes. I love the colours included in this palette as I enjoy wearing red/burgundy shades on the eyes!

Colourpop Hi-Maintenance Palette

The Packaging is a simple white Colourpop cardboard palette, with no markings of which palette it is, or what shades it contains. That is, aside from the cardboard sleeve that it comes with which you can see above. The palette itself does feel quite sturdy though and the eyeshadows can be removed to be either switched-out or to be added to a z-palette. I wish the palette itself had the quad’s name and the names of the shades on it though.

September Collective Haul

September collective haul

Hi guys! Although it isn’t quite the end of September, I can assure you that I am done hauling for the month. So, I thought I’d collectively share in one place what I purchased this month! I’m planning on posting reviews, swatches, makeup looks and so on using these products so stay tuned!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Haze Duo

L to R: Haze and Haze II

The first purchase I made this month was the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Haze Duo which was a flash sale/launch for 48 hours earlier this month. The shades were super unique to my collection and I looooove the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick formula so I couldn’t pass them up. I posted a makeup look using Haze II just a couple days ago!

Fall Must-Haves

Fall Must-Haves

Hi guys! Did you blink? I feel like I blinked because somehow summer is nearly over and the fall season is almost here. Although it’s quite chilly here already in Thunder Bay, I’m optimistic that we will still have a few more warm weekends. Although I do enjoy the fall season with it’s beautiful scenery, sweaters, warm drinks and darker colours, I do kind of hold what happens after against it. Anyways, though I’m dreading winter, I am looking forward to getting into the fall spirit and pulling out some darker makeup that I wasn’t as drawn to over the summer. This past summer I really embraced a nearly makeup free existence on the weekends that made it challenging to produce blog content.

So what am I most excited to put all over my face this fall? Let’s dive into it…

Urban Decay | Revolution Lipstick in Venom

Urban Decay Venom Lipstick

This lipstick can also be found in the new Vice range, however the one I have is from the Revolution era. It is a deep berry shade that for some reason just screams fall when I look at it. I love wearing it slightly blotted to give it a bit of an edgier vibe. Continue reading

June Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

June Favourites

Hi guys! I feel like I might as well just stop keeping track of each month this year because they seem to be blowing by faster than I can count. I could have sworn June had just started but here we are ready to welcome July! This summer is going to be a busy one so I feel like it’s going to fly by even faster.

Makeup

Morphe | 35O Palette

Morphe 35O

In anticipation of Jaclyn Hill’s collaboration with Morphe, I became inspired to bust out my 35O Palette which I realized failed to make much of an appearance here on the blog! If you love warm eye shadows like I do, this palette is a must. It is so reasonably priced for 35 quality eye shadows! Also, you can find Morphe products in Showcase stores if you have one near you. I picked mine up from my local store. I posted a look using this palette earlier this month!

Urban Decay | Naked Heat Palette

Urban Decay Naked Heat

Yes, I just got this palette a couple of weeks ago but, I have been using it every single day since. Similar to the Morphe 35O Palette, the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette is warm toned as the name suggests. I have been absolutely obsessed with it. It doesn’t have as much variety as the Morphe 35O, however, what it lacks in variety, it makes up for in that it has the same quality one expects from a Naked Palette. I would say quality-wise it is a few notches above the Morphe 35O, but either would be great if you are looking for a warm toned palette. I posted my first impressions and swatches last week and stay tuned for a mega-post full of different eye looks using this beauty! Continue reading

MOTD: Nature Inspired Look

Nature Inspired Makeup Look

Hi guys! Today I thought I’d share with you the makeup that I’m currently wearing! As I was digging through my eyeshadow palette collection I knew I wanted to do something different on my eyes. So, I decided to grab my z-palette which is full of single eye shadows of varying brands. I was instantly drawn to my newer green shadows from Makeup Geek so I knew I wanted to incorporate those. The results? I ended up with a very forest/nature inspired look. I absolutely love combining greens and warmer browns to achieve a look like this. I actually did a somewhat similar one when I posted about the Kat Von D Metal Matte Palette here! Funny enough, with both looks I ended up going for Colourpop’s Barracuda on the lips. There is just something about this lipstick that goes so well with greens.

Best of 2016: Most Worn Lipsticks

Most Worn Lipsticks 2016

Hi guys! Since lipstick is something that I wear every single day, I thought it would be fun to look back at the ones I reached for the most this year. While I enjoy changing up my lipstick, there is a few that stood out in the pack and were clearly favoured.

Marc Jacobs |Β Le Marc CrΓ¨me Lipstick in J’Adore

Most Worn Lipsticks Marc Jacobs J'Adore

It should be no surprise that this lipstick made the list of my most worn lipsticks. Marc Jacobs’ J’Adore was also on my list of game changers this year. This rum raisin shade looks lovely with a warm makeup look which is what I wore most of the year.

Colourpop | Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Beeper

Most Worn Lipsticks Colourpop Beeper

One of my favourite liquid lipsticks to wear this year was Colourpop’s Beeper. It’s a lovely greige rose shade. I love the wear time of this liquid lipstick and I don’t find it too drying. Though, keep in mind, I have a high tolerance for liquid lipsticks. Continue reading

December Favourites: Makeup, Skincare & More!

Hi guys! I debated doing a December favourites post since I’ll be doing some best of 2016 posts next week, but I couldn’t pass this up. My best of 2016 posts focus on the whole year but there were some products that I’ve been loving a ton this monthΒ that I just had to tell you about as part of a December favourites post. So, this post is a bit early compared to my normal timing of these posts so that you aren’t inundated with favourites next week!

Makeup

Colourpop | Creme Gel Liner in Mr. Bing

I’ve been really loving the formula of Colourpop’s Creme Gel Liners but so far the standout, for me, is Mr. Bing. This warm brown looks very striking with green eyes and I find it works with a lot of my everyday makeup looks. Formula-wise, it is pigmented, smooth to apply (minimal tugging) and long-wearing!

Tarte | Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed

I’ve been wearing Exposed a LOT lately. I find it goes so well with most of my makeup looks. Particularly when I don’t want my blush to stand out much but still want some colour in my cheeks. This shade looks lovely on, blends out well and is long-wearing. Continue reading

Holiday Look: Cool & Metallic

Cool & Metallic Holiday Look

Hi guys! My last holiday look was warm & cozy, so this time I thought I would go cool & metallic to change things up! I love wearing purple so I’d wear this every day, to a holiday party or wherever, but I thought it would fit nicely with the season.Β I love how different it is from any other holiday look that I’ve pulled together. If this isn’t your cup of tea for a Christmas party, I think it would be perfect for New Year’s Eve as well! Okay, let’s dive deeper into this cool & metallic holiday look!

Colourpop Haul: Trying New Things!

colourpop-haul

Hi guys! If you’ve been here before, you’ll know that I love Colourpop! A few weeks ago they had a free international shipping promo with no minimum so I took that as an opportunity to order a few items. I decided to stick to products I haven’t tried of theirs, so I picked up a highlighter and a few of their gel eye liners! Items that I have had my eye on, but previously had been sidetracked by a wealth of lip products. As of writing this post, I haven’t tried these products on my face yet so in this post you’ll hear my first impressions from swatching them. I’ll do some full reviews once I’ve familiarized myself with everything, and of course, you’ll probably see them in a makeup look or two before that πŸ˜‰

Colourpop | Hippo Highligher

colourpop-hippo-highlighter

I’ve had my eye on Colourpop’s highlighters for quite some time but when I saw the shade Hippo, I finally decided to take the plunge. This icy lavender shade is very unique to my collection and I can’t wait to wear it. The texture is similar to Colourpop’s eye shadows in that they have the unique spongey/creamy texture. My swatch does not do it justice!

Halloween 2016: Gamora

halloween-gamora

Hi guys! Happy Halloween! I’m super excited to share with you the costume that I wore this year… Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy! I had a few different ideas floating around but Gamora really jumped out at me the most. I love the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and Gamora is such a strong and powerful character. My husband was Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy.

gamora star-lord halloween costume

I don’t really use a lot of face paint so, I cheaped out and ordered green face paint online. I should have done some research because this stuff was hard to work with. It dried very uneven so I had to build it up, and if my face got even the tiniest bit oily, the face paint would start to fade.Β At least the Halloween party I went to was dark, so after we took some pictures beforehand I wasn’t concerned about it.
